I lived in the Farcroft from June 06-May07. It was absolutely disgusting. All of the common areas were consistantly filthy. It wasn't uncommon to find feces, urine, and blood in the hallways or in the elevator. The elevators were rarely in working order, always smelled like garbage, and had no ventilation. The actual units were large but unmaintained. 3 of the radiators in our unit were not in working order. Our stove had a gas leak that need to 2 emergency trips from the gas company. Our floor boards were rotten through and through. The walls and ceiling all had water damage, to the point that plaster often fell off in chunks. Water pressure was terrible, often didn't get any hot water until after 10am. Managment knew about all of these issues, failed to respond to written letters, and eventually had to let us out of the lease because the unit wasn't up to code. I'm sure that they didn't fix any of the serious issues - just put band-aid on and rent out to the next unsuspecting person who happens along. To top it off, neigbhors were loud and rowdy, street parking is impossible. The only redeeming quality that this property has is it's proximity to the beach, but even that isn't worth the trouble.

I've lived here 2.5 years and it was very nice for the 1st 2 years when Tawani Property owned it. The building was renovated, but it was renovated before it was sold to Silver property group. After silver property bought it, management cut off the AC in all the main areas, including the gym, even when it was almost 100°F outside, even though buildings are required to have cooling and heating areas, especially in buildings this large in case it's not working in our apt, which happened to me and I had no AC for 3 days in the summer and there was no AC on in the lobby where my child and I could go to cool off. Silver property doesn't clean the laundry rooms, vacuum hallways, won't turn the AC on in the gym, which violates our lease because we're unable to workout in 95°F without AC. They charged a fee for tenants portal, and other fees, plus rent increases by hundreds of dollars after they bought it. Maintenance is very slow at fixing things. Our intercom system was even out for almost 2 weeks, until it was brought to the alderwoman attention due to tenants not receiving packages or medications delivered because they wouldn't fix it. This is an issue with all 5 properties they bought from Tawani because I've had friends call me asking if I still live in the same place and said silver property took over their building too and they're having the same issue. Silver Property Group is so bad that we've had multiple tenants move since they took over and I also want to when my lease is up

This is honestly the worst apartment that I've ever lived in. Rotting floor boards, gas leaks, water damage, and disgusting common areas all add to the charm. mgmt is aware of all of these problems, and does nothing. For your own sake, don't ever live here.

Lived in Farcroft since October '07. I never saw blood or urine in the halls, though I've seen a full dog poo bag. The common areas are far from immaculate but this isn't the projects, either. And the two constantly broken elevators are more than annoying if you live above the fourth floor. But! The building sold last month and a new mgmt company is taking over, so we'll see what changes. The units themselves are HUGE and GORGEOUS and the lake views are amazing. With proper care and maintenance, this would be an incredible place. Too bad I may leave and buy a condo before it will ever reach its potential.

don't BE FOOLED. THE ELEVATORS don't WORK. As on October 30th, the back (modern elevator) has been out for 27 days. The landlord claims they have been waiting on a part but the reality of the situation is that It's an expensive repair that the building doesn't want to make. The front elevator (when it works) works from floors 2-12, which is easy for bringing in groceries or doing laundry from the first floor! The front elevator is original and frequently breaks leaving passengers stuck. I was stuck last Saturday night and had to be removed by a fireperson. One of the units on the top floor had a roof collapse. This summer, we were without hot water for a week. My unit got mold after the rain this summer, and I was told it wasn't an issue, because It's a vintage building. I forgot, vintage=mold. This building needs to be condemned by the city. Hopeful it will, the owner has to go to housing court for not fixing problems highlighted by a city inspector as of 1/26/2007. Come on, can t we understand that it takes 9 months to fix things that are our basic right as rent paying tenants! Who do we think we are, homeowners?
