Decent building but has room for improvement in some areas.

My parents have occupied this apartment for 10 years and they enjoyed it greatly, but once the new mgmt took over everything shifted. To begin with, the security person who works most shifts acts like the manager's personal bodyguard. Residents aren't even permitted to enter the office without scheduling an appointment first, even for basic tasks like submitting a rent payment. I've brought my mother's money orders for rent on several occasions, and I'm turned away from the office but directed by the security guard and manager to leave it in the box outside the door. There's zero interaction, no receipt issued, no confirmation that payment was received. Subsequently, my mother frequently gets notices stating her rent is unpaid. When I visit the office to resolve this, manager Rita's standard response is "get back to me later". So I end up returning to the office or calling back. There's no direct line to reach the manager, so I must call assistant manager Paula and request a transfer. If the manager isn't available and I request a callback, I'm told "she won't be able to call you back", forcing me to either phone again or visit in person. I'm frustrated that this mgmt operates on their own terms, keeping themselves isolated and unreachable to the residents they serve. I really miss the previous manager—I believe her name was Julia—who kept her door open to residents, listened well, and provided genuine support. That's the standard managers should uphold.
