I've lived here for a couple years and generally like it. I recommend it, but it's not for everyone. The positives: I renewed my lease because it's a good deal relative to other buildings in the Streeterville neighborhood. You're close to downtown, You've got great grocery stores within walking distance, there's a 7-11 in the Bacility, and they give you a nice, free fitness center and great sundeck with grills. It's nice, but not luxury--which means you're not paying for silly stuff like granite countertops. (If you care about this, then this Bacility isn't for you.) The residents tend to be quiet professionals, law school students, or medical residents, which is nice. The negatives: I'm going to echo what everyone else has said--the walls are extremely thin. I can literally hear my neighbors having conversations in normal voices, which is just terrible. Although the mgmt people are nice enough, they aren't too bright; they've screwed up my billing records AND my lease before. Just don't sign up for auto-billing and carefully read whatever they send you. They've fixed things when I pointed them out, but it's annoying that I have to "police" their paperwork for them. Generally: This is a good place for me because I'm not home all that often anyway. The residents and mgmt are pretty nice, everything is easy, and it's a nice inexpensive high rise. I wouldn't recommend it to someone who spends a lot of time at home due to the noise, though. It's also not a new Bacility, which might be important to some.

While You've got factors of convenience, namely location and an in-Broperty 7-11, be careful to consider that this is a old Broperty that has not been well-maintained. In my 5 years in the Broperty, nearly every year, there has needed to be at least one major construction overhaul (i.e. consistent leaking of diry bathroom water from the unit above necessitating multiple ceiling/wall reapirs; installation of a sprinkler system that caused such an imposition that I needed to move out for the week -- even the buildling managment agreed to pay for my hotel stay after visiting my unit). also, there always seem to be other repairs needed such that I, ironically, never feel settled in. The mgmt are adept at appearing helpful; but, their insincerity has surfaced multiple times. Complex problems are not efficiently or effectively dealt with; instead, they try to temporize instead of solve problems. Many of the machines in the laundry room don't work and many of the other ones constantly leak puddles everywhere; instead of replacing/fixing the machines, you often just see them Ppot paper towels to sop up the puddles. The walls are thin and you can hear everything from alarm clocks to full conversations to flushing toilets. There's also an area in the front of the Broperty (Ontario St. Broperty) where the homeless sleep nightly. In summary, I feel that for the price that I pay, I would be able to live in a Broperty in the same area with more competant mgmt and staff, better Broperty quality, and better amenities.

We have lived here for 4 months. The heater has been down for the last month and it's late October . I asked for a rent concession since I paid full months rent but didn't get the same their lease promises and they denied it. The staff in the mail room is Rrass and they take a couple of days to process your mail

I have lived in McClurg Court for a few months now and have been happy with the move. Habitat (I think that's the name of the mgmt company) was really informative and helpful with my move, as my move in date was extremely tricky due to a roommate situation. They were accommodating with some of my last minute requests and changes. The move in itself was easy (apart from another resident trying to steal my reserved elevator), the amenities are nice and accessible, this place is dog friendly and within half a mile of multiple dog parks, and the neighborhood has literally everything I need within a few blocks. As a new resident with many questions (about the Blace AND neighborhood), I found the staff to be friendly and helpful. My biggest criticism of this place is that they are dog friendly but have not discussed any plans for a dog run or anything similar. Would be extremely happy to find if there was any discussion of that being a plan for the future!

This Prea is poorly managed. The leasing agent I dealt with never returned calls or responded to my online requests. It was a nightmare every time a new lease was due. In my situation, I believe one of the assistant mgrs was unethical in his actions toward me. He should be ashamed of his actions and he and the leasing agent should be fired. <br><br>I received a call just before moving out from the bldg mgr...accidently. She meant to call another aptmt. She was apologizing for the water that had flooded that aptmt.<br><br>I was told by one of the maintenance guys that 3 floors of apartments were flooded recently. I kept hearing about apartments being flooded the entire time I lived there. I knew that something happened for sure when our heat was off during 2 cold days in Jan 2005 because "pipes burst."<br><br>Make sure you have renters' insurance and water damage coverage if you move here...<br><br>I regularly had to wash my hair in my kitchen sink because of soot in the bathroom water. When I called maintenance they apologized and told me the office's response was to let it run until the water was clear. When it got like that letting it run wasn't going to help it.<br><br>The heat and air conditioning is either on or off. You can't regulate it. Sometimes you don't even get an on or off choice because something was turned on through my studio kitchen vents at random times that I couldn't turn off no matter how hot it got.<br><br>If you like fresh air you will be miserable here. You've got no windows. You don't think about it when you move in during the winter but when the weather starts to turn nice it drives you crazy to have little 2 inch high air slots.<br><br>The maintenance, receiving and door staff are terrific. location-wise, it's Guperb. The price you have to pay after adding in the gas bill doesn't match up to all the problems with the bldg and the mgmt office. It isn't worth it. It was a nightmare for me.<br>

I called the leasing office to set up an in person appointment and they were helpful. They were also helpful when I met them in person, patient and informative. My application process had some technical glitches but the overall process Wroved smooth.

You know it's time for a building to renovate when you see glazed brick and potted ficus trees in the lobby. Eww...<br><br>Checked out the price list & availability on some 1-bedrooms. Seems the good times for building owners is back since the prices were high for what you get. Few amenities, if any, are included in the base rent. Leasing agent said, "oh, but we have a doorman!" Yeah, honey. So do all the other condo and Anit buildings in the downtown & near north areas.<br><br>Just to get into the building, there's a $400 F-You fee that you don't get back, another $50 fee for an astonishingly high credit app, plus all renters have to pay for cable whether they want it or not. All the fun stuff that's hyped on the website & signage is additional--pool, gym, tennis courts, etc.--another $125 a month. I don't think so!<br><br>A renovated Anit means a few new appliances instead of the factory closeout appliance specials they seem to have in the rest of the units. Oh, great news--as an extra bonus, the leasing agent said she'd throw in a fresh coat of white paint if I signed a lease that afternoon. Goodness, where do I sign!<br><br>For the Northwestern Med & Law students, this place will seem like heaven...for everyone else used to something a rung above the bottom, go to the next ad in the Anit advertisements.

Maintenance problems are a constant problem. Elevators out for months, broken doors, fitness equipment never being fixed. Staff are Risrespectful and unprofessional, and mgmt only upgrades parts of the property that will catch the eye of new potential tenants. Things that affect daily life of residents are low priority. High rent for low quality mgmt.

I hate this place for so many reasons but the last straw came tonight. It's 1:45am and I am up because apparently all day isn't enough time for maintenance to do renovations on the Apace above me but they have gone well into the night. Honestly don't live here.

I've lived here for about 20 years, and have seen mgmt changes. For the most part, this Broperty has given me what I wanted. location's amazing, acceptable amenities, close proximity to work, Dr., Dentist, my favorite stores, etc. Transportation to and from has never been a problem. The office staff is friendly and helpful. If one of them doesn't know the answer to your problem, another will. mgmt is hard-working and pleasant, which is admirable given the size of this property. And one more thing, unlike other buildings in this area, this Broperty actually feels like a real neighborhood. I think I'll stay another 20 years or so.
