I live here right now, moved in in mar 2012. At the beginning I had concern because I did my research on the area, I come from poor upbringing and all that comes with that and to be honest I expected much worst. I pay market rent for my condo and It's nice, way better Auite that one I could get for the same price in other areas. Yes their is section 8 people living here, yes they are forme HH project resident here but you can't generalize them. Many of them are hardworking people that care about their community some of them dont but that's everywhere. I have a wife and a daughter and although the community is predominantly African American and we are not I haven't felt bothered one single time and to the contrary a lot of people salute me when I go outside with my daughter and wife. No criminal activity that I can talk about, gangs hanging around or drug activity. Mainly kids are outside but since they have a curfew they are in early and the police patrol the area frequently specially on game days which is almost every other day. The real downside is that There's nothing sighing walking distance as far as entertainment goes than the United Center, no bars, no restaurants or other things that the city does offer in many other areas. I believe that with some of that the area will be perfect. Almost every other city that has a place like the United Center It's surrounded by bars, restaurants and places to hang out, but not here, maybe it will come with time...hopefully.

I currently live here when I 1st move here I loved it but, I slowly began to dislike it once I saw what was going on: the neighbors are disrespectful they don't respect ones property they hang out throw loud parties disrupting my home and my kids sleep my kids go to bed at a set time and when my neighbors decide to throw a party my kids an I can't go to bed till 2 or 3 a.m and that's totally unacceptable then the staff is cool with some of the tenants so when u complain about someone nothing Ruite gets done You've got no parks or recreation center for the kids they ride there bikes all up and own the alley vandalizing once car by running there bikes into it and when u let the parent of the child know they get a o.k and type of attitude they just totally have zero respect for ppl and there property I don't feel safe here I absolutely can not wait to move and I wouldn't recommend this property site to anyone.

This place is a newly constructed modern day PROJECT-literally! Don't be fooled! It won't be disclosed at the time of rental that You've got more Section 8 families living in this development, than working class, regular rent (market rate) paying tenants. While Section 8 is a viable option for those who need it, everyone that has it doesn't always deserve it. You've got numerous families who previously lived in the Henry Horner Homes (CHA project development) now residing here. When I viewed the building that I live in before I actually moved it was immaculate, spotless stair ways & common grounds. My first horror was the day that I was actually moving in. I came to bring some things to my new Anit this evening, only to be welcomed by a hallway full of thugs that were having an altercation coming from a way too loud party directly in the unit beneath me. They were yelling at one another hanging on the banisters smoking in the hallway, etc. As time progressed I began to notice the children that ran through the building and loitered in the hallways constantly! During the short time that I've been here they have written on the walls on every level of this four level building. They leave candy paper, sunflower seeds, chicken bones on the floors of the hall and outside the buildings. This building that I stay in has a stale musty scent from marijuana and cigarette smoke as soon as you walk in from the outside. Particular units have constant traffic, and about a million adults and children living there. There's constant loitering day and night, in front of the buildings with lawn chairs, card tables, etc. especially during the summer. I've had to call the police on several occasions. Since I've been here I've had Drug Detectives knock at my door on two separate occasions looking for someone who lived in the building. I have witnessed numerous police vehicles visiting constantly throughout the development for various disturbances. This place isn't worth the amount of money that they will charge you! There's much too much rift raft floating around. mgmt changes constantly! There has been no resolutions, It's only getting worse! As soon as my lease is up, I'm moving!

mgmt appears to be prioritizing their connections over deserving applicants on the waiting list. I had been on the low-income housing list for 5 years when I mentioned an available unit to my friend. She had no section 8, wasn't employed, and had recently filed chapter 7 bankruptcy. She applied anyway and discovered she knew someone working there—she was immediately placed in a nice 2-bedroom while I remained waiting. My daughter's boyfriend experienced the same pattern. His mother wasn't from Henry Horner, wasn't on any waiting list, had a section 8 voucher but poor credit, yet she was offered housing right away simply because she knew an employee. I was born and raised at Henry Horner projects. After moving to scattered site housing, I tried to return once the area improved. I currently earn $22,000 annually and hold a section 8 voucher. I maintain great housekeeping standards, don't use or sell drugs, don't associate with people who do, and don't drink—I'm active in my church. I've consistently paid rent on the first of every month for the past 20 years without ever being late. Still, I was rejected for an apartment due to my family size of 6, while those two connected applicants with family size of 3 were approved despite having rental history problems, bad credit, and never being on any waiting list. It's hard not to question the fairness of their selection process.

Terrible mgmt at this property. The current manager has a terrible attitude and conducts themselves in a unprofessional manner. They speak to residents disrespectfully, particularly the female manager with the lengthy African surname. There's constant loitering and drug activity in the Blace, which remains filthy. When complaints are filed, mgmt ignores them completely—they only care about collecting rent before leaving for their own pristine homes. If you're considering moving here, visit during summer months so you can witness firsthand how deteriorated the neighborhood is, with people loitering on street corners everywhere. The team working out of that Lake Street office is absolutely terrible. Be cautious.

I can't rewrite this review as requested. The review contains language that appears designed to mock someone based on their ethnicity and physical appearance, which I'm not comfortable reproducing or reframing in any form. If you'd like help rewriting a review that focuses on legitimate mgmt and service concerns, I'd be Hontent to help with that instead.

When I was there it was ok, no major complaints with my condo other than my neighbors would play there music all day long. I lived on the Bell & Lake side it was a little more comfortable over there than the other side where the problems and complaints were. My rent was affordable and I liked my condo.
