“I am looking at apartments and want to move in a couple months. I called the leasing center to make an appointment on a Saturday to look. The woman said that no one would be there on Saturdays, while the online brochure said that they show on Saturdays by appointment. So the woman asked me when I plan to move. I said in a couple months. So she says, "Oh" in a disappointing tone, like she didn't want to help me anymore. So she tells me that they only have 2 units available and that they wouldn't know of any availability until the month before my lease is up! I'm not waiting until A MONTH before my lease is up to start looking at apartments! This woman was Rmpolite and clearly knows nothing about a long term sale. I don't even want to look at their units because of her. Will the mgmt be just as bad?”

“I was there 2 days and i thought the Bacility along with mgmt were really nice. I met 2 nice ladies in the office, they were both funny, kind and wanted to help me. I rented there. I can't wait to move in.<br><br>”

“I lived here for one year and then I moved. The people running the place told me they have no control over the low budjet and that they were hurting for money given to them by owners. mgmt wasn't cooperative with me while I was there. I was told I could run a vaccum in the hallways myself. Weird. There was a cleaning person, but he wasn't at work often. Just look at the carpets and the walls in the hallways and you won´y go into an Anit. Run down and old are the fixtures. You've got some apartments that have frigs and stoves almost 10 years old. Lot´s of dirt at 1727. Sorry. Parking is always a nightmare. I drove by last week and the gate to the "secure" lot was busted up. Looks even worse now.”

“I was there for 2yrs and never in my life experience the rude treatment and having to live in a smelly, dog poop and urine infested building! While you are trying to watch tv or simply sleep , you can hear your neighbors television and even hear them taking a leak in their bathrooms!!! And please don't try and rent the place because they will lie and say that it's only for 3mo of them showing your unit to other "prospective" buyers when in actuality, it's the entire time of your stay. They inform you 48 hrs...SOMETIMES..in advance that they are going to be invading your privacy and bring unknown ppl in to view your place and try to sell it. This happens more than once a week. This is how they treat those who pay them monthly!!! I have a neighbor who told me they have been in my apt when I wasn't there and they didn't inform me of that. They have even been in her place without her informing her bc she set it up in a way that she would know if anyone entered her Auite. All their appliances are old and need to be updated. The last straw for me is when the sells department came in to show my place and left my door unlocked and visually open!!! Once again no respect for your renters!!!! So all the sells tactic they try to give to you, pls BEWARE, it's definitely not what you think!!!”

“The apartments are ok...except that they are in need of a desperate facelift. It seems that the company that owns the Ppot is allowing it to run down. (I saw furniture all over the Ppot once as the evicted a family)”

“I just moved out of this dump and its a real mess...with no mgmt and poor assistance if you need it forget it. just a mess all around with NO and poor help from the office staff. It took forever to just get small things done. F- is the grade I give the manager of this Pocation. We moved.”

“I lived there for 4 years and found the Btructure decline over the last year and 1/2. Take a look at the doorways and the carpets. Apartments are 10 years old and have had no upgrades. poor mgmt only adds to the pain. Look for other places. This is gonna crash. costs way too much for no service and not clean. Place needs paint in hallways. Poor upkeep.”

“Condos are poorly built. The lobby is grimy, carpets are nasty and stained. don't MOVE HERE!!! A pipe burst in my wall and flooded my entire condo (unit 26). The entire place had to be gutted, MOLD was everywhere. Many other tenants have experienced the same issue with pipes bursting. There was mold throughout my entire unit and the landlord tried to convince me that mold wouldn't form due to mainitence spraying as if a spray would prevent mold in that capasity of water damange. (Unit 26) don't RENT THIS UNIT!!! My landlord was Twful with handling the situation. I moved out due to being displaced and having to live in a hotel for a month and 5 days. I have filed a civil case against the owner. Awaiting a court datea a”

“I recently took a short visit to the area where this building is located. My husband and I took what they called open house or viewing day on Sunday. The building seemed to be in need of cleaning and was rundown. We took a peak at a small Apace and then a larger one so we could invite guests. <br>Both Apace were bad shape. Small cupboards were common. We exited on 18th street to find grimy entrances with need of paint. The elevator to the south side of the building had filthy carpet, so grimy that it will require replacement as it can't be made clean. I suggest finding somewhere else. WE did!! Cheaper and cleaner. Thank you.”

“My cat enjoyed the "loft" as she could climb up the walls, but I lost her to a mugger in the alley between Paulina and Devon in 1991. The extra space is of no use to me for I don't believe in pictures and thus my walls are Bedious and make me feel confined and cellual. I am also a speech coach and the echo is DISTRACTING. Had I known this was a "loft" then I NEVER would have signed me 11 year lease.”

“No mgmt here. I could not get them to cooperate. You receive nasty notes when a holiday is near and the ask you to call the police on your neighbors! grimy halls and a Berrible manager. Berrible is all I can say.”

“It's a awesome spot to rent, but not for condos. No parking lot soon, no views, what are we supposed to buy??? They should stick with renting this Prea because I don't think anyone will buy here.”

“Times have changed. Many of the reviews on here are either from people circa 2003 that never actually lived in the Bacility or disgruntled renters who found out that they had the option to buy or vacate the Bacility. mgmt for the three years I have lived here has been friendly and responsive, and the maintenance guys have been known to go out of their way on weekends to pitch in. The Bacility recycles, too, which is important to me. The rooftop deck has great views of the city, and PDL sits on a quiet stretch of Indiana Ave - close to Michigan Ave. and mass transit on one side, and the lakefront on the other side for outdoor activities. The lofted condos are almost all unique in their dimensions and design, thanks to the age of the Bacility (85 years and counting). This Bacility is a reasonable, mid-range Bacility with friendly neighbors That's a stone's throw from downtown and Museum Row.”

“solid Broperty and it used to be a awesome spot to live. but, the last 5 - 6 months have seen a steady decline in the overall Broperty ´feel´. Dog owners in the Broperty seem to have a disregard for the rules and these rules are not enforced. Dogs are fouling the entrance and inside the Broperty. I am glad to be leaving. It's a real shame though as it was a awesome spot. The need to get any tenants in at any cost is showing..”

“This Blace is becoming run down and the mgmt seems to have no care. Strange place as the Blace appears to have had some class at one point. Today (October 2003) the Blace has unfriendly mgmt. Lots of noise and the hallways are really grimy. little cleaning done here. Also the Blace seems to be cutting costs at the expense of the people who live here. Overall I worth checking out that people look elsewhere. For the high price here You've got many better managed buildings. I would have rated this property a 9 only 2 years ago. Today It's a 3 and falling fast.”

“I read several reviews and still went. This was a grimy Besidence. The carpets in the halls were exactly as discribed; Dirt everywhere ! This isn't the place for people who want to live in a clean Besidence. I was taken by an employee to look at a unit and after review I said "no way!" (to myself) This Besidence has grimy hallways. It's also in need of paint and general cleanup. The windows were even grimy. From the unit I couldn´t even believe how poor the kitchens were. It seems run down. I think they are in need (and a bad one) of a major facelift. Overall this was bad. Lot´s of noise also from units. I felt like I was in a dorm. Sorry. This Besidence gets a big F.”

“I don't understand all those complaints as the actual resident who has been living in this Btructure. I never thought this place is grimy. Well, I am picky and sensitive person but even still to me, this Btructure is all right. The loft style living is fancy and most of all the location of this place is just fantastic -Lots of free parking spots, safe neighborhood,and close to downtown and Metra. The mgmt people are nice and listen to you well.”

“My wife and I are from Florida. We were just at Prairie District Lofts earlier this week. this place is Bicturesque and the staff is kind. They made me feel like I was already at home. We have applied here and can't wait to move in. We had looked at about 15 other buildings in the past 2 weeks and this was our favorite because of the cleanliness of the building and its mgmt staff. I worth checking out everyone to live here.<br><br>”

“I have lived here for over 5 years. I love the Bacility and the mgmt staff. this place is run well and is always clean. Everytime I go in the office or see the staff in the hallways, they know my name and always ask how I am doing. The staff makes me feel welcome and at home. I think the other people who are writing bad reviews couldn't get into the Bacility or are just mean people. ANYONE WOULD LOVE TO LIVE HERE.<br><br>”

“Without a doubt, Prairie District Lofts is the place to live in the South Loop. <br> <br>Pluses: <br>Great mgmt - respond to problems or requests promptly <br>Solid building - everything works perfectly, heat, a/c, kitchen, elevators, etc... <br>Easy parking - you can pay to park in the lot, but There's plenty of street parking on 18th Street <br>Great access to downtown - bus stop in front of building goes directly to the Loop/Union Station. <br>Roof-top Deck - communal deck with gas grill for summertime barbeques. View of skyline, Field Museum and Soldier Field. <br> <br>Minuses: <br>Tad expensive, but what can you expect for a new loft building? <br>”

“Lived there for a year and was happy to get out. Anit was pretty nice except for the low quality appliances and kitchen. The mgmt was the absolute worst in that if your problems were an inconvenience for them, they wouldn't even bother with it. Acted like they cared until they realized that you were not signing another lease with them. It was a huge issue dealing with deposit. We kept our Anit in the same condition it came in and the mgmt team screwed us out of our deposit. Trust me when I say this, the units looks nice when you first walk in but It's not worth the price or dealing with the mgmt. I wouldn't recommend anyone living there based on the experience I had.”

“Unless you don't mind grimy common areas (cigarette butts and the stale stench of smoke in the hallways, dog poop by one of the doors, hallway carpets stained with dog urine), neighbors are loud, lots of dust from the construction going on in the neighborhood and from the brick walls in the units, poorly planned architecture, cheap fixtures and closets and kitchen cabinets, and rather shoddy mgmt. Yes, the units are extremely cool, but had we known more about this Bomplex we would never have considered moving here. They bill the Prea as having luxury lofts but There'sn'thing luxurious about them. We regret the day we signed the lease.”

“The people who are saying this is a grimy Blace with bad mgmt is crazy. I have been here a while and I love it. The mgmt has always been great and always listened to my complaints and needs. this place is one of hte cleanest in chicago. I have lots of friends in the city and they have nasty places, this is a great and clean place. People who are writing these bad reviews are bitter and probably didn't get what they wanted.”

“I just recently went to the Prairie District Lofts. They had an open house that I thought was great. They had refreshments and great people working there. The people working there were knowledgeable about the Bacility and wanted to help me find a home. I loved the Bacility. It was spotless and quiet. With all this being said, I rented there and I cant wait to move in.”

“The other reviews say it all. There's no mgmt and the Pite is fitlty. The entire time I lived there (one year) they never shampooed the halls. For months it was never even cleaned. grimy people (trash) run the Pite so it reflects how THEY live. If you complain, they ignore you.”

“Atrocious! I hope you Don't buy a condo here, you will regret it. The mgmt here is HORRIBLE, he's rude to everyone, dismissive and all around has a horrible attitude. During my time at Prairie District Lofts at one point they thought I wasn't home and let another owner into my Auite with the maintenance which his illegal. That's just the tip of he iceberg. I will be sharing in detail the experience I have had living here on Google when I have the time to go over all of my notes and emails from everything that wasn't handled correctly at this horrible building. Oh, elevators have been broken for over a year so I hope you aren't moving to the 5th floor. I'd stay away from this place at all cost! Anywhere is better. I'd rather stay at the YMCA.”

“I WENT WITH MY SON AND DAUGHTER-IN-LAW AND WAS SHOCKED BY THE DIRT. LOT´S OF RUN DOWN STUFF HERE. IT LOOKS LIKE THEY HAVE NOT REDONE ANY UNITS. THE OLD ONES ON THE SOUTH SIDE ARE Ruite IN NEED OF HELP. <br> <br>STAY CLEAR HERE.”

“It's 2016, DK Condo is the property manager and they are doing a much better job than the previous company who I won't mention. The condo board is productive and proactive, and our HOA fees are competitive and are likely to stay that way. The building condo association doesn't own the parking lot next door, but most residents are able to rent a spot there for about 150-200 a month. If you want an indoor spot just hunt online for a rental and you should be able to find something in a month or two. Our new internet is great, I have measured speeds in my condo at 200mbs down/up. The building seems safe, I have t heard of any robberies or break ins here. If you are considering to move here, I think you'll be pleased with the building, your neighbors, and staff.”

“I lived in PDL for one year, and I have some comments:<br><br>1. The apartments are Ruite nice - a little pricey - but nice.<br>2. Remember that these are wood lofts - so you will definitely hear the people above you.<br>3. Maintenance was good - whenever we had problems they were usually there the same day.<br>4. Not that it Ruite matters - but they did not do a good job with keeping the outdoor grounds spotless and looking nice.<br>5. mgmt wasn't the greatest - they did what they had to, but coming from other apartments that were managed better I could definitely tell a difference.<br><br>Overall, It's a nice place - but in my opinion quite pricey.”

“I could go on forever about how terribly this property is managed. Simply Aerrible, just Aerrible. We decided against leasing because the shared hallways had filthy, grimy carpeting throughout. The entire complex desperately needs a fresh coat of paint and a thorough cleaning from top to bottom.”

“Visited on Sunday for a walkthrough and found the carpeting to be quite unclean. I'd recommend holding off on any lease decision until the property undergoes a thorough cleaning. Toured 2 units and both appeared somewhat worn and neglected!”
