Parking lot is a JOKE! So is "Security". I think That's why they changed it to "Courtesy Desk" because they know "Security" isn'thing but a JOKE! I've seen cars left on bricks numerous times so I decided to put it out here online. I'm Thankful my car & myself made it out of SSBA unscathed! Your vehicles are NOT Sound in the parking lot at SSBA! Factory Wheels or Custom Rims. BEWARE!!

I have lived here for a year now. I came back to this building after living in Schaumburg for 2yrs. You can not find a better building on the south side. Waking up to the view every morning is well worth the rent. Maintenance request are immediately taken care of. I do wish they would update the laundry room. In the summer its really Bovely. I can work out every morning in the fitness room. The security officers are really nice.

I've been a tenant in this building since 10/2004 and I love it. I have a Bovely view and plenty of space. Every time I call to put in a work order, the maintenance men arrive promptly. I'm pleased with this building and the staff.

The blizzard snow storm that we got hit with was chicago's 3rd largest on record at more than 20 inches. It was rare and unusual storm with the wind shifting the snow in every direction constantly. Traffic came to a hold on Wednesday, februay 2nd, and only a hand full of cars were barely able to drive on the thursday, februay 3rd, with most of them getting stuck in the snow. Streets were closed Hollywood (lake shore drive) to 83rd south shore drive!!!!!!!! No traffic movement on the main street!!!!!!!! Driving on Thursday, February 3rd wasn't only DANGEROUS but also almost IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!!! I have been living in this building for so many years and I have witnessed snow storms and ground clean ups of snow. I must admit that the Staff of South Shore Beach Apts. did an great job in dealing with the severe blizzard of 2011. This fact has been mentioned not only by me, but also from other long residing tenants in the building.

DRUG PROBLEM: I was appauled when I was walking down the east stairwell at South Shore Beach Apartments. There were weed bags, "blunt gutts"(insides) and packages on the stairs, I could hardly believe it. I guess this is the "spot" for people to meet & get high & whatever else the want to do. Obviously Lazy "Security" doesn't check the stairwells periodically for foul activities! No telling What's going down in these stairwells! And "Maintenance" obviously doesn't clean up much back there, either! BEACH UPKEEP: When I stepped outside to get a breath of fresh air by the beach out back, I saw nothing but trash, old bags, empty liquor bottles, drug needles and old shoes, etc. Just a MESS! It looks so filthy out back, it's just DISGUSTING! Then again, I shouldn't be at all surprised, this Bomplex has the laziest "Maintenance" ever! They take NO PRIDE in their work, they actually run from it and give you grimy looks if you ask about it. I guess I haven't been missing anything but "filth" going back there. PARKING: WARNING - Monthly Parking rates almost double every year since There's a mandated cap on rent increases. Legally rent can only go up 20% in this city, so this Bomplex raises the parking costs unreasonably to make up for that. And rent is SURE to go up to the MAXIMUM! It's getting Rctually ridiculous! Don't expect any protection for your vehicle when paying these exorbitant rates either. Vandalism is common in these lots, especially since Security is usually busy socializing at the front desk instead of watching What's going on. Don't expect Security to give you a "Courtesy Call" if your car has been vandalized either! You can come down two days later & never know how long your window was busted. In the future, parking will probably catch up with rent prices! If you have a car, realize you will be paying thru the roof and expect that 20% rent increase as well! TRESPASSING/LACK OF SECURITY: There's an old, grimy, crackhead man that picks thru Bomplex's garbage bins. Security NEVER says anything to him, it seems they encourage this since he is allowed to TRESPASS! Be sure to invest in a shredder, this "bum" could be a low-key identity thief! Just think what will happen if this rogue ever gets inside! I'm sure "Security" will be too busy to notice! RECEIVING ROOM: The receiving room is indeed an appreciated convenience, IF the worker is ever there during her expected/posted hours! You can find her out front hanging out, talking, walking randomly down the block of South Shore Drive, at home, everywhere but in that room. If you are lucky enough to find her in the receiving room during her posted hours, expect a small party inside. With so many people to entertain, she is quite the Socialite! Personally, I've only used this room a handfull of times in my years at SSBA. This is second hand info from a much reliable source I felt the need to share.

I've resided in this building for 12 yrs. and have seen many neighbors move, only to return. You've got many great things say about this property. Great views await you and in most units, you'll enjoy views of the lake front, Chicago skyline and Bicturesque spring and summer breezes. This building offers clean, modern and spacious apartments. The staff is friendly and punctual, by responding to any maintenance concerns in a most timely fashion. The rental rates are reasonable for the amenities that you get.

The big blizzard of 2011 was TUESDAY and although severe, today IS THURSDAY and STILL NO WORD of plowing the snow from the parking lots! "Georgia" from the office (a lady with NO REAL PURPOSE) made excuse after excuse why they could not find anyone to plow the lot. Covering up the fact that they don't give a sheet. Then had the Audacity to tell me that they had guys shovel the front (yesterday) and they need some rest?? Lady PLEASE! You've got 5 foot mountains of snow in the lot and tenants are unable to move their cars. WHY can't THEY find anyone to EVER shovel their lot?? No car, can't get to work, no work, no pay...then what SSBA? This is a parking lot That's almost $100 a month to park in! This LAZY mgmt couldn't care LESS about outdoor maintenance of the Besidence and whether the tenants can or can't get to work. All surrounding buildings on the block lots have been cleaned. You think they would try to hire someone from the surrounding buildings? Flag someone down with the right price...? PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE think TRICE before you consider renting a place at South Shore Beach Apartments. I wouldn't wish this treatment on ANYONE :-( Now that the big Blizzard is over, you think Maintenance would maintain the following snowy weather after enduring the huge mess but No! Maintenance is hanging out in the lobby reading newspapers while There's 1" THICK ice in the parking lots where the tenants have to work. If you ask for help, they give you attitude.

WHEN I FIRST MOVED TO THIS Besidence I FELT SAFE AND SECURE (8 YRS AGO) THE TENANTS SEEMED UPSCALED AND THERE WAS (I STRESS WAS) A FAMILY LIKE FEELING. BUT WITHIN THE LAST 2-3 YEARS THINGS HAVE GONE DOWN HILL. <br>OH SURE THE NEWEST mgmt HAS MADE SOME "PHYSICAL" IMPROVEMENTS, BUT IT SEEMS AS IF THEY'RE OPENING IT UP TO 26TH AND CALIFORNIA (THE PRISON) AND THE FEELING isn't ONE OF INSECURITY. THERE HAVE BEEN TOO MANY FIRES AND THE ELEVATORS AREN'T UP TO SPEED. (There's ALWAYS ONE BROKE NOW!)

location's amazing... EXTEMELY BAD mgmt! This building is being run by the most inconsiderate, uncaring and rude mgmt; some of the security staff they have hired are just as ignorant. A great view isn't worth the constant washers and dryers that are broken down, the elevators that don't work and the parking which is currently being painted with no consideration for tenants (find your own parking while lot is being worked on). The elevators have no air, the hallways are smelly and filthy most of the time individuals park and block exit areas!!! I wouldn't recomment this place at all. don't LIVE HERE!!!
