“Since all the construction has stopped, the building has become a great place to live. Very nice gym and convenient access to the red line/Michigan avenue. Friendly staff and office management.”
— 30 E HURON ST · Streeterville“Poor management. Always under construction. Projects never completed on time.”
— 30 E HURON ST · Streeterville“Have been renting at Huron Plaza for only a few months. So far my wife, dog and I have had a pleasant experience. The location is awesome and the views are nice. There is a lot of construction going on since many of the units are being converted to condos. I hea people have elevator issues in the early morning because two of the four elevators are used by construction workers. Things might get noisier once my floor gets its hallway make over that is supposed to happen pretty soon. Two things that have annoyed me is the hammering that is going on upstairs and the workers on those window washing lifts. The lifts drive my dog crazy. I don't have a car but the garage just got a huge makeover. You don;t reaaly need a car because just about everything is close by. The amenities are nice but I just the party room they have wasn;t $100 to use. I haven't dealt with the management too much but the door people and maintence staff are really nice. The construction people have also been very responsive given all the work they have going on. Not sure if I would buy but so far this has been a great place to live.”
“I moved into Huron Plaza in 1982 and moved out in 2004. Lived in a 1br then a 2br and was generally pleased with everything except the lack of preventative maintenance. All electric housing is VERY expensive, especially in winter. With a window heater in a couple of places, there is very uneven heat all around. Also, there is poor circulation so I had to use fans to distribute the heat. I was very happy to move out of a 25 year old building on it's last legs. Good luck to all who live there now and in the future. Can't judge parking as I don't have a licence and never owned a car. The views were crowded out by the Fordham, Pinnacle and Chicago Place. More loss coming with Trump Tower and the 60 story high rise going up in St. James Plaza where the Diocesician Center building is now.”
— 30 E HURON ST · Streeterville“I live here, it has some problems, but all and all it is a pleasure. All leases have a 60 day out clause, no one has to stay. If you are unhappy, you just give management 60 day notice and you can move. The pool is beautiful, I have never had anything stolen, management has been prompt to attend to complaints, as far as a bug crisis...some spiders, all harmless! Yes, storage was removed. In its place they are building a new fitness area, party room, and theater - an ok trade.

I like it here. I will stay as long as possible. I'd buy my unit, just can't afford it currently. Hopefully, I'll win the lottery and buy the Penthouse.”
— 30 E HURON ST · Streeterville“This building is unlivable! At least one day a week I have no water because of the conversion. Everyday I wake up to drills and hammers. All day everyday I hear sirens echoing nonstop. Management is ridiculously awful. Sales are rude and arrogant. We have a huge bug problem, spiders, lady bugs, and big beetles crawl through the cracks in the windows. We have electric heat and air that is not included. Which also makes the electric bill through the roof! In the winter my bill is aroung $225 a month and its still freezing because the windows have holes in them. You can't ever get an elevator without a 15 min. wait because with conversion they have one to two of them locked off. And then there usually someone moving out. This building has a lovely pool, that only gets two hours of sunlight from 12-2. And we now have a theater that seats 7 people in place of our storage units. In addition, we have picketers outside with blow up rats yelling about Cresent Heights and their labor practices all day everyday. They even lost there permit for the construction because they don't follow the rules. We also have theives that live in the building. I've had 3 loads of laundry stolen out of the laundry room in 3 months!!! That was worth around $1000. But Crescent Heights couldn't care less. THIS BUILDING IS AWFUL!!! RUN! RUN! RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!! BEWARE OF THIS NIGHTMARISH BUILDING!!”
— 30 E HURON ST · Streeterville“I rented a North facing studio in the high 20's, the view of the shoreline east is amazing, on a clear day I could see all the way to Evanston. The units are very large and have good closet space, my studio was 650 square feet, I paid $1,100 a month and given the location, I thought it was the best deal in town, the unit was dated though, it had the original appliances and older window units. The location is second to none and the building is perfect. When I found out it was going condo, I really didn't expect much, the gym was a bit small and a aged, the common areas were a bit drab and dark, I didn't think it would hold water to some of the other condo projects that are popping up all of the city now. Wow was I wrong, I was just passing by one day and there was an open house, I decided to go in and see what this new manager/developer was doing. It is unbelievable, the pool and sundeck are like a Cancun resort, the gym is twice the size with state of the art equipment, there is a movie theatre, party room and new laundry room, wow! But even more impressive was seeing my unit built out to a one bedroom with all new stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, maple cabinets, completely new kitchen and bathroom. I couldn't believe what the new company has done to this building. Regarding my sales person(s), I actually spoke to two, they were so professional and not pushy at all. I explained to them that I wasn't necessarily buying but I lived in the building for a couple of years and just wanted to check it out, they were totally fine with that and gave me their complete and undivided attention. I read some of the other comments that are posted, I completely disagree with most if not all of the negative comments. One thing that is true is that in this and other high-rise buildings that I have lived at, they all have spider problems, I don't know what it is but spiders just like high buildings. If I didn't live up North, I would definitely buy at 30 E. Huron.

Elise

”
— 30 E HURON ST · Streeterville“Yes, 30 E. Huron is in transition.

It comes with the occasional elevator delays, some construction problems, and some leaky windows. However, they have renovated EVERYTHING in past months. The pool area, laundry room, and lobby are all incredible. All-in-all, the maintenace staff is attentive, the management staff addresses problems fairly quickly, and the building runs relatively efficiently.

We opted to stay until our unit is sold or we purchase it.”
— 30 E HURON ST · Streeterville“I have lived at 30 East Huron as a renter before the condo conversion and am now renting from a private owner.

The water pressure in this building is great, I've had only minor maint. issues in my apartment, and the maint. staff always came super quickly. Sure, there have been some growing pains with the condo conversion in terms of elevator delays, but I have lived in downtown high rises for 7 years, you just have to be patient and it's not that big of a deal. It's a quiet building (made out of concrete & steel and not some drywall junk) in a fantastic location. Yeah, parking is expensive like everywhere else downtown. Blame Mayor Daley for that one.”
— 30 E HURON ST · Streeterville“I have a gorgeous corner one bedroom here at Huron Plaza but the place needs new windows, you can here them shake and rattle when its windy. They leak and we have a spider and lady bug problem that´s out of control!

In addition, the temperature´s always very unconfortable and all winter long my electric bill has been $200 - $225 and its still freezing in my apartment!!!

The elevators are slower than molasis. And the constuction is extremly disruptive to say the least. And there´s some sort of water problem. Often times my bathwater is rusty and sometimes they decide to work on it and turn if off without notice. I´ve had to go to work without a shower because of it!

Overall, the building staff is very friendly, prompt, and accomodating, but
the people that are associtated with the conversion team(Crescent Heights) are a different story. They are rude, arrogant and less than inattentive to the residents needs and concerns.

”
— 30 E HURON ST · Streeterville“This building has gone downhill since Crescent Heights took over. The elevators are slow and Mgt. keeps them keyed off so they can show the model units to buyers. This building has fallen apart lately. The Habitat Company kept the building up and managed it very well. Crescent Heights is more concerned with making money than making the residents happay.”
— 30 E HURON ST · Streeterville“Living in this building has become UNBEARABLE since the condo conversion started. The management office has never returned a single one of my calls.

Units are spacious, but the window heating/cooling units do a terrible job of both heating and cooling. Elevators are taken out of commission for construction workers during peak times -- waiting to get downstairs in the morning can often take 5-10 minutes.

The staff outside of the management office is extremely pleasant and courteous. The doorstaff is fantastic and maintenace is always prompt.

They´re doing wonderful things to the building, but residents are paying the price by living with noise and inconveniences -- and a management office that treats rental residents like second-class citizens.”
— 30 E HURON ST · Streeterville“I loved my stay at 30 E. Huron! Cresent Heights, after buying the building this summer, made it an even more accomadating place to live.

Day or night, if I had a problem, maintenence, fixed it! Breakfast was served on Fridays, Lily, the property manager was always available. I had to leave early to begin my residency, and she took to time to resolve all issues.

I am sorry I won´t be around to enjoy the pool this summer. Hopefully, I can return to Chicago to purchase one of your AMAZING 2 bedroom condos.

THANKS FOR A GREAT LIVING EXPERIENCE!”
— 30 E HURON ST · Streeterville“How sad are you? It´s obvious you are bolstering your poor ratings. Sorry. Everyone can tell you´re management.

This building is a ---- hole. DO NOT RENT HERE. Noisy, rude, incompetent staff....I´m moving out as soon as I can sublet.”
— 30 E HURON ST · Streeterville“New rental management doesn´t know their left from their right hand and the maintenance staff are not able to fix problems in the apartment after several attempts. When Habitat ran the building, they kept it up. Now, the new management wants to make a quick buck, turn it over to a condo association and have the association fix all of the problems.

Terrible heating/cooling system (window units) and there´s not enough hot water for a shower at peak hours when the weather´s cold. Also, there are problems with the windows.

STAY AWAY!”
— 30 E HURON ST · Streeterville“Ever since Cresent Heights began managing the building several months ago, the overall sense of community and happiness has gone down hill fast. The employees are downright rude. Several times my husband and I called with questions and never once received a return phone call. When we were finally able to move out, the staff did not even know we were residents of the building. They thought we were there to inquire about purchasing a unit (yeah right)! It is surprising that after all the bad experiences we have had with the management company, they are still honestly puzzled as to why they are not selling units!! Go figure! Beware: Stay far away!!”
— 30 E HURON ST · Streeterville“I lived at Huron Plaza for two years. I loved the location. The noise level in the building was excellent as well as the service and the units had excellent closet space. But, I would never rent there again because the building has a serious problem with spider infestation. The spiders are everywhere in the units and I lived in two different units in the building and both units had the same problem and other renters complained about the same thing. Huron Plaza really needs to do something to rectify the problem because it is totally ridiculous.”
— 30 E HURON ST · Streeterville“We were in Chicago for 22 months before moving to the NY.

My husband and I absolutely oved our apartment. The management staff were excellent, able to fix anything at short notice. Loads of storage in the apartments, great views and amenities.

We have been very disappointed with our reolation and accomodation here, but if you are looking for a great home in Chicago I would without hesitation recomment Huron Plaza.”
— 30 E HURON ST · Streeterville“My name is Dave and I have lived in the Chicago area for most of my life, and Huron Plaza is by far the best apartment I´ve ever lived in. The units are very large for the area and have the best views of Chicago out of all the buildings that I looked at before I chose Huron Plaza as my home. The best part of all is how great the staff is, the door staff are friendly and extremely helpful, the maintenance staff are prompt and reliable, the leasing staff does anything for the tenants, and last but not least is our fabulous building manager (Connie) who is always there for everyone. I highly recomend Huron Plaza as a great home to everyone in Chicago !!! As The Habtit Company says managment truly does make the differance.”
