“This property is horrible. The management is terrible, maintenence is non existence. The washer and dryer rooms are disgusting and continually flood. Half the residents don't speak English and the manger Maria will never talk to residents when they have a problem. This is nothing more han a section 8 type property that over charges for their apartments. DO not waste you money here!”
— 1111 Blalock Rd · Houston“Keep looking. We are moving out and will not renew the lease. I wouldn't recommend this complex to anyone. Horrible lack of service to current residence after you have moved in. This is coming from many residents here not just me. You will never get a human on the phone ever no one will ever return your calls and when you finally find someone at the office they give you the look. Live Roaches in the bathtub, kitchen, pantry. Hardly any running water pressure is so low you can hardly wash your dishes test it you'll see. I have heard them say it's a city issue. A lot of drug activity here. People that don't live here hanging around all hours of the night. Broken down wrecked and totalled vehicles allowed to be stored here. The lease says no vicious dogs yet pit bulls Shepard's etc are everywhere. People leave their dogs locked in hot garages. Broken sidewalks, if something breaks good luck they will never show up or return your calls, broken glass from smashed car windows, no mention of any courtesy officer on site, when you call the office after hours there no dispatch for after hours maintenance issues. Cars flooded during Harvey and the complex street area floods during downpours. Loud music late at night. HPD has been called but they are busy and take a while to show up. Broken down washers and dryers. Washed a ton of clothes only for the new washers to have a broken spin cycle had to load soaking wet clothes in my car on my leather seats. Neighbors say the staff list good reviews themselves in order to overshadow the truth. More people than not are moving when their lease is up. Next call will be to the property owners and to the management company or the news. Don't waste your money it's expensive and it's all cosmetic. Promise of pool and gym has never happened. They just show you the upgrades but the work is shoddy. Tiny bathtubs, old.”

— 1111 Blalock Rd · Houston“These apartments have had bad service for a long time but new management has blown the old one out the water. Terrible, terrible.management. They are doing "renovations" and inconveniencing every tenent on the mean time.”
— 1111 Blalock Rd · Houston“If you move here, and you have more than one car, then you will a nightmare. Another problem is the roaches.”
— 1111 Blalock Rd · Houston“the ------- girl is RUDE AS HELL. She has no personality whatsoever, I tried leasing here and she was just straight up, did not smile, did not hesitate on providing excellent customer service skills. she was racism and she looks ------------ and more ------- than me she looks ------. If she wants to work with people she needs to be working at a funeral home instead. Glad I did not move here. I hope that that latin girl in the front desk gets fired soon b/c she has no human personality whatsoever. i walked to the next property complex behind them CEDAR BRANCH APARTMENTS and woowww what a difference a polite and very nice lady there with a lot of customer service skill , finally she shows me the new remodeled units . at the end i find my home and sign my lease,. woow im glad that i stay here.”
— 1111 Blalock Rd · Houston“These apartments are terrible. My husband was robbed at gunpoint and we constantly hear gun shots and guys walking around smoking. I' am pregnant and have a 1yr old daughter. After the incident the damn "office staff" still has not notified residents of the situation for their safety. I feel as though Irene does not care for the residents and has a very bad attitude. I would not recommend these apt. to anybody. AWFUL!!”
— 1111 Blalock Rd · Houston“I LIVE ON PROPERTY AND I AGREE THAT THE OFFICE MANAGER IRENE IS HORRIBLE. SHE DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO PICK HER BATTLES. SHE WILL HASSLE TENANTS FOR MINOR ISSUES, FOR EXAMPLE HAVING ONE TOO MANY PEOPLE LIVING IN ONE UNIT, BUT IS NOT CONSISTENT. SHE HAS ALLOWED A CONVICTED SEX OFFENDER TO RESIDE ON PROPERTY WHICH IS SO IRONIC IS THE APARTMENT RIGHT NEXT TO THE OFFICE. THE COMPLEX IS FULL OF CHILDREN LIVING THERE AND IRENE HAS DONE NOTHING TO HAVE THE SEX OFFENDER EVICTED. PARKING IS A BIG ISSUE AND YES THE AIR CONDITIONING IS VERY BAD. THE MAINTENCE GUY THAT WORKS ON THE AIR CONDITIONING IS WORTHLESS AND WALKS AROUND DOING NOTHING ALL DAY. I WILL BE MOVING OUT AT THE END OF MY LEAST IN DECEMBER. DO NOT MOVE HERE VERY ------!!!!!!!!”
— 1111 Blalock Rd · Houston“BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This apartment complex is a nightmare. Breakins and crime, office staff is awful (any idiot can get a job here) Irene is rude and does not have any idea on how to treat people. They will nickel and dime you for everything but when a repair is needed they will do the basic and nothing else. The rats can be seen roaming around. The security guard goes around honking his damn horn at all times. Parking is a nightmare, you have to park far away. They break into cars daily and steal tires. I go to sleep thinking if my car will be there in the morning. Loud music on weekends and evenings and drug usage is rampant. Old apartments with horrible insulation, in the summer it is soooo hot and in the winter it is cold. Energy bills are high because of that. My average bill is $200 and I am careful to not use a lot of energy to save money. Overall I would not recomend this place, the staff especially the maintence people are untrustworthy. There are rumors they break into peoples homes since they have a key and it has credibility.”
— 1111 Blalock Rd · Houston“the hassle is not worth living here, the office staff has no clue how to treat people, especially irene. loud music on weekends and constant break ins into cars and apartments. the police is always on property, nothing ever gets really fixed, this apartment is horrible for the rent they charge, next to a bayou and the rats are a common sight. good luck if you move into this dump. the maintenence people are all lazy and some i wonder if they are the ones breaking into peoples apartments. no working laundry on property and no pool. it is close to everything but the crowd that rents here is awful and scary, dope dealers everywhere, and sometimes prostitutes can be seen walking around, and the police questioning them. not a place for families, look down the street and you will find better apartments and cleaner. parking is impossible after 4pm, you have to park so far away.”
— 1111 Blalock Rd · Houston“MOVED HERE BECAUSE OF $99 MOVE IN SPECIAL..... BIGGEST REGRET OF MY LIFE. THIS APARTMENT (ROACH MOTEL) IS UNSAFE AND UNSANITARY. IF YOU LIKE FECES AND RAW SEWAGE SPEWING FROM THE DRAINS AND NO ONE TO CLEAN IT THEN THIS IS THE PERFECT PLACE FOR YOU.... IF YOU LIKE YOUR HOME BROKEN INTO WHILE YOU ARE AWAY WORKING THEN WELCOME THIS PLACE IS MEANT FOR YOU... IF YOU LIKE YOUR CAR BROKEN INTO THEN THIS PLACE IS FOR YOU... I HAVE SEEN RATS ROAMING THE COMPLEX AND ROACHES EVERYWHERE.... PARKING IS A NIGHTMARE IF YOU ARRIVE PAST 4PM YOU WILL HAVE TO PARK SO FAR. A WOMAN WAS RAPED IN THIS COMPLEX, PEOPLE GET ROBED ALL THE TIME, AND THE PREDOMINANTLY MEXICAN CROWD ENJOYS THEIR WEEKEND BY STAYING OUTSIDE LATE DRINKING AND LISTENING TO LOUD MUSIC. THE PRICE FOR THE APARTMENT IS ALMOST $1000 A MONTH (NOT WORTH IT) YOU WILL REGRET MOVING HERE.... THE OFFICE STAFF IS NOT HELPFUL AND PUT OFF ALL MAJOR WORK THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE INSIDE THE APARTMENT. DO NOT MOVE HERE KEEP LOOKING. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.”
— 1111 Blalock Rd · Houston“I've lived here with my family i got the lease for 6 months and i want to get out now! These apartments really really really suck! The "manager's" are LAZY! there so un professional there attitude are nasty, rude, i mean they are very un professional my car got broken into they stoled some very valuable stuff I reported it to the manager they said there not responsible for any damages. Parking suck you only get one parking spot and they charge u 60$ to get another one and the gang bangers. T take. Racks orthe”
— 1111 Blalock Rd · Houston“I have lived in lots of Houston area apartments, and this one is the most professionally run. Great office staff, good maintenance, good rates. I would recommend this place to any one. The apartments are showing a little age, but that means that the trees are also tall and shady. Beautiful in summer!”
— 1111 Blalock Rd · Houston“Well I moved in last September with their $99 move-in special, hidden fees, not even app fee nor a deposit. Which was good. I fell in love with the apartment layout, nice and spacious. However, after having moved in the problems began. Community is quiet over all but it's an open property with little to no surveilence. My vehicle got keyed overnight, my roomate's vehicle got keyed as well and not to mention my guest's car got keyed when they came to visit one day. Regarding security, there's a resident who happens to be some sort of cop with little english communication who drives around early in the morning, or in the middle of the night at random days, not every day on a Blue Ford Explorer with a siren on and it's really annoying b/c it wakes me and other residents up. Parking is horrible, if you're not in by 6PM then you're bound to fight for parking or park far away from your apartment if you do not have an assigned covered parking. They're maintenance staff is great, every time I reported a problem in the morning they'd be in that same day and when I would come home from work, the problem was usually fixed with no problem and they would leave a note stating they'd come in with their name or initial. Office staff is just great. Props to the women running this complex. They were always so kind, proffesional and attentive to the residents. Very good location overall, next to the Katy Freeway, Memorial Mall, the Marq*e venue, Bunker Hill Shopping Center, etc. Overall I would reccomend this place if you're a single person, or couple. Not reccomended for families with children due to the fact that there's no playground on site, no pool, no ammenities of any kind.”
— 1111 Blalock Rd · Houston“We had lived here around 7 or 8 years ago and everything was going good.We decided to come back since nothing bad had happened during the time but... it was a BIG mistake!!! They brooked in 2 times in one YEAR ... The apartment people did nothing more than send a friking letter sayin that they where not responsable for our safety!! ..what kind of people are those!!!!????? MAINTNANCE PEOPLE TAKING YOUR STUFF NOOOOOOO!! THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU ...THEY WANT YOUR MONEYY!!... BE SAFE SOMEWHERE ELSE:)”
— 1111 Blalock Rd · Houston“I've lived at this apartment for 6 years. When i 1st moved in, the place was kid friendly, since then, they've torn down the play ground and filled in the three pools.. there is nothing for kids to do at this complex.. The type of rentes, well, primarly mexican. This month, i was Robbed by contractors contracted by the aparment to do repairs in the apartment next door, which required them accessing the attic through our apartment, $400 was stolen and the apartment complex takes no responsibility.. hmmmm Well, i'm given my notice to them, based on them allowing thieves to enter renters apartments, steal and not make good on it.. I would NEVER rent here again.. Bad management and not Kid friendly”
— 1111 Blalock Rd · Houston“I love it when you read a review and it is all negative. People leave their purse in their car, and expect it to not be stolen? Nobody is perfect, but the size of by apartment for the dollar is great. Maintenance does their job well, and if I wanted gates around the apartment complex, I guess I would have to pay those high rental rates at other complexes. I know that I am not getting ripped off at this complex, and I am smart enough not to leave stuff in my ride. Inlike my disgruntled neighbor who needs a new purse of coming home a little tipsy a couple of months ago...”
— 1111 Blalock Rd · Houston“There is so many undocumented people that living in these apartment its not right. I have 2 kids and do not let them play out side,. since its not safe to do so if you really care for them. I have to secure everything before going to bed, I had to buy the motion sensor, window alarms, camera, double locks with no handles, and laser inferred, 360 peep hole, and much much more!! including protection devices. Boys I sleep better at night I guess accept for the little gang members that like walking by late at night and hang out. If I was the Mng of Blalock Woods Apt this is what I would do; FIVE THINGS FOR FIVESTARS 1.ANY ONE WALKING AT NIGHT MUST BE ID AND LOGGED WITH PHOTO 2.NO LOUD MUSIC (IF SO REPORT THE LICENSE PLATE OR APT) 3.NO HANGING OUT IN THE STREET 4.NO PARKING IN THE RED ZONE 5.NO HANGING OUT IN THE GARAGE OR REPAIRS, IF YOU NEED TO WORK ON YOU CAR CLOSE THE GARAGE DOOR. THIS KEEPS FOLKS FROM HANGING OUT. Well this is what is needed to be a good place to live! if anyone thinks I am right please copy and email this letter to the apartments at Blalock Woods and maybe by everyone bringing this to there attention something will be done? (we can make a change) fight for your rights! You pay rent they only manage the apartment and this is what they should manage. Also these apartment have been in a flood and have mold, apartment mng try to hide it by just painting over it. I am a XCommission Officer and I seen the good the bad and the ugly! And for all you good folks that do the right thing in life and if your looking for a apartment (THIS APARTMENT IS NOT FOR YOU) I am moving out and hope that ICE HOMELAND SECURITY READS THIS. So they wash these bad folks that should not be here. Thank you for your time in reading my long blog..”
— 1111 Blalock Rd · Houston“i lived on the first floor. the apartment above me had a bad leak and eventually half of my bedroom ceiling collapsed. The apartments took 3 days to help me. THE GIRLS ANSWERING THE PHONE ARE DUMMYS THEY DONT KNOW THE FIRST THING ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY ARE SO DAMN RUDE AND UNHELPFUL AND NEVER PUT ORDERS INTO MAINTENANCE AND NEVER EVER CALL YOU BACK. When the apartments helped they just slabbed puddy all over my ceiling and didnt even replace the molded carpet until 4 weeks later. there is still mold in my walls from when the ceiling hung over. take a mold specialist out there he can prove to you how infested it is with mold. they are horrible. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
— 1111 Blalock Rd · Houston“If you love freeway noise, boom-box cars at ALL hours, fearing for your life and worrying whether you'll make it from your car to the door, then this is the place for you! This joint is owned by the Frost family (think Frost bank) and brings a whole new meaning to indifference and stupidity. It was built in the 1970's and needs to be knocked down because everything is either rotten or broken. I've been in the attic and there is no insulation in a lot of spots. Electric bills are sky-high. The idiots in management saw that my A/C was totally rusted out and literally falling apart and tried to tell me it was in perfect working order! They wouldn't do anything even though it was 95 degrees in my apartment until I managed to schedule a city health inspector to come out! You can hear anything above a whisper in the neighbors apartment and you will never really sleep because someone will want to have a party when you have to be at work at 6AM. Gangs are everywhere and there is zero parental control. They filled in the pools after a kid got shocked and killed because they didn't want to bother with maintenance. Other people have been killed here, one right in front of my apartment. Cars get scratches and dings because nobody cares about your vehicle. I've changed my view of humanity as a result of living here. If you come here, don't come alone, day or night.”
— 1111 Blalock Rd · Houston“My truck got broken into several times and the office staff didn't do anything about it. The parking is horrable and there always kids out in the parking making noise and messing with the cars. Maintance SUCKS they do not know what the hell they are doing they always make it worse. It gets flooded with a little rain.”
— 1111 Blalock Rd · Houston“Im speaking from the truth not some far away galaxy like others. AS A WELCOME HOME YOUR CAR WILL GET BROKEN INTO, NOT GATED AREA..WALK TO THE DUMPSTER AT YOUR OWN RISK. First when i moved to the 1 bedroom townhome it was ok for the price except there was thousands of tenants still living there (ROACHES) they where falling off the door when I first opened it. The unit was very old and outdated, they had a classic stove from the 70s. The (ROACHES) where nesting on the carpet and corners of the wall and shelfs. I quess some folks are ok living with them....NOT ME!!! I then asked the manager to move me to another unit..and did so by my request. I now have a 2 bed-room and 1 parking spot,..Parking is like a mile away........i have to take off my office shoes and put on my jogging shoes,.(Great for on the RUN!!_-_-) Now its been 3 1/2 years and counting since everything has went to hell due to new management. They are now accepting anyone in the complexs. One of my co-worker also lives there by some load neighbors in apt#314 and that they have 2 kids and 3 big dogs, and 2 adults living in a 400sq 1 bedroom effenciency (WOW) that a total 7 occupants living in there. Looks like this place is getting more ------ then ever?? I TRIED TO LIST A PHOTO OF THIS PLACE BUT THIS SITE MUST WORK IN FAVOR FOR THE APARTMENTS WELL I FIND AWAY HERE YOU GO COPY AND PASTE TO WEB BROWSER KIDS NEW PLAY AREA http://www.joe-ks.com/archives_may2002/GhettoBall.jpg APARTMENT http://www.blalockwoods.com/gfx/fbw5.jpg WHILE MY FRIEND WAS A SLEEP http://www.ralphmag.org/CS/roach-in-ear279x278.gif SNACK TIME http://www.ent.uga.edu/pubs/imageshomeipm/roach_sandwich_ds.jpg PARKING SPACE http://hometown.aol.com/thewordrbs/images/bad-parking.jpg”
— 1111 Blalock Rd · Houston“This is a horrible place to live. Although it looks relatively cheaper than surrounding apts, the overall cost does accumulate. For instance, to install an internet, yes, just an internet, cost over $200 in two months. Most apts offer free internet, but this apt adds ridiculous charges, not only on internet, but on everything else. I am moving as soon as possible. It's much better living in a slightly more expensive--i.e. Memorial Heights--where there is free internet, than to live in this place and go through all the hassle. This place is SO not worth it.”
— 1111 Blalock Rd · Houston“I have lived here for 18 months and have enjoyed it. Leaving a roommate behind and need to move someplace I can afford alone. Helpful neighbors, know their names, quick on maintenance issues. Parking can be tight and noisy neighbor moved away.”
— 1111 Blalock Rd · Houston“I don't like everything about this place, but I picked it cause the size of the apartments. People who complain about everything, like that lady next door, need to spend somemore $$$$ and move to a new complex where everything is perfect for the first year!”
