The communication with residents is poor. I’ve literally sent the same email 3 times and called with no response. They try to attach ridiculous fees with no communication. No upgrades has been done to my apartment, yet the rent goes up every renewal about $100.”
— 11245 W RD. · HOUSTON“My leasing consultant was alanzo , I viewed this properly two times in a row and what I seen and what I got was two different things ! He advised if the unit is 700 sqft or high you will get an garage which was my concern because on the reviews it state they take tires from cars so that was very important to me . We walked the property not once was I informed of any c building which are apartments located in the office which reminds me of a motel 6 not to mention smells like cigarettes weed and pets ! No air in the halls ways ! I got my keys and my apartment is not what I imagine not even close !! Not to mention on the floor plan it don’t tell you what unit has garages are not which is why I asked question ! I moved 3 days ago on 4/19 and it has been horrible ! Office people don’t care of the situation no apology have even been offered for they mistake just horrible !!! Here is my email I sent to corporate and my picture of this nasty unit they put me and my child in not work 1275 one bit Good morning , I spoke with Stacy and since she doesn’t have time to take a look at the unit they have moved me an my child in I’ll just show them to you since I’m not able to speak with you .. The washer doesn’t work There is mold in my restroom This is mold in my kitchen pantry idk how that’s even possible unless there is something on the inside of the walls ! The cracks are not properly sealed around my restroom counter it’s actually moves. These tubs are yellow not properly cleaned The medicine cabinet are nasty inside not properly cleaned The plug socks are not properly attached which not to mention again and have a child living here ! The balcony blinds are cracked My sons room blinds are broken The oven is nasty There is cracks in the wall The restroom cabinets are horrible, doesn’t even look like there where cleaned at all !! How can you move someone in an apartment like this !! How can your leasing agent be ok with putting someone here I have a CHILD ! This is not how I imagined my move in here I absolutely strongly dislike it here”
— 11245 W RD. · HOUSTON“I moved during the pandemic to this property back in May of 2020. From the beginning the management has been extremely helpful, genuine and understanding. I have been there ever since, my plan was to have one year term lease then move but circumstances change. I was able to have a smooth transition to a larger 2 bed/2 bath apartment with ease. Tara, has been heaven sent. She is also delightful, pleasant and willingly to go the extra mile any time, I have interacted with her. It makes it so much more easier to deal with someone who is nice.”
— 11245 W RD. · HOUSTON“I literally just made an account to write this review for the horrible customer service I have received during my stay here, ever since the new management took over this property went downhill the MANAGER STACY is extremely disrespectful, careless and so so RUDE as most of these reviews already say, I have been a good resident here always paid my rent on time and never placed a complaint even though my work orders havent been completed, somehow I still get treated very poorly is almost like she is discriminating me. Also her assistant Claudia is very impolite and RUDE, I had a question regarding a balance in my account I went into the office to clarify things and to pay off my balance (which was not rent related because I always make sure to pay on time) but before that I wanted to see what the charges were. Mind you this was our first time ever meeting and as soon as she saw me she talked to me with such a strong unpleasant and very very unprofessional attitude she refused to explain to me in detail what the charges were because as she told me “you can just log in to your portal and see for yourself” but the reason why I went in the first place was because I didn’t understand, it wasn't like I was asking for something aside of her duty to do to get treated in such way. she then proceeded to say that she wasn’t going to renew me and when i asked why she pretty much had me confused with another resident, and of course she did not apologize for that… Fast forward to today, I am now being threatened with an eviction for not vacating my apartment on the 26 of this month but I paid until the end of the month which STACY had agreed for me to do, now she acts like that never happened goes and reversed my payment and now shows as if I have a credit and is demanding to turn in keys with less than a 4 days notice, I also told her I wanted to renew and I am getting told lies on why I cant. I am a trucker and not in town how am I supposed to find a place in 3 business days, vacate it, clean it with such a short notice. I really like this place, it really sucks that it has to be run my poorly management. I am not the type to complain but I feel like you might want to know what your next home could be like.”
— 11245 W RD. · HOUSTON“This has been the worst experience places I have ever lived!!! I only lived here for 9 months and I got out as quickly as I could! Maintenance problems: The unit I lived in flooded 3 times and each time the maintenance and office staff took their sweet time getting to me to fix it. During the winter storm my apartment got water damage from the pipes inthe wall that I share with my neighbor. I ended up missing 4 days of work because I would be told that someone is coming that day, I would confirm with the staff in the office and then no one would show up. That's 4 days of no pay for them just to say opps our bad, someone will come tomorrow. They didn't even finish fixing my apartment, so I could not use my second bedroom and bathroom from February 2021 - May 2021 when I moved out. I had water damage from the windows and roof leaking when it would rain. My A/C unit was old and would leak to the point of flooding my hallway and the office wouldn't send anyone for hours. When they would send someone they would be like oh it's fine. Like so all of this water coming out and spreading on my floor is normal? My electric bill while living here tripled! Thankfully the price is back to normal at the new apartment complex I'm at (mind you the new place is bigger). Lastly the last 2-3 weeks that I lived at this horrible apartment complex my washer flooded the laundry room and came into the living room. It happened at night and I called the emergency maintenance number and of course no one came. Though I believe her name is Susan, the manager, did call and said "if it is just a few drops or if it is barely dripping then it is not a maintenance emergency and I should just call back the next day. I called her back and explain that there is sitting water on the floor and water coming out from behind the washer and NO ONE CAME! I called the next day and no one came. I called again and spoke with a new girl she said she would get maintenance on it BUT NO ONE CAME! STAFF: I want to start off by saying Daisy and the new black girl who's name escapes me were the only people that were helpful and even seemed to care if something happened. Claudia is beyond rude!! I'll repeat CLAUDIA is BEYOND RUDE! When I was dealing with the winter storm damage and would call the office in regards to the contractors coming out she flat out told me what else do I want l, she has other people to deal with (with attitude). And when I came up the front office to speak with her in person another day regarding the same winter storm damage, she refused to see me. I was so appalled at the lack of professionalism and that they have her in the front dealing with people. Moral of the story...dont rely on them to fix your apartments even if it's flooding or the A/C isn't working and expect them to be rude about it if you ask.”
“It takes forever for maintenance to fix things, Manager just don't seem to care about the residents. You have leasing agent being rude to the residents it's really sad that we have to go through this at this time. If they can focus on getting things fix in a timey manner,”
— 11245 W RD. · HOUSTON“The staff has gotten better, since I moved in. New management made great changes from what they were last year. Kudos to Cheryl and Guen! If you want a smiling face anytime you come to the office with a question, this is the place for you. #117A”
— 11245 W RD. · HOUSTON“I have lived here now about 6 months. I waited before posting a review to get the feel for the place. Move in was a little hectic as I learned the day before move in that the downstairs unit was given to someone else and I ended up with the upstairs unit. The apt was not completely ready for move in, but I was here and that was that. I accepted the fact I would be upstairs, and now it seems to be a happy mistake. I enjoy sitting on the patio when I have time, and its relaxing. Sure you can hear kids playing and there are some seedy looking types but, I am fortunate enough to live in the back area and it is for the most part pretty quiet. I seen one little roach at move in, but I got him and not seen any since. Sometime we get an email heads up for the exterminator and you have the option of having the inside done, I always go for that whenever I get a notice, not monthly like I was told at move in though. They have a new manager and she seems to be on the ball pretty well. I have not seen crime, but I do notice people walking around late at night that should probably be watched. Rules are not followed well by a lot of people like the evening trash valet pickup, it;s supposed to be put out after 6 pm and before 8pm but my neighbors leave the supplied trash cans in front of their doors 24/7 and pile up trash anytime of the day, so that's not so nice to see coming home from work everyday and it concerns me it might attract roaches. I know they renovated a few years ago but I do see it was not a full renovation upgrade, with minor issues noticeable such as the freezer door getting ice cycles in it and after a few times out to fix it, I just quit notifying them. Overall experience has been very nice, I am comfortable here. Maintenance has been very quick to respond, simply sign in to the resident portal and post your issue, they come out within a day. Emergency maintenance has been here once, on a Sunday evening, and fixed my A/C circuit breaker within a hour of calling, I was very impressed being I just returned home from business trip and it was hot out and hotter inside. The valet trash pick up is nice. I have seen bad reviews from others but I'm not in their shoes and can't comment only to say I've not had the troubles they have. Each time I've seen the front gates not working, they were always fixed by the time I got home, and that's only been twice. Maintenance walks the property each morning picking up trash from the less desirable that feel tossing it out of their cars is just OK but you're going to get that mind set element most anywhere in some fashion. All in all, it's a nice place to call home with normal rental property issues.”
“We absolutely LOVED this place for the first 5 months we lived here and that was because of Cheryl. She was awesome and made sure everything was taken care of quickly. She made going to the office a joy because you would always leave with a smile. We had not seen her in awhile and finally found out that she had been moved to a sister property because "tenants were complaining about her attitude". That is just a lie because if you ask any tenant here, they love her. I, personally, think that the office staff didn't like her because everyone wanted to deal with her and not them. After she left, it all went downhill. They had been promising a dog park from before we moved in (our lease is up in 1.5 months and there is still no sign of a dog park) but they decided to renovate their office instead. It looks like ----. It looks like a 70's nightclub now and the new guys that are working there are about as ------ as the renovation. Maria - I have no clue what her position is but I think assistant manager - UGH! She is a full blown b****! She does not care about the tenants (or the people looking for that matter), she always has an attitude and god forbid she has to actually do something. She is awful and she is the one that we now have to deal with on a daily basis. The lights outside our building and the building across from us have been out for 6 months. I have requested them to be fixed several times but nope, nothing. There are holes in the fence that people can walk through - very safe. There is a kid I see all the time who will ride around the property on his bike and go in and out of the fence. I feel super safe when I have to take my dogs out at night...NOT. That has been complained about too and the holes are still there. The entrance gates are constantly broken. I think that MAYBE there was a month period where all 4 worked at the same but usually we can all just come and go without using our gate card. Again - super safe. My car has been broken into twice. They say that there is an officer that patrols at night but I have never seen him. I take my dogs out multiple times a night, every night and have yet to see anyone. Oh and we just found out there is a registered sex offender living here and we were never told. I encourage you to go look on the Texas Sex Offender Registry. He's living here with all the kids that play in the playground area unsupervised. There are also tons of gunshots in the area and in the last month there have been some that were in the complex itself. Valet trash pickup is another complaint. The company who runs the valet trash service is AMAZING! They are always on time and they are super nice. I know that picking up trash is not an ideal job but you would never guess when they greet you with a smile. Managements handling of matters is another story. They have a simple rule - do not put your trash out before 6 pm or you will get a fine. It is absolutely disgusting here. People put their trash out whenever they want and do not care. I have seen torn open trash bags, trash in the grass that was not in a trash bag at all, and trash piled so high it was about to fall over. They do not fine people or give a crap. Our service comes Sunday-Thursday night so Friday and Saturday you can either put your trash in your garage or take it to the dumpster (which is also disgusting and I feel bad for the people who live by them). There is trash out from Friday morning and just builds up until Sunday night. During Christmas and New Years, the service took Sunday and Monday off (totally understandable) and it was a cesspool of disgustingness yet these people still put their trash out everyday and keep being gross so they obviously aren't getting in trouble from the office. And finally, the rent! It is ridiculous. We got our renewal notice and our rent had gone up $200! We did not get any crazy "move in discount" that made our rent super cheap this last year. My significant other asked the office people why it was so expensive ($1600 for a 2 bedroom!) and they said (and I quote), "because we did not get flooded by Harvey". That is such -------- that they are going to screw people who did get flooded and those of us who didn't and just want a place to live. I will say that my neighbors are great and I have not had any issues with anyone who lives here, but management does not care and they are letting this place go to hell. I know a few of the people I talk to on my doggy potty walks are moving out at the end of their lease because of how bad this place has gotten over the past 6 months. Every time I see someone in the office or on a tour I want to yell out "DO NOT RENT HERE!" but I don't so I will say it in the reviews. We were loving this place and were set to stay here for at least a couple years before Cheryl left. It is really sad how one person can make a complex so great. Please please please go look at other places to live!”
“Very helpful in the front office moved into apartment with no problems, Good Service. Apartments are updated nice and clean in and outside of the property. Quite And Gated community. Good appliances and great workout and pool area.”
— 11245 W RD. · HOUSTON“"These are great apartments in a great area. They are a bit older and that brings some issues, but the maintenance and office staff are always friendly and quick to respond to such issues. I have loved my time here and will always recommend it to others."If your looking for apartment talk to Maria Vergara.”
— 11245 W RD. · HOUSTON“I've lived at this community for 3 years and love it here! The people inside the office are really cool and helpful. I moved here from Colorado Springs, CO, and while I miss the beauty of Colorado, I am more happy with my living situation here! The apartment I live in is really nice and I haven't had any issues with maintenance like I had in the old place. The pools are clean and the weather out here allows me to enjoy them all summer long. I'm getting married soon and will be moving to a house with my soon to be wife. I'll miss my apartment, the people at the office, and I'll miss having a pool for sure. Great place to live! I suggest checking it out! The people in the office know I love it here and asked me to leave a review so here it is. :) - Thank you for everything!”
— 11245 W RD. · HOUSTON“In today's society we all are so busy or pre-occupied that we don't have time to share our thoughts or opinions unless of course we are angry or disappointed in something, then human nature makes it a priority. Today as I sit back a reflect on my 7 years of living in this community and having the day off, I just want to take a few moment to share my thoughts on my current living experiences at this property. The last few years the property has went through some significant changes and I have seen a drastic improvement in the last year on all aspects such as CUSTOMER SERVICE. Attention to work orders being done in a timely manner. Crime issues are all but gone these days. A few years back we had numerous criminal behaviors going on and the previous manager seemed reluctant to admit this as it was a refection of her inability to address the issues. It was around that time that I never felt like a valued resident and more like the property was a corporate monster. The only reasons I ended up staying was the changes in the management office under her. They seemed to be able to do all the simple things a resident would want in a community. And then not too long ago I meet the new property supervisor and she listen to me for 30 minutes about what I had to say then soon after the old manager was no longer here. The last year seems like night and day in the way the I personally view of valued I am as a resident and I have started reaching out to my friends and family to consider living her.”
— 11245 W RD. · HOUSTON“I AM SO UNHAPPY with my choice to move here. Yep, it was my choice but I got offered a lot of specials. I regret it now.... I would have rather no specials & had not moved here. My 2nd month here, we had issues with pest control that took a month to fix because they pest control company is TERRIBLE (they lie). Our ac broke when I requested a new thermostat ( I purchased it). And NOW THE MAILBOXES HAVE BEEN BROKEN INTO & im missing mail. The office staff doesnt seem to care, they say they are taking care of it. I wont believe til i see it. Nor did they mention if theyre gonna hold our mail til its fixed or if the post office is..... I WANT TO MOVE, but As of right now I can't afford to break the lease. I do NOT RECOMMENDED THIS --------.”
— 11245 W RD. · HOUSTON“I downsized to a 1 bedroom when I sold my house. I wasn't really sure what to expect based on other reviews, but I've been pleasantly surprised at how friendly the office has been. I haven't lived in an apartment in 8 years and had a lot of questions when I leased. Amanda was super helpful and patiently answered all of them before I moved in and even the ones I've had since then. Maintenance has taken care of the 2 orders I put in fairly quickly. I can hear my neighbors on rare occasions but they aren't obnoxiously loud. Overall I really like my apartment and plan to get a two bedroom when my lease is up.”
— 11245 W RD. · HOUSTON“This place really isn't that bad. I've been here for about 3 years, and looking to renew my lease just in a different unit. Yes, before the upgrades things were a bit old, but worth the upgrades it's actually really nice. If I ever had any maintinence issues it's usually fixed within 24 hours. When my ac went out they fixed it the same day. The only thing that bothers me most is the roaches in the summer time. We have to kill 2-3 every couple of days and with babies it gets quite annoying having to climb walls to kill them. Would I recommend it- yes. Cheryl at the front desk is just purely amazing. She's very personable and does her best to keep tenants happy. If you're looking to rent be sure to ask for Cheryl. Oh and for those saying things about breakins, of the 3 years I've been here I've only heard of 1, and usually management is very good about communication and letting everyone else know to be safe.”
— 11245 W RD. · HOUSTON“I have been living in Houston for many years and this is the WORST apartment I have lived. The leasing manager, property manager and management company are not at all concerned about their residents. There are multiple break ins in the year that I lived there. The spa is dirty and not working multiple times, The computers and printers for residents don't work, the security gate is always broken so anyone can drive in. They even charged me for electricity for days after my move out date. Horrible management!!!!! DONT MOVE HERE.”
— 11245 W RD. · HOUSTON“So unorganized. When they say they will take care of something they never do. I have a balance with Rent Recovery for almost a year now. We moved out last May and they charged us for something outside our front door, which we've never seen before. Someone must of dropped it off there. How can you charge someone for something sitting OUTSIDE of you're apt. Over the summer they agreed and gave me an updated statement of $0. I followed up in August, November, January and now February and it is still on my credit with rent recovery.”
— 11245 W RD. · HOUSTON“Where do I start......The office staff are soo lazy and rude! Not to mention I reserved the event center for my baby shower, I walked in and the place was a mess. Old food in the refrigerator that smelled. I feel like these apartments are over priced. maintenance takes forever and a day to fix ----! One day it was raining outside and the water was just pouring in my apartment and they didn't even consider that an emergency. DO NOT MOVE HERE OVERPRICED OVERPRICED OVERPRICED!!!!!!”
— 11245 W RD. · HOUSTON“I enjoy the quiet community. I have lived here for over 4 years. It feels like home”
— 11245 W RD. · HOUSTON“My boyfriend and I moved in two months ago into our townhome and we love all the extra space & garage. Leasing staff was very helpful and they have events where you can get to know your neighbors, perfect for us since we are new to the area. I had a couple issues with my washing machine but maintenance was able to get it fixed and working fast. The location is perfect since we are close to 3 grocery stores and to major highways here in Houston. Don't miss going by to see an apartment because I know we love living here.”
— 11245 W RD. · HOUSTON“my husband and I went to tour the apartment last year in august we loved everything about it the leasing agent was amazing and still is. we quickly signed the lease and moved in. just maybe 3 months after we moved in we had our apartment broken in to so much for the security they have patrolling he does nothing but sit in his vehicle in one area. the apartment upgrades looked great at first but then realized that they have done a crappy job. we had the worst neighbors she complaint about everything she even complaint about my husband parking his truck in front of her door, hello its not your parking you don't pay for it. the other neighbor is a drug dealer you will see cars coming in and out at all hours of the day.we ended moving out after the year was up, I couldn't deal with the high rent and annoying neighbors. if you are going to pay top money look around you will find something much nicer.”
— 11245 W RD. · HOUSTON“I have lived at this complex for a year now. I pay 1056 for a one bedroom one bath. The inside does have some nice upgrades, mostly in the kitchen, but for the cost of rent, the service is not up to par! Maintenance requests are the worst! Be prepared to have to make several calls about the same issue before receiving a maintenance person to come to your apartment. I have had several issues with my air condition. These issues occurred during the hot summer months,so I assumed they would've been top priority but they weren't. There is a drain that hangs over the tub as an emergency drain for the air conditioner;that drain has been leaking for 3 days now. Not only is it dripping cold water all day and night, but it is also dripping soot as well. Needless to say, this is very unsanitary to have that dripping down on you while you are showering. Also, retreat at steeplechase has now begin accepting section 8 vouchers a neighbor told me. I haven't asked the leasing office staff about this yet,but it is pretty much evident in the new wave of tenants that have recently moved in. The entrance gate is almost never closed, and if it is,9 times out of 10,your access card is not going to work. Retreat is not the worse place to live, but it is definitely NOT worth the premium rent that they are charging their residents!”
— 11245 W RD. · HOUSTON“I moved into The Retreat at Steeplechase in March 2015. I moved from a home of 27 years so the 2 car garage was a plus for me! Before moving in the office staff was over friendly, afterwards they were a bit dry, especially when I came in with complaints, they seem better now. What I don't like about the apartment is the master bedroom tub has a "sinks" in the middle making you have to plant your feet on each side of the sink to balance, the drain in both bathrooms are ugly/rusty/peeling, cutting out my bubble baths, the face basins seem to be washing away revealing rust spots, I guess they were re-painted. My last negative issue is the front gate has been broke for 7+ weeks and I have been informed it will be out until 2016, the gate budget for 2015 is out! But we do have security on the property. Another plus is the gym, free amenities and activities. Nowhere is "perfect" but so far I am happy!”
