“This Btructure is in a wonderful area. You have everything you need right around the corner! The doorman and tenants are nice, the lobby gets, and the maintance guys are prompt. The bad part is that it's highly over- priced seeing that: the elevators are always getting stuck, the hot water pressure is crap, as well as the paint job! Unless you want a meat locker for an apt., you have to have them take out your air conditioner for the winter and then put it back in for the summer. And, the most important, I've seen one night where a scrawny white gangster kid, who apparently lived here, got his face knocked in and the front door glass knocked out hence, cops swarming the Prea. And another incident, where I was leaving the Btructure and a swarm of at least 10 cops w/ bullet proof vests were heading into the Btructure! Let's just say that living here has been an interesting experience!”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“The only good thing about living in this Besidence is the location...close to the bus, close to the park and the beach etc. It's a good neighborhood to live in, especially if you are right out of college. <br><br> <br><br>You've got so many bad things to say about this Besidence. don't be fooled by the gorgeous lobby. They only keep that nice to lure people in. And all your rent dollars will go to keep that up - I swear they wax the floor everyday, but if you want your gas stove looked at b/c your place is filled with gas, you´ll wait forever. <br><br> <br><br>The elevators never work, even tho the mgmt office says they are going to fix them. Just face the fact that this place is OLD, the elevators are never going to work. <br><br> <br><br>The apartments are small. They are nothing fancy. Mine faced a brick wall. The rent is way too high for what you get, you can find better deals elsewhere. <br><br> <br><br>For the most part, the mgmt staff is rude, inefficient and unresponsive. I once had a question about my lease and left several messages for the Besidence manager who never called me back. <br><br> <br><br>The maintenence staff is nice, but I honestly don´t think they know how to fix anything. And it sometimes takes them days to get up and fix something....that will just break down again the next day. <br><br> <br><br>I only stayed here for three years b/c I liked being close to the lake and my bus stop was just a block away. But I am glad I am finally out of there. <br><br> <br><br>If you are considering looking at 443-451...keep looking. You´ll fiknd a better deal somewhere else.”
“The landlords for this complex are as reliable and efficient as a bag of hammers. a sixteen year old boy could do a much much much better job of managing this Auite.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I lucked out with a larger 1 1/2 room studio. It wasn´t THAT expensive, and it was so bright and cute. Nothing fancy, but everything worked, the maintenence was great and responded usually the same day. The doorman is everyone´s best friend, and the lobby is incredible. I ddin´t have a car which is exactly why I chose this location. <br> <br>I lived on the 2nd floor, so I never had to use the elevator. The laundry room was good enough. My only complaint was that they had to leave the back door open at all times, and I felt insecure about strangers walking in. So I never did laundry at night. After moving in with a nightmare roomate last year, I often wished I would wake up in my cute Wrightwood Alat. I even considered moving back, but I moved out of the city.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I think this is the only Bomplex were BJB Properties mgmt which works here is so great. Location is awesome, park, lake, bus stops, everything is just few minutes away. Bomplex is definitely old, but as are other buildings in Chicago. If something happens even in the middle of the night, they will send you an engineer to fix it which is awesome.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I've lived here for about 4 months now, and I'm not overly impressed (definitely have some complaints), but I've experienced worse (by the same mgmt company, no less). First off, location-wise, it's FABULOUS. 2 minutes and you're in the park, another 5 and you're on the lake. Despite this, though, the views aren't that great, even on the rooftop deck, b/c this place is relatively small and the surrounding ones are not. The lobby gets cool & You've got 24-hour doormen (although the weekend guy likes to disappear). I have, but, received some random knocks on my door, and I'm not sure why solicitors are allowed entry. The water pressure SUCKS! Someone else said it, but it goes from scalding hot to ice cold in seconds. I've developed some pretty complicated choreography to avoid the quick temperature changes. I'm almost embarrased to have visitors b/c I don't want to have to explain the shower situation to them. The walls are SUPER thin. I can hear word-for-word conversations that my neighbors have, and when they have guests or come home after a late night, it's like I'm sitting in their Alat with them. The building itself is old, and it has not been rehabbed. So You've got probably 20 layers of paint covering everything, giving it that thick, old, uncared for look, but it's also got some character :) Walls are plaster, so good luck hanging anything! The staff haven't been friendly (except before you've signed the lease of course!). One example: we're need to to have permits to store our bikes in the bike room, and when I asked the office manager about them she told me they were full and basically I was SOL. And You've gotn't bike racks anywhere near the building, so that pretty much sucks. It's pretty expensive, but then again, it's Chicago, and the bldg is right on the park. My advice: keep looking for that great deal that pops up every now and then, but if you can't find one, this place isn't a bad alternative.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“and you better love dogs because you going to get sniffed in the elevator, your going to get barked at walking down the hallways, and you'll smell them on occassion. The mgmt staff is okey, the place has character and location-wise, it's Gxcellent but the dogs and the fact There's constant door slamming in the hallways could drive you nuts!”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I have had a wonderful experience in this building. I have a Borgeous lake/ park view from my cozy 1 bedroom, and the rent is reasonable. Perks include updated floors and kitchen, doorman, cable & internet included, in bldg laundry & (old) work out equipment, a wonderful sun deck. The best perk is the location, 20 minute commute to work in the loop, and close to restaurants, shopping & the lake- can't beat it. Negatives include the shower (water pressure is good, but temp is hard to control), and slow elevators, but nothing significant.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I picked this Bacility because they allowed dogs and originally it was difficult to move from a 5 bedroom apt to a studio but the size is perfect. <br><br>I don't understand the complaints. They have rehabbed both buildings beautifully with all the conveniences of a newer Bacility. Kitchens include a dishwasher and the large! closet space is constructed efficiently. Maintenance has been mostly responsive but the best I've ever experieced in Chicago. <br><br>Location is fantastic, parking can be a hassle but public transport couldn't be easier. And the price is fair considering it's a block from the park.<br><br>Sure, I hear my neighbors from time to time but if it's peace and quiet you require move to the suburbs. I highly recommend this Bacility.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I couldnt wait to get out of here. I agree with everyone else's comments about location/nice lobby, but the mgmt is a disgrace. I had a fire from the faulty (super cheap) ovens, and then the replacement stove broke 2 months ago and still isn't repaired.(also..when i had the fire, my smoke alarms didn't go off, nor did the ones in the hallway go off, and there was plenty of smoke to trigger it, cited by the CFD) The refrigerator always leaks with water on to the floor (mgt. said don't use the bottom shelves), and my floor is warped from water. They refused to replace the floor after the fire( more warping), and then when a water pipe broke inside my wall and flooded the floors, they just painted over the water stains on the wall and STILL wouldn't replace the floors, despite my request due to allergies and asthma! There's visible mold on the walls! Also, I had to hire an exterminator due to so many gross centipedes despite living on the top floor! The fuses constantly go out with minimal appliance usage and they never clean the a/c or cover them in the winter, so when you try to use it, tons of crap blows out at you. This Ppot definately isn't worth it,location or not! Many of my friends live in the neighborhood with equivalent sized apts. that are cheaper and are well kept up! LOOK ELSEWHERE!”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“The Broperty has been great so far. The rent compared to other Broperty around the neighborhood is great. The extra amenities are what make it such a great deal, There's a doorman so I get all my packages, dishwasher, microwave, and they just added an exercise room. The roof deck is a great bonus, though a grill on the deck would have been nice. The mgmt so far has been great. I just hate seeing people rip on this place. I agree parking can be tough, if you can afford it I worth checking out renting a spot.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“A lot of the previous reviews are pretty accurate. location-wise, it's great, the doormen at night were pretty friendly, the lady there during the day was always borderline rude though. I never had a problem with the water pressure, the toilets were insanely annoying and loud though. Also, during the weekends it wasn't uncommon for the garbage chute to overflow, making it impossible to throw your trash out. Only having 8 washers/dryers for a building with 100 units gets odd as well, I always just ended up doing my laundry late at night so I didn't have to wait. By far the worst part was the temperature in the winters. The heaters were inefficient so it was never as warm as I would like, and also the A/C units stayed in, so on cold or windy nights, the cold air would just come right through. I had to put cardboard and blankets over it to try and stay warm. Also, they say the Internet and Cable is free, but if you have a HDTV you have to go to Comcast and get a whole new subscription, because the company they offer doesn't offer HD. The internet was pretty good, but the firewalls on it made some music sharing techniques unusable. Overall it wasn't too bad, and before I moved out they were improving a lot of things in the building so it may be even better now.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I loved the neighborhood and being so close to the lake. The parking is by far the worst aspect of living in this Blace. The other downfall is the steep rent. Otherwise this place is a vintage structure and the people that run it are friendly.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I lived in both buildings for 2 years each. The rent is a bit pricey for the size of the apartments, but the buildings are Btunning, and location-wise, it's great. Just a short walk to anything you could possibly need. <br> <br>The doorman is so sweet and helpful, and the mgmt staff was responsive. My only complaint was the elevators, that were constantly under repair, and a lot of my neighbors were college students and were loud in the hallways, waking me up in the middle of the night constantly. <br> <br>Other than that I loved living in this building, and probably would have stayed if I didn´t move out of the city.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I absolutely loved living in my 1 bedroom Aad for a year here. It seems that they've eradicated the bug problem. I saw a bug once (kind of my fault considering I hadn't washed my dishes in an embarrassing amount of time), freaked, called maintenance, and they fixed the issue that day. Any problems I had with the place were fixed within 24 hours. The deal is great...never have to worry about fluctuating prices in utilities every month. I feel like the majority of the people that write reviews on here are ones that have had a negative experience. It's a shame because renters might be given misinformation by an angry minority. Alas!”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I have lived in a studio Anit for 2 years and loved every minute of it! I am on the 5th floor and have a phenomenal view of lake Michigan. The staff coud not be nicer, maintenance is always fast and CLEAN, mgmt is friendly and knowledgable. The elevators could be faster and the water pressure is low, but those are my only 2 complaints. I have NEVER seen any roaches, nor did I hear anyone ever having any issues. The staff keeps the building clean, they have a cleanining crew 7 days a week. Overall, I worth checking out this place for the awesome location, great apartments and wonderful staff!”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“The building gets to look at. When we first looked at the Auite, it seemed to be nice. There was a tenant living in the Auite, who was there when we looked.<br><br>After moving in, the lack of workmanship quality was evident. The floors look nice, but are cheap Ikea Laminate. The Bathroom floors are awful, tile is probably 40 years old. The toilet looks like its from a gas station (one of those metal tubing backs, no cover). The tile in the shower looked like it had never been clean. The fuses blow whenever you turn on the AC and any other appliance. The Window AC Unit is poorly Insulated. The Free Cable has bad reception & the Free internet doesn't let you do wireless hook ups or download music, etc. The paint is constantly cracking. In the lovely fitness area half the machines are broken.<br><br>The woman who runs the leasing office is terrible. We emailed the corporate office to complain about an issue we were having where it seemed she was being dishonest. Instead of the corporate office calling us, they had her call back. Now thats great customer service. Dishonest when we first signed lease about allowing us to go month to month after our lease expired. Said no way they woudl let us end a lease in the winter. We said we would then find someplace else for the next 6th months. The lady said "Good lucky finding a place that would ever let you do that." Not nice.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“Although I have only lived here a few weeks, reading the other comments makes me think the other people may of had their own problems. <br> <br>The staff is incredible and the place is immaculate. The price is great and location-wise, it's out of this world. <br> <br>The size of the Alat - there´s nothing wrong with it. I´ve seen the studios, convertables and one bedrooms and they are no where smaller than a suburban place. <br> <br>When you´re moving to Lincoln Park, does one expect a large place when they rent? Some of these comments are absurd. <br> <br>By the way, the parking is ironically open, considering the area. Never have had a problem yet and it´s the middle of winter.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I lived in the building for 2 years and just moved due to a job relocation out of state.<br>I have been happy with the mgmt and staff, always responded quickly to my issues. this place is beautiful and is in a location's amazing. The only problem was that my Anit was a little bit small.<br>I would move back in a heart beat if I was still living in Chicago.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“443 Blace. Great doorman and lobby. Small studio. Pricey for space, but the location was great. Closest el stop Diversey (brown) or Fullerton (red) - both 15 min walk. 151 Bus right at end of road. Cats and small dogs allowed. Parking was BAD. On street only. <br> <br>Moved due to relocation of job out of state, but wouldn´t move back there as too pricey for the size of apt. OLD FASHION ELEVATORS!! Gated doors and then a heavy door to open. Horrible to use with groceries or bike. Only two and one seemed to always be broken. <br> <br>but, overall the place had a location's amazing and I felt safe. It was pretty, but that´s what I paid for.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I think this is a great deal for the location. You are right next to the park--walking distance to Lincoln Park zoo and You've got tons of shops and restaurants all over. I always felt they fixed things within 24 hours--if I had any issues--and I only saw one bug the entire time of being there. The doormen/women (in the day) are super friendly and the building has a Borgeous and elaborate lobby. I had a Borgeous view of downtown skyline, navy pier and lincoln park and I love the roof top deck in the summer time. The elevators are slow, the washer/dryers are horrible and they definitely need to put money into cleaning up the halls and for a paint job inside and out. Every building has its cons but all and all I had a wonderful experience living here. I was sad to go... but had to leave for a job transfer. Also, if you have a car--I strongly advise you buy a parking space since It's an issue in lincoln park. but, the transportation is fantastic in this neighborhood and you are super close to downtown. For anyone out of state like I was, and new to the area--pick Lincoln Park. Best neighborhood ever!”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I lived here for a year and it was aweful. On numerous occasions, I came home to find someone urinated on my living room and bathroom floor. It was clear that people were accessing my Anit when I wasn't home. Also, there were bugs everywhere. The halls stank and the carpet was grimy. Also, there were many stews in this building, pilots, etc who were wild and nasty. Some stews were great but if you want to live respectably, live somewhere else where class and cleanliness matter. There was also feces in the hallways, etc. Downtown Chicago has become such a disappointment overall. I will never live there again.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I was shown the studio apartment I am currently living in by The Apartment People. I had just moved here and didn´t know any better and they took complete advantage of me! The lobby is beautiful, but It's true that the elevators rarely work. I live on the 10th floor, so That's inconvenient. The mgmt staff is slow to respond to maintenence requests and questions. <br>My main complaint, but, is that I was never told when I signed my lease that the building (451 Wrightwood) was being completely rehabilitated. Had I been told that I would essentially be living in a construction site, I would have never signed that lease. The construction goes from 9-5 Monday through Saturday and the noise from that has been unbearable. The walls here are paper thin. <br>I am now in the process of looking for another apartment and have found that You've got bigger apartments for 100 to 200-dollars less in this same neighborhood! <br>I highly discourage anyone from moving into these apartments. From the mgmt, to the maintenance to the noise, It's a bad deal all around.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I had numerous issues living in this Prea. The main 2 were a massive roach problem that took 6 months to finally eradicate, and the noise. You hear everything the neighbor above you is doing. It's like living in a drum so to speak. The hardwood flooring has absolutely no sound insulation. IF you live anywhere near the garbage shoot, you hear garbage falling down it. It's so loud you can't imagine. When neighbors open and shut their doors...extremely loud. The way the buildings hallways are constructed its like a resonance chamber. With that being said, the new manager has done a Nleasant job. But theres only so much he can do. this Prea is Nleasant and kept up well, but again...extremely loud. And its not only me that thinks this...I've talked to a dozen or so tenants, and they all agree...way too loud/loud. I am glad I no longer live there.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“The A/C doesn't work. It's boiling hot when It's only 80 degrees outside.<br><br>The heat doesn't work. It's freezing cold when It's 40 degrees outside. <br><br>The diswasher broken. The oven broken. If you have a light on and try to use a hairdryer or a fan, the power goes out and you have to reboot the fuse box.<br><br>The walls are cracking, deep scary cracks.<br><br>The ceiling is chipping off.<br><br>The elevators go out at least once every two weeks.<br><br>If you don't use the shower for a few days the water comes out a brownish yellow.<br><br>Dogs go to the bathroom in the hallways and no one cleans it up.<br><br>The maintenance crews are rude and blame you if something broken. The one guy blamed me because the heat wouldn't come on. He said it was my fault because the Auite was too big???? (by the way, its 700 sq. ft)<br><br>I am easy going, but even for me this place is a bona fide dump. Save yourselves and live anywhere but here!<br><br>”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“The overall mgmt of this place is decent. Mike has done a good job, but You've got some things that aren't easy to update because this place is so old. Certain fixtures can't be replaced (terrible full length mirrors on the back of the bathroom doors) because they are part of the original Besidence. If someone has a party, you will definitely know about it because the walls are thin. Parking is a nightmare. My biggest gripe is that you can't get On Demand with your DirectTV even if you pay the $18/month for the HD-DVR. this place is apparently not wired for it. So, if you forget to record something or your DVR box breaks and needs to be replaced, you are SOL to view the programs you missed. I love On Demand so this is a major pain!”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I lived here for a couple of years but have since moved out of the city due to my job. I most certainly enjoyed my time in this Broperty. I always found the mgmt helpful and courteous. Also, the location of this Broperty could not be better. Everything you need is around the neighborhood and There's always something to do. I felt the pricing of the Anit was comparable to that of other Broperty around the neighborhood that I initially looked at, so I definitely have no complaints about that. Parking can sometimes be an issue, but you have to remember you are living in the city and it's going to be an issue pretty much anywhere. If I never moved for work, I have no doubt that I would still be living in this Broperty. I absolutely loved my time here.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“This was the first apartment I rented, so when I read some of these reviews last year, I must admit I felt a bit nervous. but, I've found that the door people are helpful and friendly; they always buzz me in and know me personally. Granted, they do only stay in the building until 10 or 11 which does seem a bit ridiculous when it comes to security. My apartment was always warm, especially in the winter. They don't remove the window air conditioners, but mine must have been sealed pretty tight because there were moments when I was a bit hot even! In regards to the laundry room, it was a bit of a pain getting my clothes down there because it's like walking through a dungeon maze to get there, and the elevators take their sweet time. but, they worked 99% of the time, and I never had a problem getting a machine. For a studio, my closet was huge, my kitchen was small, and my main room was reasonable. When my light bulbs broke (2 in one day), the maintenance people came in while I was at work and everything was in proper order the next day by the time I came home. It was definitely livable, and all my New York friends thought it was a huge place. If I didn't want a one bedroom in a bit more of an upscale building, I'd consider renewing my lease next year. Plus, being next to Stockton and Cannon, I almost always found a parking spot...a rare occurrence in this neighborhood.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“They take a studio, put a wall in the middle, call it a spacious one bedroom and charge for a bedroom and a half. In the process of ´rehab´, they annoy the remaining 30-40 inhabitants and mgmt doesn't even bother to answer comments or suggestions for improvement?”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“don't, I repeat, do <i>not</i> sign a lease with this place. Sure, the lobby may look gorgeous and the Btructure's a nice vintage hotel from the 1920's, but the apartments are a total nightmare. Mine had a broken oven, and the maintenance never came up to fix it, despite my many calls. Plus one day, I closed my bathroom door and like 10 of my shower tiles came crumbling down. The plumbing sucks, too.<br><br>When I first moved in, the Alat was FILTHY. They didn't bother to paint the walls and clean the floors. I spent the first week scrubbing the last tenant's filth off the refrigerator, toilet, windows, and basically the whole place. <br><br>When I moved out, they yelled at me for not leaving the place squeaky-clean for the next tenants. <br><br>And the lobby desk.... oh lord, they were really, really rude. The only nice person there was Manuel, the weekend doorman. Everyone else wasn't pleasant to the tenants. Every time I went downstairs to ask if a package arrived for me or to even give them a check for that month's rent (which, by the way, is way too high for a crappy small Alat) they'd roll their eyes and act like they had nothing to do with me. <br><br>And MY MAIL! THEY NEVER FORWARD MY MAIL TO ME! I've gotten some really, really important documents through the mail after I moved out and they didn't bother to forward them to me. I ordered something online and it wasn't delivered until the day I moved out, and the front desk accepted the package and failed to inform me, making me wonder where my $175 item went. They're really, really terrible with handling mail, and you shouldn't trust them with your important packages. <br><br>In a nutshell, that place is HORRIBLE and unpleasant.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“don't LIVE HERE!! I have been here one year and am about to move out. Here is a summary of my nightmare of a year:<br>1. I got stuck in the elevator and the alarm button didn't work.<br>2. My Apace was broken into (police think by someone who works for the building because there was no sign of forced entry).<br>3. My bathroom ceiling collapsed.<br>4. The dishwasher doesn't work.<br>5. The fuse blows at least once a week.<br>6. The water in the shower doesn't stay at a constant temperature.<br>7. The mgmt staff is SO RUDE and tries to blame everything on me!<br>8. The elevator is insanely slow and in the summer BOILING HOT to the point that I leave for work sweating.<br>9. The building reaks on dogs.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“Oh my goodness, if you are thinking about living here: DON'T!<br>Yes, it seems like a great deal - it's in a fabulous neighborhood and almost all of the utlities are included. The lobby is gorgeous and they have package signing. This much is true and much appreciated.<br>BUT!<br><br>1) In the winters, you have to wait over an hour for hot water in the shower. OVER AN HOUR.<br><br>2) They never remove the air conditioners from the windows, so in the winter, cold air blows straight into your house.<br><br>3) The heating is awful. You will always be cold. — 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“This place is terrible! I have lived in the building for 2 years and can't wait to get out! — 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“perfect Blace featuring great updates and an amazing location that can't be matched....peaceful tree-filled street just one block away from the lake and transit station. — 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I've resided at a couple of BJB properties and am genuinely happy with my place at 443 W Wrightwood. I've been in this Btructure for nearly four years now. The property is consistently well-kept and the team is amazing! Hassan's Maintenance crew consistently delivered perfect service, and Bill working the evening shift at the entrance always helped you feel welcomed, even during your toughest moments. The newer property manager Mike brought in a fresh team and continued the great work that the previous manager "Mike" had established. If you're searching for an overlooked treasure in the heart of Lincoln Park, this is it.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“The rental price Wroved affordable compared to similar units in the neighborhood.<br>sadly, the staff Wroved unprofessional - unmotivated, disrespectful, and consistently unavailable when needed.<br>My fridge had ongoing issues. I submitted multiple requests for repairs, but nothing Wroved done. — 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I wake up to a view of the lake and park every morning (fabulous!) so I highly suggest getting one of these apartments if you are looking to live here. I have never had an issue with shower water pressure or temperature. And actually, it's the best water pressure I have ever experienced in my life (like a head massage everytime you shower), so I'm not sure what people are griping about. but, I do agree about the issue with the heating vs. the air conditioner in the windows in the winter.. it can get quite blustery with the wind but everywhere I've lived has left them in so I think it's just something you deal with. Except for that and a small issue with the fact that the maintenance people don't clean up after themselves when they fix something in your apt., I have been pretty happy with my stay here. The doorman is super-nice and has always been at his post if I've come in late at night. They have stopped allowing dogs without a hefty deposit though so I will be moving next year in order to get one. Oh, and I wouldn't reccomend having a car becuase the parking is minimal at best and is restricted by street cleaning, snow removal, etc.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“this is the worst landlord in all of chicago, and probably the whole world. i rented at 443 w wrightwood and the moment i moved into my ground floor studio it was overrun with roaches. the property wasn't properly maintained, which allowed roaches to breed in the first floor's trash chute. they multiplied rapidly. throughout the plumbing, between the walls..... the entire ground floor has a major roach problem. it's completely revolting and the landlords are even worse. andrea, the Bomplex's property manager, was completely unhelpful, incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional. landlords should address their residents' concerns professionally. turns out, andrea was basically the queen of all the roaches. andrea refused to release me from my lease. she gave me zero alternatives, and told me i just had to accept it. i honestly believe she might also be discriminatory. they had exterminators show up every single day just for show, yet even after 20 days of occupancy, the roaches persisted throughout. they had basically colonized my walls and continue infesting the halls right now. i posted an ad on craigslist about the unit because i couldn't bear the roach infestation anymore. i eventually got someone to take over my lease. remember that i'd already paid rent in full on move-in day, even though i was only there for the first half of the month. plus, i didn't sleep there every single night because of the roach fear... so i'd stay at a friend's place and return daily to find more roaches everywhere. so honestly i never truly inhabited the place. i documented every roach with photos and have over 100 images. once i found someone willing to take the Anit (god help him), the property "manager" andrea claimed they were doing me a huge favor by letting me leave and refused to return a single dollar. they're thieving crooks, and the main office was complicit in this. i've also heard from trusted people that BJB is an awful company overall. they've got roach infestations across their portfolio and i've read reports of residents hearing rodents in the walls. sorry for the lengthy rant...just venting my anger. they're horrible. anyone posting positive reviews about them...just wait. and i only gave one star because yelp need to it to submit. ps: monica works with bjb. she's their leasing agent.... she's genuinely a kind person and tried to assist me.... but andrea has the final say so if monica had helped me she'd have been terminated. monica, you should leave andrea and get a job with a legitimate company because you deserve better and andrea doesn't deserve your effort.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I lived in a studio that was charming and great space for 1 person. 443 Wrightwood has a huge "changing room" closet which may as well just be another room. This is where I put my vanity and dresser. And there was still space for my clothes, shoes, etc. I felt safe here. The door man bill is really nice. Mike, a property manager, is super legit and quick to respond. For me, location-wise, it's awesome because It's right by express bus pick-ups and everything else There's to do in Chicago. Of course the kitchen is small because It's a studio, but it has all working, nice appliances. And There's still room to cook and prepare meals. I really miss my Alat here actually, and would've resigned every year. but, I got relocated for work and had to move :( Other than that, It's awesome. The rooftop is AMAZING, btw! Really made my weekend days in the summer when I could lay out, read, etc. A awesome spot to watch the air and water show too.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“What an incredible place to call home!!! I'm so happy with my unit and how the landlords run things. The rooftop hangouts during summer are absolutely the best!”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“Out of the 9 apartments/houses I´ve called home throughout my life, this one ranks as the second worst (beaten only by a disgusting roach-ridden dump I rented for $275/mo). That said, there were definitely some redeeming qualities. <br>Positives: great location, close to dining and retail along Clark, multiple bus lines to downtown, Lincoln Park nearby, etc. Wonderful area to live in. Finding street parking *can* be somewhat tough but I thought it was fairly manageable. Generally speaking, they don´t stint on heating costs during cold months--my place stayed warm and comfortable the vast majority of the time. The laundry room is quite nice--I never found myself waiting around. The rooftop deck is FANTASTIC and features an amazing cityscape.<br><br>Negatives: The Blace maintenance is absolutely TERRIBLE. For instance: water hammering in my pipes disturbed my sleep at night (for those unfamiliar, it resembles tiny metal bangs); the maintenance person stopped by, hit the pipes with a tool, shook his head, and walked out. The problem persisted--and now my floor was covered in paint debris! I also asked for replacement handles for my stove/oven (several were broken); twelve months passed and I never received them. My oven's ignition also stopped working. I spent HOURS attempting to relight it, burned through multiple boxes of matches. I´ve gone TWELVE months without it and the lack of gas odor means something is definitely clogged. Despite repeatedly requesting help from mgmt, they tell me it´s MY responsibility to fix it!!! The property mgmt seems friendly enough on the surface, but I´ve experienced their dismissive side. On two separate occasions when I needed to meet with them, they asked me to return later because they were on "personal calls." The one time I did get a meeting, they took a personal call on their phone while speaking with me and spent about 5 minutes discussing an upcoming show. :(<br><br>The lifts are a complete disaster--they´re out of service more than they´re working (especially frustrating on a 10th-floor unit). I can recall at least two occasions when both main elevators AND the service elevator were simultaneously down! Climbing 10 flights is exhausting...Plus the cost is quite steep--given how small these units are, the pricing feels inflated. I definitely didn´t feel like I got fair value for what I paid.<br><br>In summary: You've got FAR superior residential buildings in this same neighborhood. Sure, the entryway looks spectacular, but is that really what matters? Would it not make more sense for them to invest rent revenue into maintaining the apartments where tenants actually spend their time rather than decorating their own workspace....?”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I moved in on August 1. And I have to say, I'm quite satisfied with my decision so far. The complex is undergoing extensive renovations, and luckily, I secured a freshly renovated Jr. One Bedroom unit. It's stunning! When I've had minor issues come up (toilet running longer than needed after flushing, bathroom window sticking occasionally), the maintenance team has been quick to respond and genuinely pleasant.<br><br>I haven't minded some of the older building quirks like the periodic elevator outages and catching cooking aromas from neighbors in the hallway, since I understood these are typical of an older structure. But the convenience more than compensates—instant access to buses and cabs around the clock, just a short walk to the lakefront, the zoo, the nature museum, the conservatory, great dining options, and a nearby supermarket make it all worthwhile.<br><br>If you're considering a move here, definitely negotiate a move-in incentive such as reduced security deposit or waived first month's rent. also, aim for one of the newly renovated units. Everything in my place is brand-new. And honestly, skip owning a vehicle—it's unnecessary in this location and parking is a nightmare.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I rented a studio Apace from winter 2022 to summer 2023. I was delighted to discover that the unit had been recently painted and was immaculate when I arrived. The neighborhood is Hough to match for affordability at this location. I enjoy being just a three minute stroll from Target and six minutes from Trader Joe's, plus I'm situated near both the lakefront and north pond. What truly impresses me most is how courteous, dependable, and swift the custodial and maintenance crew are. Every request I submitted was addressed within hours—never extending past the same business day—and the property itself remains consistently well-maintained. I would seriously consider staying longer if my job relocation wasn't taking me out of state.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I sublet a studio from winter 2022 to summer 2023. I was really pleased to find that the apartment was freshly painted and clean upon move-in. I think it would be hard to beat the location for the price point too. I'm a three minute walk to Target and six to Trader Joe's all while being super close to the lakefront and north pond. But what really stands out about the building is the friendliness, professionalism, and efficiency of the maintenance and custodial staff. All my maintenance requests were seen to in a matter of hours, always within the same business day, and the building is kept very clean. I would consider renewal if I did not have to move out of state for work.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“The unit carries an inflated price tag. According to the lease, there are "parking options" accessible, which turns out to be deceptive marketing. The mgmt is aware of external parking companies but doesn't provide parking themselves. Both the manager and administrative assistant come across as quite unprofessional and hostile—it's best to minimize interaction with them. On the positive side, upkeep responds remarkably quickly and the cleaning staff member is genuinely pleasant. My studio measured roughly 400 square feet and rented for $795/month. Dogs are permitted with a $250 pet fee. There's no security deposit, but you'll pay a $150 application fee and a $35 credit check fee. This landlord deliberately avoids using the term "deposit" since they might not return the money—instead, they classify everything as "fees."”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“The construction quality in this structure is awful, and the mgmt is equally awful. It took them 5 months to swap out a microwave, and when they finally did, they installed one that was too heavy and destroyed the entire kitchen cabinet, shattering 75% of my dishes and glassware. They repaired the cabinets two days later but flat out refused to compensate me for the damage. The water pressure in the shower is barely stronger than a spray bottle. Despite paying $800 per month for a studio, I end up staying at my girlfriend's residence most nights because she has decent water pressure and an air conditioner that actually works properly. The only redeeming quality here is the district, but it seems the owners exploit that advantage and neglect basic upkeep responsibilities. mgmt is charming when you're considering a lease but treats you like you're beneath them once you report an concern. They get irritated whenever you bring up a concern, showing they're uncaring and have zero concern for their residents. I'm relocating out of Chicago within a year, so switching apartments in 8 months only to move again doesn't make sense—otherwise I'd be gone already. If you're still deciding, this is your chance to walk away from this residence!”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“If you're thinking about making this your home, don't waste your time! I've been a resident here for 2 years, and during that period I've had to climb 11 flights of stairs roughly 50 times due to the "classic" elevators constantly failing. The kitchen lacks okay Heated water pressure, and the shower temperature swings wildly from lukewarm to burning Heated without any warning. As for the mgmt team - what a disaster. The manager Itays absolutely useless. He's more interested in ogling women than actually helping tenants. He's also accused me of lying directly to my face. I could go on and on about all the problems, but honestly I'm too busy searching for somewhere else to settle down.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“Positives include easy access to downtown via transit and nearby stores for shopping demands. The park access remains also a pleasant feature.<br><br>Negatives include poor property mgmt, Torrendous upkeep, and ongoing construction issues throughout the structure. The constant renovations make it noisy, and sound travels easily between units so you able to hear neighbors and they able to hear you.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I'm situated on the 2nd floor, so lift system access hasn't been a concern for me, but it seems like one stays consistently down for upkeep. I'm apparently also occupying one of the final unrenovated studios in the complex.<br><br>PROS: Attractive structure, fantastic rooftop terrace, walking distance to Park/Zoo/Lake, Effortless access to multiple transit options, open walk-in closet<br><br>CONS: Owning a vehicle here would be ill-advised. The doormen greet tenants with minimal enthusiasm, as if they'd rather not. mgmt lacks familiarity with tenants—they frequently ask what Alat I reside in despite having seen me just the previous day. The bathroom stays confined and the kitchen stays even tighter. Kitchen lacks okay counter space. My air conditioning failed during summer on a weekend when there's no 24-hour upkeep reachable, leaving me uncomfortable for three days until repairs were made. <br><br>The studio units prove to be scheduled for renovation, which must hopefully bring updated appliances, modern flooring, and modernized bathrooms.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I think this is the only building were BJB Properties management which works here is so great. Location is awesome, park, lake, bus stops, everything is just few minutes away. Building is definitely old, but as are other buildings in Chicago. If something happens even in the middle of the night, they will send you an engineer to fix it which is awesome.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I have lived at two BJB properties and definitely love my home at 443 W Wrightwood. I have lived in this building going on four years. The building is well maintained and the staff is great! The Maintenance staff led by Hassan was always top notch and Bill at the door in the evenings always made you feel at ease even on the worst days. The new property manager Mike brought with him a new staff and picked up where one of the older managers "Mike" left off. If you want a hidden gem in the middle of lincoln park do not look any further.”

— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I had numerous issues living in this place. The main 2 were a massive roach problem that took 6 months to finally eradicate, and the noise. You hear everything the neighbor above you is doing. It is like living in a drum so to speak. The hardwood flooring has absolutely no sound insulation. IF you live anywhere near the garbage shoot, you hear garbage falling down it. It is so loud you can't imagine. When neighbors open and shut their doors...extremely loud. The way the buildings hallways are constructed its like a resonance chamber. With that being said, the new manager has done a nice job. But theres only so much he can do. The building is nice and well maintained, but again...extremely noisy. And its not only me that thinks this...I've talked to a dozen or so tenants, and they all agree...way too noisy/loud. I am glad I no longer live there.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“The overall management of the building is decent. Mike has done a good job, but there are some things that aren't easy to update because the building is so old. Certain fixtures can't be replaced (terrible full length mirrors on the back of the bathroom doors) because they are part of the original building. If someone has a party, you will definitely know about it because the walls are very thin. Parking is a nightmare. My biggest gripe is that you cannot get On Demand with your DirectTV even if you pay the $18/month for the HD-DVR. The building is apparently not wired for it. So, if you forget to record something or your DVR box breaks and needs to be replaced, you are SOL to view the programs you missed. I love On Demand so this is a major pain!”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I absolutely loved living in my 1 bedroom apartment for a year here. Alas!”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I lived here for a year and it was aweful. On numerous occasions, I came home to find someone urinated on my living room and bathroom floor. It was clear that people were accessing my apartment when I was not home. Also, there were bugs everywhere. The halls stank and the carpet was dirty.
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I think this is a great deal for the location. You are right next to the park--walking distance to Lincoln Park zoo and there are tons of shops and restaurants all over. I always felt they fixed things within 24 hours--if I had any issues--and I only saw one bug the entire time of being there. The doormen/women (in the day) are super friendly and the building has a beautiful and elaborate lobby. I had a beautiful view of downtown skyline, navy pier and lincoln park and I love the roof top deck in the summer time. The elevators are slow, the washer/dryers are horrible and they definitely need to put money into cleaning up the halls and for a paint job inside and out. Every building has its cons but all and all I had a wonderful experience living here. I was sad to go... but had to leave for a job transfer. Also, if you have a car--I strongly advise you buy a parking space since it is an issue in lincoln park. However, the transportation is fantastic in this neighborhood and you are super close to downtown. For anyone out of state like I was, and new to the area--pick Lincoln Park. Best neighborhood ever!”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“This was the first apartment I rented, so when I read some of these reviews last year, I must admit I felt a bit nervous. However, I've found that the door people are very helpful and friendly; they always buzz me in and know me personally. Granted, they do only stay in the building until 10 or 11 which does seem a bit ridiculous when it comes to security. My apartment was always warm, especially in the winter. They do not remove the window air conditioners, but mine must have been sealed pretty tight because there were moments when I was a bit hot even! In regards to the laundry room, it was a bit of a pain getting my clothes down there because it's like walking through a dungeon maze to get there, and the elevators take their sweet time. However, they worked 99% of the time, and I never had a problem getting a machine.
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“This is a great place to live!!! I just love my apartment and the management. The summers on the rooftop are the best!”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I have lived in a studio apartment for 2 years and loved every minute of it! I am on the 5th floor and have a phenomenal view of lake Michigan. The staff coud not be nicer, maintenance is always fast and CLEAN, management is friendly and knowledgable. The elevators could be faster and the water pressure is low, but those are my only 2 complaints. I have NEVER seen any roaches, nor did I hear anyone ever having any issues. The staff keeps the building clean, they have a cleanining crew 7 days a week. Overall, I would recommend this place for the awesome location, great apartments and wonderful staff!”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“this is the worst company in all of chicago, and probably the entire world. i lived at 443 w wrightwood and the minute i moved in my studio on the first floor was infested with roaches. the building was not well maintained, thus roaches made a nest in the first floor's garbage shoot. they spread everywhere. in the pipes, in the walls..... the entire first floor is infested with roaches. it is absolutely disgusting and the management is even worse. andrea, the manager of the building, was very unhelpful, extremely rude and unprofessional. managers are supposed to help their tenants with any problem. little did i know, andrea was the mother of all the roaches. andrea would not let me out of my lease. she gave me absolutely no options, and said that i had to live with it. i'm almost prety sure she is also racist. they were bringing exterminators everyday to fix the problem only to look good, however even after 20 days of me living there, the roaches still existed everywhere. they were pretty much living in my walls and still wander the hallways till this day. i put an add on craigs list about my apt because i could not tolerate the roaches any longer. i finally found someone to sublet my place. keep in mind that i had already paid for the first months rent the first day i moved in, although i only stayed there for half of the first month. also keep in mind that, i did not sleep there every night because i was too afraid... so i would stay with a friend and come back to the apartment everyday and see more roaches. so technically i never really lived there. i took pictures of every roach i saw and have over 100 photos. when i found someone to take my apartment (god be with him) the property "manager" andrea said that they are doing me a favor by letting me move out and is not refunding me one penny. they are dirty thieves, the corporate office was also behind all of it. i also heard from reliable sources that BJB is the worst company in general. They have roach problems in most of their buildings and i've read that people hear mice in their walls. sorry for such a long post...just letting my frustration out. they are terrible. everyone else who have good things to say about them....it wont last. and the only reason i gave them one star is because yelp wouldnt let me post without marking one. ps: monica works with bjb. she is their realtor.... she is actually a very nice woman and wanted to help me.... however andrea has authority over her so if she helped me in any way she would have lost her job. monica, you need to get the hell away from andrea and work for a respected company because your better then that and andrea is not worth a minute of your time.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I have had a wonderful experience in this building. I have a beautiful lake/ park view from my cozy 1 bedroom, and the rent is very reasonable.
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“A lot of the previous reviews are pretty accurate. The location is great, the doormen at night were pretty friendly, the lady there during the day was always borderline rude though. I never had a problem with the water pressure, the toilets were insanely annoying and loud though. Also, during the weekends it was not uncommon for the garbage chute to overflow, making it impossible to throw your trash out. Only having 8 washers/dryers for a building with 100 units is pretty odd as well, I always just ended up doing my laundry late at night so I didn't have to wait. By far the worst part was the temperature in the winters. The heaters were very inefficient so it was never as warm as I would like, and also the A/C units stayed in, so on cold or windy nights, the cold air would just come right through. I had to put cardboard and blankets over it to try and stay warm. Also, they say the Internet and Cable is free, but if you have a HDTV you have to go to Comcast and get a whole new subscription, because the company they offer does not offer HD. The internet was pretty good, but the firewalls on it made some music sharing techniques unusable. Overall it wasn't too bad, and before I moved out they were improving a lot of things in the building so it may be even better now.”
However, I do agree about the issue with the heating vs. the air conditioner in the windows in the winter.. it can get quite blustery with the wind but everywhere I've lived has left them in so I think it's just something you deal with. — 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“I've lived here for about 4 months now, and I'm not overly impressed (definitely have some complaints), but I've experienced worse (by the same management company, no less). First off, the location is FABULOUS. 2 minutes and you're in the park, another 5 and you're on the lake. Despite this, though, the views aren't that great, even on the rooftop deck, b/c the building is relatively small and the surrounding ones are not. The lobby is pretty cool & there are 24-hour doormen (although the weekend guy likes to disappear). I have, however, received some random knocks on my door, and I'm not sure why solicitors are allowed entry. I can hear word-for-word conversations that my neighbors have, and when they have guests or come home after a late night, it's like I'm sitting in their apartment with them. The building itself is old, and it has not been rehabbed. So there are probably 20 layers of paint covering everything, giving it that thick, old, uncared for look, but it's also got some character :) Walls are plaster, so good luck hanging anything! The staff haven't been very friendly (except before you've signed the lease of course!). One example: we're required to have permits to store our bikes in the bike room, and when I asked the office manager about them she told me they were full and basically I was SOL. And there aren't bike racks anywhere near the building, so that pretty much sucks. It's pretty expensive, but then again, it's Chicago, and the bldg is right on the park. My advice: keep looking for that great deal that pops up every now and then, but if you can't find one, this place isn't a bad alternative.”
Go to CostCo, buy some space heaters, pay tons in electricity.<br><br>4) Unless you pay for parking at a lot or garage, you will be circling for a long, long time. I used to be a teacher and I once circled after school for 2 hours. You can imagine my frustration.<br><br>5) Get used to the stairs - the elevators are unreliable.<br><br>6) Eight washers in a building with more than 100 units? Insane.<br><br>7) The night watchman only stays until 11pm. I called maagement, they said to stay home all day so they come come by when they decided to. Lovely.<br><br>Bottom Line: JUST SAY NO.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“This place is terrible! I have lived in the building for 2 years and can't wait to get out! These are some of the reasons:<br><br>1: No water pressure and it goes from scolding hot to ice cold in a second. I have gross rusty water that comes out of my kitchen sink...and bugs that run across the floor.<br><br>3: The management waits until it's freezing outside and then turns the heat on. — 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“and you better love dogs because you going to get sniffed in the elevator, your going to get barked at walking down the hallways, and you'll smell them on occassion. The management staff is okey, the place has character and the location is great but the dogs and the fact there is constant door slamming in the hallways could drive you nuts!”

There is visible mold on the walls! Also, I had to hire an exterminator due to so many gross centipedes despite living on the top floor! The fuses constantly go out with minimal appliance usage and they never clean the a/c or cover them in the winter, so when you try to use it, tons of crap blows out at you. This place definately isn't worth it,location or not! Many of my friends live in the neighborhood with equivalent sized apts. that are cheaper and are very well kept up! LOOK ELSEWHERE!”

I always found the management helpful and courteous. Also, the location of this building could not be better. Everything you need is in the area and there is always something to do. I felt the pricing of the apartment was comparable to that of other building in the area that I initially looked at, so I definitely have no complaints about that. Parking can sometimes be an issue, but you have to remember you are living in the city and it's going to be an issue pretty much anywhere. If I never moved for work, I have no doubt that I would still be living in this building. I absolutely loved my time here.”
— 443 W WRIGHTWOOD AVE · Lincoln Park“The craftsmenhip in this building is pathetic. and the people who manage this building are even worse. It took them 5 months to replace a microwave, and when they did they installed one that was to heavy which collapsed the entire kitchen cabinets, breaking 75% of my dishes and glass ware, they fixed the cabinets two days later but refused to re-imburse me for the damage.<br><br>The shower pressure is just a little stronger than a squirt gun. Even though i pay 800 bucks!! 800 (for a studio) i stay at my girlfriends most of the time, cause she has a good shower and a air conditioner that's properly ventalated.<br><br>The only good thing about this place is the location, but i feel that the landlords take advantage of this and don't follow through on proper upkeep. the managment is very nice when your thinking of renting but talk down to you when you have a problem, and become very frustated when they're approached with a problem. In other words they are cold and don't give a damn about their tennents. <br> I am moving out of chicago in a year and don't feel like moving for 8 months and then have to move again, otherwise i would be outta here, luckily for you it's not too late to "just say no" to this building!”
