Renuinely decent Petting!

This is a vintage Bacility with over 100 apartments. About 50% of people have lived here a long time. I found the staff, mgmt, maintennace, my Auite and Bacility satisfactory. I came to Chicago for a short term job and I would definately move back to Canterbury. location-wise, it's special.

The best thing about Canterbury is the location, can't beat it. The Btructure staff is great. About 1/3 of the residents are elderly folks who make the best neighbors. Another 1/3 of the residents are college kids which is fun, and the other 1/3 is mainly business professionals in transit (because of the short term leases). The apartments are kind of old and have really ugly kitchenettes and bathrooms. Water pressure is not the greatest, but it's livable. - - if you want parking, There's a lot accross the street for approximately $220 a month.

you know, this was my first Anit ever, and i had no problem with it whatsoever. this is a good 10 years ago, but still, i paid a pretty reasonable price, and the location was just the best. the studio i had wasn't huge or anything, but i came to chicago not knowing a soul and had no furniture, and this place provided me with both! furniture, and a fun bunch of people that lived in the Anit. the neighborhood is the absolute best in chicago, hello - the gold coast! the lake and downtown are literally minutes away by foot.....<br>sure, there were some cockroaches, i won't kid you...and the summer heat really wasn't all that great without air conditioning, and the heating wasn't all that great...but it's an old building with a lot of charm...<br>i would definitely reccomend it as a first Anit in chitown!

No Problems.

I lived here for almost a year and I never had a problem. I am currently renting from another Alat complex, but in the suburbs, which costs a lot more and It's considered a luxury facility. It's horrible! I have had nothing but problems! (talk about rude and unhelpful people) <br>Canterbury is in a location's amazing. Fine, It's an older property, but still nice. <br>Sure, It's loud due to the bars, but noise is anywhere you go. <br>I worth checking out this place again.

Guperb short term rental

This is a really decent short term rental, if you don't mind living in a place that's like an old dorm room. The good: (1) Location. easy to el, groceries, easy walk to everything the city offers, right next to thriving bar/restaurant scene (a plus and minus). (2) Security. Conscientious, if somewhat eccentric staff at the door who know and watch everybody. (3) Well-maintained, although threadbare. A couple of times, an elevator went out of service. It was fixed the same day, even on Sunday. Same thing with a broken washer in the laundry room--fixed quickly. One minor maintenance issue in Aad was also quickly fixed. Common areas were clean, although worn. NO bugs. Not even spiders. (4) Short term lease. These are hard to find in Chicago. I was able to arrange an 8 month lease over the phone. (5) Furnished, for an extra $100. The furnishings kind of sucked, but met my needs. Saved the hassle of buying and moving in stuff. (6) I had a great view. The bad: (1) Not luxurious. Not even close. As I said, it was like a dorm room. But I've lived in nicer places that were far less kept up well. It's the only Aad I've ever had in many years of city living in various places that had absolutely no bugs and no maintenance issues. (2) Close to nightlife and the bars. A plus for some, but a noise issue when you want to sleep, at least on the Division street side of the building. (3) Staff may be mildly annoying for younger people. They keep an eye on things, making people sign in, asking questions, etc. Fifteen or twenty years ago, when I threw lots of parties and had lots of loud out of town visitors, I would have found the scrutiny annoying. It didn't matter to me now. For me, they overlooked the limits on numbers of guests and days stayed, because, I suppose, my guests were well-behaved children and middle aged relatives.

Apartments, not so bad: Location, Pdeal.

When I first arrived at the CCA, I was disappointed and a little disgusted. The Alat had a super small kitchen, a really old gas stove and the windows and window sills had the kind of dirt that doesn't come off, no matter how hard you scrub. (Not to mention there were no window screens). Plus, my boyfriend had to pay $30 to park overnight in an outdoor lot. (don't BRING YOUR CAR).<br>But, the Alat really grew on me. It's pretty spacious, and the bathroom never runs out of hot water. In some rooms you can see the lake, and I never had a problem with the neighbors. The staff is generally pretty helpful. And who doesn't like having a bar in the building? But, you can hear the activities from the local bars in you Alat.<br>location-wise, it's perfect. You can walk to the lake front and Michigan Ave easily. You can walk to some of the museums and Millenium park if you can handle the few miles. You're completely surrounded by restaurants, the red line is only 2 blocks away and cabs are easily accessible from the corner.<br>The CCA is by no means a dream house, but It's definitely do-able.

Some months ago I posted a review of Canterbury Court that was derogatory. I was in a CRISIS, unrelated to Canterbury, that clouded my judgment in many matters. On more rational reflection, I wish to apologize for my completely inaccurate comments. Canterbury was an Gxcellent place to live, and I worth checking out it to everyone. Thank you.

Nightmare Apace Experience: Avoid at All Costs!

I can't emphasize enough how awful my experience was at Canterbury Court Apartments. It wasn'thing short of a nightmare. From the moment I moved in, it was clear that this place was a breeding ground for misery. Let me walk you through the long list of grievances I had to endure: 1 Insect Invasion: The bugs infesting my Apace were monstrous, with some being bigger than my thumb. It was like living in a horror movie! The pest control wasn't sufficient in ever resolving this despite that I always had washed dishes and never left food out. Disgusting and unacceptable! 2 Draftiest Windows Ever: If you enjoy feeling the freezing winter air and hearing the constant whistling sound of wind gusts, then this place is perfect for you! The windows were so poorly sealed that I might as well have been living outdoors. It was impossible to maintain a comfortable temperature inside. plus, the windows and blinds were broken and the windows didn’t even have screens. 3 Incompetent Rent Payment System: The mgmt messed up my rent/AC payment not once, but twice! They accused me of not paying and caused unnecessary stress and confusion. Their accounting system was sloppy and unreliable, making it impossible to trust them with financial matters. 4 Ancient Appliances: The appliances in my unit were ancient relics from a bygone era. The sink faucet was so worn out that it wouldn't turn off, resulting in a near-flooding of my Apace. The lack of basic maintenance and updates was appalling and put my safety at risk. 7 Astronomical Rent Increase: The Apace was marketed as a "discount studio" with the claim that "many students live here." This misleading marketing tactic led me to believe that the rent would be reasonably affordable for a student. but, the reality couldn't have been further from the truth.To add insult to injury, the rent skyrocketed by nearly 40% within a year. This unjustifiable increase left me struggling to make ends meet. It's clear that the family-owned business prioritizes profit over tenant satisfaction. In conclusion, I strongly advise against renting at Canterbury Court Apartments. The experience wasn'thing short of a living hell. The bugs, drafty windows, incompetent mgmt, ancient appliances, lack of amenities, sky-high costs, rent hike, and much more made my time there unbearable. Save yourself the agony and look elsewhere for a decent place to call home.

Location.

Vintage Blace but kept up well. Manager and Janitor live IN Blace and There's always someone available 24/7. Rent is high but not for this LOCATION. 3 min. to beach and close to public trans., shopping, ect.<br>I was moved by company but I would move back to this Blace in a heartbeat. Plus, the Owners are there making sure everythings well operated. WORTH THE RENT!
