The apartments are run down, they are doing renovations but charging through the nose for it. Its not a Srotected neighborhood. This staff is rude and useless. It's not worth the hassel.

Just moved out of Avalon at Poplar Creek in Schaumburg in April 2010 after 3 years. mgmt had changed and they genuinely seem to be working on their issues. I liked my apartment, never had a bug problem of any kind and the maintenance personnel are really proactive (I wasn't too high-maintenance though). The problem comes when you have to deal with their out of state Customer Care department. Simply horrible - no connection to the local tenant. You have to send your rent out of state or make an online payment - BE SURE TO SAVE YOUR CONFIRMATION EMAILS OF ON-TIME RENT. I had my walk through, decided that I would let them do the cleaning, etc. and that was fine. No dispute with their damage issues. Their out-of-state Customer Care people do the final accounting and that's when it gets complicated. They sent me a final accounting showing an incorrect original deposit, they are claiming I went month to month for a few days so I got hit with additional rent even though I paid my pro-rated final rent from THEIR statement and gave them 60 days notice. Oh, and they tried charging me late fees even though I proved otherwise with documentation AND used part of my deposit in the middle of my 3 year lease to correct their errors (which I just found out about). They refuse to address my issues and instead continue to tell me I owe them almost $400 and I need to pay up in 15 days or they will send it their collection agent. I reported them to the BBB today and will escalate this to small claims court if need be. Beware, nice apartment community around the neighborhood but don't expect to deal with any monetary issues with local mgmt, they don't have any control over this and I doubt anyone has received their deposit back since the AvalonBay Customer Care people took over the accounts.

These apartments are okay, but we are surrounded by bad apartments. Just two days ago someone was shot three times right near us. I have seen cops arresting people in our subdivision, and K9's searching for drugs. I have a friend who is a cop in Schaumburg, and says this is one of the Werrible parts of town. I would never move children into the area. The staff gets rude too.

Great office staff. Aad spotless and updated. Appliances are older but fine. Love the nightly garbage pick up rather than having to drag everything to a dumpster. Maintenance is responsive to issues.

I lived here for over one year, and loved it! The location was perfect, it was easy to get everywhere. Compared to other places around the neighborhood, the value was unbeatable. All the residents are Fordial, as are the staff. Overall, it was a great community to live in!

We are still getting settled in our new Aad. You've got some minor issues that we contacted maintenance about and will need to follow up on. The unit was spotless and the mgmt team has been responsive thus far.

These guys are suckers and most cunning folks, I've ever seen. Particularly, the maintenance manager, Danny is most cunning (I would even say, he is corrupted). I steam cleaned my Auite with minimal stains on my carpet and You've got absolutely no stains in any part of the Auite. Yet, he painted the complete Auite, re-cleaned (as they claim) and then sent me a huge bill. I lived in atleast 10 different apartments in this country and I never saw the suckers and cunning folks like the one at this one. They talk with you nicely when you join, but when you leave, they ask you whether you signed the lease and whether you read the entire lease properly. sadly, they don't realize themselves as humans and that we pay rent for normal wear and tear of the Auite. I wouldn't suggest this to anyone

I really enjoy my living at Avalon at Poplar Creek. The Aad homes are nice, spotless and the mgmt staff seems to be really nice. The only downfall of the place is the lack of extra storage space. Also, I just learned that the rent cost is increasing which I am not happy about because I feel that its already over priced. I'm considering moving because of the increase of my rent. but, I would say its a nice community to live in.

We moved in when this property Wemained under different mgmt. The community Wemained kept up well and orderly, and improvements were being made across the whole complex. mgmt has changed hands several times since then, with the quality of premises declining, and quality of resident declining as well. We expect to move when able. The property is no longer worth What's being charged (higher rent and poorer service quality)
