“Memorial Creole Apts just relaid the west parking area and installed new, taller carports as many were damaged by Hurricane Beryl in 7/2024. The entrance drive and west parking area are beautiful now. Also several trees were lost in the storm, but all was cleared away and cleaned up very quickly. I love living here and could not imagine finding a nicer home anywhere else!”
— 10220 MEMORIAL DR · Houston“I have been living here for 10 years at least. Moving here allowed me to raise two successful Aggies. The proximity of great schools was my motivation. This place used to be lovely, not anymore: First, the noise: Duschesne Academy next door is very loud: they have loud speakers to call the kids by name when school is over and will use them during many events in the evenings. When the events take place, the loudspeakers can be heard. Be also prepared to have your bedroom lit up by the stadium floodlights during the night events, and fall asleep with the noise of whistles, and the likes. After all, who does not enjoy loud cheers and music when falling asleep? Besides Duchesne, be prepared to endure the noise of your neighbors whom you can hear arguing or watching TV. You can even hear your neighbors taking baths or showers. Second, the smells: be prepared to experience the smells of your neighbors' cooking. It seems to spread through the walls or the air conditioning vents. According to management, the only way to combat those smells is to switch on the vent fans. After living here for 10 years, I can attest that it does not work. Third, the average age of the residents is over 60, so it feels more like a retirement home. Some of the residents behave strangely, e.g., lurk at night or walking barefoot. If you are young, in your twenties, or your thirties, this is a difficult complex to settle in. You will be under constant surveillance by some older residents who don't work and are intolerant. They will make you leave in the end, or call the security guard on you. I even watched an elderly resident once, walking her dog, the dog was pooping on the pavement as she was walking him. She used to get angry at me for no reason because I was not responding to her questions or engaging in a conversation. That was so odd and sad to watch and experience over and over. Fourth, safety: despite the guard at the entrance, 6 cars got broken into recently. They added more lights at night so hopefully that should help. On a more personal note, and, still on the subject of safety, a tall tree fell on the roof of my apartment a while ago, damaging the gutters which are now bent, unstable and pulled on by the wind. Hopefully they won't become loose and hurt someone. Also, because the tree fell sideways and rested on the staircase, part of the railing is bent, and the staircase is shaky when someone is going up or down. The uprooted tree damaged the ground and all the bricks got dislodged at the base of the staircase. It is not a pretty sight and hopefully they wont get loose and become projectiles the next time we have a storm. On final note, while I walk my dog, I am always taken aback by the old washers and dryers which are piled up in the complex, next to some apartments. They have been disposed of, there, and for ever! Not classy at all. Finally, be aware that management is mercurial. So save yourself time and money and stay away. The time has come for me to leave and it makes me feel sad and nostalgic for the lovely Memorial Creole in some ways.”
“We moved in to Memorial Creole as a result of Hurricane Harvey. It was a hectic time and the complex was close to capacity but the Property Manager (Robert Hoop) made very effort to accommodate us; he was able to adjust parking spots which allowed us to be closer to our vehicles and was proactive staying in touch with us when larger apartments became available. We ended up moving in to one of the larger apartments he showed us. Memorial Creole caters to a professional clientele and that makes for a friendly, quiet and easy living experience. Garbage pickup is right outside your door 3x/week which is great. Also, the property never floods even under torrential rains; this is something you don't think about until it happens, but the property doesn't flood, so no worries for your vehicle or getting in and out of the complex in times of bad weather. This is a safe, professional, friendly complex.”
— 10220 MEMORIAL DR · Houston“I moved to Houston and memorial creole apartments in December 2016 and have absolutely loved being a part of this community. All the residents smile and wave at each other and respect the property/each other as good neighbors do. The property manager is incredibly responsive to any complaints and ensures that all residents concerns are addressed in a timely manner. The property itself is well kept by the maintenance staff and feels genuinely homey to walk around. Will continue to enjoy living here for years to come.”
— 10220 MEMORIAL DR · Houston“Pros: The curb appeal of the complex is top notch. The residents are a higher class of apartment renters than most complexes. The location is very convenient to everywhere and everything. Complex was graded correctly and it never floods.Very safe complex. Cons: Very overpriced. Visitor parking is non-existent yet some self-entitled residents park in the handful of spaces because it is close to their unit. Feral cats roaming the complex. No amenities except the 2 pools. The dog owners at this complex are the WORST: dogs off-leash, dogs barking while being walked before 6AM, dogs barking in their apartments all day. Property Manager plays favorites and they don't have to follow the property rules, like the 80 year old woman with hair down to her butt whose 2 yappy mutts run around the complex she never gets evicted. Oh, if you say anything to her about it, she brags that Robert, the PM, is her best friend and that she knows Marv she can do whatever she wants. This used to be a fantastic place to live but until the dog issues are remedied and the old hags are made to follow the rules or evicted, I'd suggest moving elsewhere.”
— 10220 MEMORIAL DR · Houston“I lived at Memorial Creole and found it to be an excellent property with excellent management. The property is really well kept and the updates on the units were very nice. The only issue I had while living there was a roof leak in the bedroom and management immediately addressed the issue and did whatever it could to make me comfortable during repairs. I feel management wants to ensure the happiness of the tenants while making sure the property is in the best condition possible. Again, it is an excellent property with excellent management.”
— 10220 MEMORIAL DR · Houston“We have greatly enjoyed living at Memorial Creole since August of 2016. We would highly recommend this property. We chose a unit close to the main entrance so traffic noise is somewhat of an issue at times. We love the beautiful landscaping throughout the complex, including gas lamps. Though at night, lighting is somewhat dim.”
— 10220 MEMORIAL DR · Houston“Simply stated, there IS no better place to live in Houston! Memorial Creole is a sparkling gem. From the mature landscape, the excellent management, the attentive grounds and maintenance crew, to the safety and quiet beauty...I would live nowhere else in Houston.”
— 10220 MEMORIAL DR · Houston“Charm, gracious surroundings, a cozy neighborhood feel, and safety and security. These are the reasons I've enjoyed living at Memorial Creole for more than three years. My children both attended local Spring Branch ISD schools, which are excellent.”
— 10220 MEMORIAL DR · Houston“I have lived at Memorial Creole for more than 13 years and I never want to leave. Not only is it located in the most exclusive neighborhood in all of Houston, but it is the most charming and SAFE property you will ever find. It is a privilege for anyone to live here.”
— 10220 MEMORIAL DR · Houston“Very unique experience for Houston. Beautiful grounds, quiet and very safe. The first time we toured the facilities we knew we wanted to live here and Memorial Creole lived up to our expectations. Great neighbors as well. Truly had a stress free experience for the 3 years that we lived here. My wife and I would recommend Memorial Creole to anyone.”
— 10220 MEMORIAL DR · Houston“This is a very unique place, within the loop, in a private community and well beyond anything I had hoped to find. I relocated to Texas from Minnesota 2 years ago, and interviewed several potential rental options. ONLY this one offered "flats" instead of cookie cutter apartments down long dark hallways that had ad hoc parking, "swinging singles" aloof "caretakers" and everything else I abhorred about apartments. Instead, I was welcomed by a tremendously caring and meticulous management staff from application to daily maintenance. These gentlemen run a tight ship, keep the apartments, pools, grounds and common spaces impeccably well groomed - and are accessible with the care and attention I would only expect as if my own dad was running the place. This is special. It is a small, private, secure, and magnificently maintained neighborhood. I referred my daughter here when she relocated as well. The property manager knows our names, our interests, our apartment numbers, and greets us by name when he introduces us to new residents. It is an amazing property, and a privilege to live here. I recommend it HIGHLY.”
— 10220 MEMORIAL DR · Houston“Exceptional property with outstanding school for zoning. Quite neighborhood feel that is definitely unique compared to any other property in Memorial. Flawless landscaping and amazing customer service from the staff. The manager is absolutely outstanding. A true hidden gem of a property”
— 10220 MEMORIAL DR · Houston“It's fantastic! A secret gem. 2 pools, lovely neighbours, quiet and well cared for. So many different floor plans but all thoughtfully considered. We really appreciate the mature flowering plants and architecture. It is always a joy to come home to.”
— 10220 MEMORIAL DR · Houston“What a wonderful community! I lived at Memorial Creole for 6 years from 2007-2013. I say "community" because you feel like you're in a community, not in an apartment complex. It's the best place I've ever lived! Robert, the property manager, cares immensely about the residents and is very hard working and professional. It's a very quiet environment with what I call "quality" residents. Fortunately, it's rather hidden from the street so one probably wouldn't notice it driving down Memorial Drive. It's very homey and quaint on the exterior with mature and manicured landscaping, but very updated on the interior. They're not the usual big boxy buildings sitting on a large, sterile parking lot. If I'm "painting" an appealing, pleasant picture, well that's what it's like to live there! The location is excellent in Memorial, one of the best areas of Houston with a renowned school district and easy access to I-10, 610, Galleria and downtown. I kept hearing "location, location, location" while I lived there, and it's true! It's centrally located, not too far from any part of Houston. I used to take the quick, scenic ride down Memorial Drive to my office downtown every day. Lots of trees and not much traffic compared to the freeways. I'd still be living there today if I didn't purchase a home.”
— 10220 MEMORIAL DR · Houston“This is the best apartment complex I've lived in, both in Houston and Austin. I say this not because they're exceedingly modern or magnificently appointed (though they are nice), but because the management is excellent. When I came to visit before renting, the manager took me around the grounds and literally knew everybody that we passed, all of whom greeted us warmly. The tenet population seems slightly older and thus quieter than at some of the apartments I've lived. There are no club houses or gyms, so that may deter some of the younger renters. There are two pools and the grounds are covered in a variety of flowers which make it a lovely and fragrant place to talk a stroll. Outside of office hours there is a guard on duty at the front entrance and I've not heard of any reports of crime. Guest parking can be troublesome if you want to have more than a few people over, but in the end my guests have always found a place to park. I'm only moving because I quit my job and I'm looking to relocate to another city. If I wanted to stay in Houston, I'd be living here.”
— 10220 MEMORIAL DR · Houston“Absolutely great. We never had any issues and were truly sad to leave. Great management, amazing neighborhood, and probably the safest apartment complex in Houston. Only down side is parking. I would definitely recommend!”
— 10220 MEMORIAL DR · Houston“My husband and I lived here from October 2013-2014. Unfortunately, we will be moving out this Friday at the end of October. We stayed here for a year and contemplated staying longer. However, we have a career change and a child on the way, so we are moving based upon our commute [work and school on the other side of town]. This complex will always remain in our hearts as our first place that we stayed in as newlyweds, and it was a great experience. Robert, the property manager, is very accommodating, and he dealt well with all the residents, employees, and different personalities. Robert works extremely hard as a consummate professional, and we often saw him working late hours in his office and double checking an apartment before lease. Talk about a perfectionist! We never had an issue with management, and they were always kind and understanding. What was great? The apartment's location exists in a convenient area on the southwest side of town, and everything's accessible including Interstate 10. The property is very convenient if you work in this area. The area feels safe, and you often see local police making routine rounds in the area. The guard is reliable, and he or she always guards at the most important times, whether it's rain or shine. Further, the apartment is zoned to SBISD, which is a great school district in the area. The property is cute and beautiful with a Southern-Bayou feel. Different foliage outline the property with wide staircases and case-iron outlays. It has a comfortable atmosphere and with the foliage comes adequate shade, which is important when considering electricity and air conditioning usage. Neighbors are private, kind, and keep to themselves. We were always busy, so we never had time to mingle although Robert and others invited us to some celebratory events that they hosted which was very thoughtful. The property is very quiet compared to some other apartments that we stayed in, and we never had any issues with noise. The property was well maintained, and there was trash pick-up all the time! which was great. Management always responded to any issues. What to consider? Rent was reasonable for the area. In my opinion, when we lived there, I think the rent was comparable and when considering safety as a primary concern, then the rent was worth it. There were always maintenance crews performing routine procedures. Even though these crews are around quite a bit, I think it was great that they were actually performing their duties, and they all worked quickly in a workmanlike manner. Other places that I have lived in never had prompt service compared to Creole! I did not mind crews diligently performing to our expectations. We recommend this private, cozy property to anyone looking for a great location to live in on the southwest side of town! Thank you Memorial Creole! Thank you Memorial Creole! -Mari Lee”
— 10220 MEMORIAL DR · Houston“Today was my move out day at Memorial Creole, and I am truly sorry to be packing up my stuff and moving out. I told Robert (the amazing property manager) today that the only reason in the world that I'd decided to leave was because my partner and I wanted to move in together and he already owns a home. I would recommend Memorial Creole to anyone that is looking for a calm, peaceful apartment community. I chose Memorial Creole for several reasons. Although it was at the upper end of my price range, I valued the great location, safety, and the quiet grounds. Location is pretty much unbeatable. One of the only apartment complexes in Memorial. 30 seconds from I10. Not to mention, it was very close to my office as well as my parents' home. Regarding safety, it's my understanding that there has never once been a break in at the apartments in the 40-some odd years they've existed. I ALWAYS felt safe there, and as a young female, that's unfortunately hard to say about a lot of places. The only entrance is watched by a security guard from dusk 'til dawn, and during the day, there is a good amount of foot traffic by staff and retired residents, both of whom are very watchful of any suspicious activity or guests. Lastly, I've NEVER seen an apartment complex that was so peaceful and quiet. Other residents are uncommonly respectful of your privacy, while still being very personable and friendly. It's generally an older crowd and a lot of families with children. No reckless driving in the parking lots, no drunk teenagers at the pool. Just blissfully quiet and calm. I could go on and on about how great the place is. The impeccable landscaping (you're allowed to eat the fruits that come off the trees!), the fact that Robert invited me to his birthday party, the quick and thorough maintenance, the beautiful updated apartment interiors, the thrice-weekly valet trash service...the place was great. Best experience I've ever had. If my situation ever changes, I'll be back at Memorial Creole with Robert in a heartbeat!”
— 10220 MEMORIAL DR · Houston“The Property Manager Robert is amazing!! I am a realtor and when I saw the property and met him I knew that this was not going to be the only client I moved into Memorial Creole. I look forward to working with him again and having another satisfied client move into this property.”
— 10220 MEMORIAL DR · Houston“very nice safe & quite complex , I lived here with my family more than 4 years, maintenance and staff excellent , neighbor very kind no noise ,overall is great Yes, I would recommend Memorial Creole. Mr. Naym family 08/26/13”
— 10220 MEMORIAL DR · Houston“Memorial Creole is so private and secluded, you may miss it as you drive down Memorial Street. I enjoyed the 4-1/2 years I lived there. Robert is by far the best manager they have had (and they have had a few). He has fabulous people skills and keeps the residents very happy! The property is well kept and very tropical. It felt like a vacation! I lived without a washer/dryer for years, but now they are upgrading and remodeling all the apartments to have washers and dryers, marble countertops and new cabinets. The flooring is wood for the downstairs units....I moved to Kemah to be closer to my son, or I would have stayed and let them upgrade mine!! My balconies (front and back) were fabulous! An enjoyable extension of my apartment. I would move back in a heart beat if I decided to move back to the city!!!”
— 10220 MEMORIAL DR · Houston“Excellent community. This is not your cookie cutter apartment complex. Service response is quick. Management listens, acknowledges, and carries out the solution. The management also keeps the community in top shape. Reserved, covered parking is nice. Best apartment I have ever lived in.”
— 10220 MEMORIAL DR · Houston“It is very old (1950 s) complex, inside of the apartments are full of dust, some of these could be asbestos since age of the apartments well over 60 years. Management has been trying cover up the problems instead of fixing it. Under the carpets floors are full of molds. Parking lot is terrible.”
— 10220 MEMORIAL DR · Houston“It is the worst apartment complex in the town. Tap water is unusable brownish color, no maintains, management is liar and terrible. Units are more than 50 years old, no painting nothing. It is not much different than refugee camps at Angola.”
