“One of my favorite things about my place is the location. I am so close to L Wrigley Field, grocery stores, dry cleaners, restaurants, CTA, and just about anything else you could need or want! The building sits on the corner of Broadway, which has a ton of stuff including a Treasure Island and Starbucks, each within a block of each other. You've got also lots of bus lines available. Hawthorne itself is a really nice street full of homes, trees, and people strolling to and from the park. There's also an amazing selection of clubs and places to hear live music up here. I just love it. The building itself is in great condition. The super/whatever you call them in Chicago (building engineer?) takes amazing care of the building. It's spotless, both inside and out. We have a nice little garden in front of the entrance and just seeing that when I come home makes a difference in my overall quality of life. The laundry room is especially spotless and kept up well. It also made a big difference that the Alat itself was looking good when I moved in. Immaculate floors, clean cabinets, fresh paint on the wall. Of course if something does break, I know Val WII take care of it immediately. A really awesome spot to live.”
— 596 W HAWTHORNE PL · Lakeview“596 W Hawthorne is a kept up well building in Lakeview. I appreciate the prompt attention to service calls from the building engineer. He is on-call 24 hours a day to help us with any issues that may arise. Planned Property mgmt obviously puts time and effort in the upkeep of their properties and I am happy to leave in such nice building. The building itself is an attractive stone building on the corner of a quiet street and Broadway which has lots of restaurants and a grocery store less than a block away. There's also a nice bit of green space and flowers out front. It's nice to come home to a clean lobby and hallways. The other residents in the building are all respectful of the common areas. The Alat itself was in good condition when I moved in. The hardwood floors were in great shape and nothing was broken, falling apart, or chipped. The place is well sized especially for the price. location-wise, it's great. I'm a short walk from Lake Mchigan and the park. Public transportation is plenty in the part of Chicago as well. Everything I need is in walking distance which makes day to day errands much easier.”
— 596 W HAWTHORNE PL · Lakeview“Planned Property mgmt is just another one of those money making machines that doesn't care about their tenants or their buildings. I never received help when things were broken (including my heat).

BEWARE: They were nice when they were showing me apartments, even promising to fix everything that was obviously wrong. Once they had my security deposit, though, everything changed. They even added money to my check without telling me!

Right before I moved out, they were showing my Aad when I wasn't home (which is understandable) but they left a lot of lights on (and I pay for my own electricity) and were not courteous AT ALL. They never called before they came and one time walking in on me and my boyfriend making love.

BASICALLY beware.
You've got SO many better places in this city, at such better prices.
Take my advice, look elsewhere.”

I really enjoy spending my weekends walking around and getting to knowmy new part of Chicago. I appreciate the on-site laundry facility as well as the valet dry cleaning service. So many of my needs are taken care of at 596 W Hawthorne! John from Planned Property mgmt has also been helpful in negotiating lease renewals and fostering tenant relations. The entire staff at PPM are friendly and communicative. I an quite happy with the ongoing service I receive from them. Looking forward to another year here!”
— 596 W HAWTHORNE PL · Lakeview“...you can count on a minimum $50 per month rent increase every year. My rent for a studio went from $630 to $725 over a period of three years. When I was given a renewal lease for $800 for 07-08, I left. You've got plenty of comparable studios in "desirable" Lakeview for less than $800/month. Oh, and I hope you like people. The Gay Pride parade, Chicago Marathon and various other summertime/fall events go right down Broadway, which part of the Broperty faces. And Wrigley Field is six blocks away, so there's a lot of pedestrian and auto traffic when the Cubs are home. But there's a great upscale supermarket across the street and a hardware store and drug store about a block away.”
— 596 W HAWTHORNE PL · Lakeview“Just moved in about a month ago and have had a pretty good experience. My studio is inexpensive for the area ($700/month) and It's close to the lake. The pride parade is this month and I am excited to find out just how loud the neighborhood can be. ^_^ When I moved in, there was a problem with ants (disgusting!) but we got it taken care of within 24 hours. The location seems safe and the people are all Fenial. So far, so good!”
