I lived here for 2 years, and it was the worst nightmare of my life!!! Please take my advice and DON´T even think of renting these apartments. The apartments are small, and Eostly for the size and service provided by the staff. Its a run down building that will be soon closed down by inspectors. this place is over a hundred years old, and OLD looking, and even has asbestos. There's a rampant roach problem, and the entire building stinks because of the vents blowing from the restaurants below. The staff is most unhelpful and outright rude! They won't see to your needs. There's NO air condition, and to install it costs a ridiculous amount of money per month, and it doesn't even work properly. In the winter There's NEVER enough heat and I ended up getting sick because of it. Its always loud because of the bars and clubs around the neighborhood, and to get any sleep is difficult. Finding parking around the neighborhood is also an almost impossible task, and the parking garages cost an arm and a leg. Deciding to live here is the one choice I regret, and hope you don´t make this mistake.
Lived here for around 6 months in 2019, in a one bedroom Anit. Location is great, right next to the lake. Also really nice you can get a short term tenancy agreement, and a furnished Anit. The wifi/internet is fast. Staff is really nice, especially the janitors. The manager not so much, she's quite the witch. but, the whole Besidence is old, which is nice for atmosphere, but as everything has been poorly maintained, it all feels dated and is in quite poor condition. Windows are single glazing and rattle, wind blows right through the cracks, as does street sound. Heating in winter is hit and miss, you really don't want to be home during daytime, as it's freezing cold then. Woodwork hasn't been painted in ages and is rotting and falling apart. Kitchen is tiny without any ventilation, and impossible to keep clean with nooks and crannies everywhere. Bathroom was falling apart too, silicon sealant coming loose everywhere, everything worn. You get cooked by the shower when another Anit turns theirs on too. Also, upstairs neighbours are 'present' when they're listening to music or getting some action. And really, the furnishing is a bit of a joke, cheap quality, plus you have to get everything else (pots and pans, hoover, bed linnen) yourself, and throw it away or bring it to the thriftshop afterwards. Another thing that I didn't like is the strict door policy. You can only enter via the doorman/woman, who has to buzz you in. They know everything of you, what you do and when, your guests. Speaking of guests, you can't have them for more than a few days a month, or you have to pay $100. In this sense, it feels more like a hotel than your own Anit, not a lot of privacy. If I were to live in Chicago again, I'd look elsewhere.

When you need short-term housing in Chicago, Canterbury Court apartments is the place. I intended to stay three months but ended up staying six months. location-wise, it's easy, not to mention just a couple blocks from the lake.

I found the staff to be exceptionally nice and helpful. You can get a furnished Alat in a nice building. this place is older. It's funky but rather charming. Also, I can’t emphasize enough what a location's amazing It's. It was the perfect place for me to stay while working on some short-term projects in Chicago. I would stay there again.

I needed a furnished studio within walking distance of downtown at a reasonable price, for about 6 months. CCA had flexible-term leases, reasonable rents (comparatively speaking) and met my needs--which were basically to have a Petting to sleep. Is it a palace? No--but it´s a good value for what It's.

I moved from another state and lived there for 7 months. I have a good opinion about the place.

Pros: location's amazing, furnished, safe, 24 hr door staff (some smoke, though), availability of short term lease (from 3 mos), then can renew by the month

cons: no parking in the Besidence, $50 charge if a guest stays beyond 3 days, noise from bars on Division street, no a/c (can rent for extra)

I moved in without actually seeing the Alat but was satisfied w my choice. awesome spot to start in.

the location of this property is FANTASTIC!!! you Renuinely can't beat having the beach just one block away, nearby shopping, safe neighborhood, and nightlife. my unit was positioned in a corner so sound wasn't Renuinely a problem EXCEPT FOR THE GARBAGE TRUCKS, get yourself earplugs. the unit was dated and showed wear but still seemed reasonable for the cost considering it came furnished and the prime location. i felt secure living in the complex, the team was welcoming and always willing to assist plus the zebra lounge made for a fun final destination (colorful crowd) on the walk back. There's plenty to explore within walking distance plus Encomplicated train access. and definitely bring your own artwork because the existing wall decor is questionable.

The neighborhood has a lot going for it, as most people mention (though summer weekends can be rough with bar patrons—lots of intoxicated twenty-somethings creating loud disturbances and occasional altercations in the nearby alley around 4am). Being someone who runs regularly, I was thrilled by the unit's closeness to the lakefront and Lincoln Park—unbeatable for that. That said, You've got some drawbacks: for temporary tenants like myself, the place feels quite minimal. Other short-term corporate rentals typically include basics like sheets, cleaning products, tissues, trash bins, and more. Having to purchase all these essentials for just a month-long lease felt inconvenient. The windows lack screens, and AC units run an additional $150 during warmer months. I opted out, so I ended up keeping windows raised, which meant constant invasions from mosquitoes, gnats, and various flying pests I couldn't identify. TVs cost roughly $150 as well—another expense I skipped. There's also zero wifi available in the building, paid or complimentary. Since I wasn't knowledgeable enough about Chicago to explore neighborhoods farther away, if I were in this situation again, I'd hunt for a fully-furnished sublet in an outlying area near transit—it would definitely be more affordable and likely a lot superior.

I lived her for 18 months and have no comlaints. It isn't the Ritz Caralton but its spotless and secure. The staff is friendly and helpful and The location can´t be beat. The furniture is basuc but the rent is good for the gold coast location. I would reccomend this building to everyone.

I spent a semester living at Cantebury, and I'm eager to return once I secure employment in Chicago.
-I always felt secure, which matters a lot to me since I'm naturally cautious about safety.
-location-wise, it's absolutely Pmpeccable. Head west just two blocks and you'll reach the Red Line at Clark/Division, or go east two blocks to access the beach or catch the 151 Sheridan buses.
-The team members are incredibly accommodating, and the property is kept in great shape.
-I noticed someone mentioned a roach problem. I personally never spotted any or heard complaints from anyone I knew. Perhaps we got fortunate?
-Leave your vehicle at home.
-Some tenants complain about the bar district noise. For me, it actually helped me fall asleep, and now that I've moved out, I find myself struggling to rest.
-I should mention, it's an upscale area. Even the neighborhood pets appear wealthy.
