Pros: The staff was always very nice. It was a pre-war building so I didn't really hear my upstairs or next door neighbors. Pet friendly. Allowed for a full wall so I was able to split the rent with a roommate Cons: The elevators broke down from time to time but there were 3 working elevators. There was some construction noise from the building next to ours.

Pros: I just moved out of this apartment building - was lucky enough to get one of the renovated units right after they finished work, so I'm sad to leave. The doormen ranged from chill/indifferent to friendly/useful, which I'm totally OK with. I think they've done a decent job making an aging building attractive to someone looking for a nicely finished unit without being in a supremo luxury building. The new in-unit finishing is pretty great - pleather lined sinks and med cabinets, slow-closing drawers and cupboards. The common areas like the gym and laundry rooms should be updated soon to keep up with the rest of the common areas. I wasn't able to work out a renewal with the landlord, but didn't have any issues with them (though I was a bit surprised they weren't willing to adjust my rent even towards the covid-market rates). Note that between the front entrance and the 8th Ave subway, there's an AMC that has closed down due to the pandemic and its generous awning has attracted some homeless folks who are looking for shelter. Cons: I must say, if you're considering moving here - the construction noise you will face will be impossible to avoid. With an old building like this, you are going to have a hard time - surrounded not only by construction work on the new Manhattan West building and the new Penn Station, but also consistent road/wiring work along 34th, involving drilling, that often starts at 8p and ends around 5am. I spoke to the foreman of a couple of these sites about 'how many weeks' more they expected this to go on and was sort of laughed off with a 'more like how many months or more, bud'. Further, on the internal forum for tenants, people would regularly share complaints like the one attached and it is in line with my experience. I am not a light sleeper, but found myself to become increasingly anxious and sensitive to the noise in the final months of my occupancy. You can't really deal with construction noise with white noise or earplugs when you *feel* the tremors in bed. I feel like The Sloane would be a great place to live in a couple of years when the surrounding area stabilizes a bit and more units complete their renovations. I'll miss my apartment and some of the staff, but I will not miss the sleepless nights. Advice to landlord: File more 311 requests on behalf of your tenants!

Pros: Convenient location and laundry on every floor Cons: Noise levels are absurd. Whichever way you're facing, youre bound by loud noise. Facing north or west, you have super loud noise from a really busy intersection Facing south, you have a really loud construction site since theyre building out the the top portion of the Moynihan station. They even do construction through into the night Management is extremely poor. Responsiveness as well as action taking is disappointing. We've had 2 months of no gas with not much communication. We had no one we could talk to since it took them weeks to respond to emails Advice to landlord: Please step it up. Youre charging an arm and leg for disappointing management services
