My biggest issue with living at 425 W Roscoe was how the maintenance staff cut every corner possible. Work was poorly done and there is an attitude of "just paint over it." My second issue was the amount of noise from the apartment above me (just walking). My apartment was spacious and it is in a great location. If you don't care about noise or quality you will do just fine here!

I have lived at 425 W. Roscoe for about a year and am really happy here! Like any building there are pros and cons. Pros: the neighborhood is amazing -- walking distance to several grocery stores, tons of restaurants, bus stops and the Red Line; the size and price are really a pretty good deal in this area; the building managers live in the building and are very quick to respond and act to any maintenance issue (huge pro!); the light in the building if you get a south facing unit is amazing! Cons: the building is quite old, so it has some 'character' but everything is well maintained including the elevator which didn't work for awhile but it now up and running with no problems; heat is electric which can be kind of expensive in colder months. All in all if you're okay with the quirks of an older building, this is a great place.

This place is under new management so tbd if it shapes up; but for the last three years, it had the following issues. Heating is paid by tenant and it was very expensive to keep the place "semi warm". The elevator would be unavailable/out of order almost every day. For the past three years I had over $600 in packages stolen from the mail area and management did nothing about it. They do have a huge issue with cockroaches

This apartment building was bought out by another company in 2013. Since the change, I can no long recommend this building. Heat does not stay on consistently, and there seems to be more of a disconnect with management and the tenants. I will not be renewing my lease at this apartment for these reasons. My neighbors are also very, very annoying, but that problem is more individual.

So, this building has been taken over by Apartments Management Group, formally Beals Properties, and the wonderful lady that everyone is referring to on the reviews is no longer here. I have not been here quite a year yet, and so far it is a fine building IF you can tolerate waking up to ice cold radiators in November with 32 degree temps outside. Going by the Yelp reviews, I imagine it will be downhill from now on.

Quiet, clean, safe, just renew my lease for another year and a half. Love my place one bed great space on th eliving room, kitchen way to small but I am used to it by now. 1/22/2013 I just to live there, left over a month ago. This building was great before been sold twice, the current owener is a big company but they don't care. If you have issues they don't fix them. You call them and all they do is take a message and no one will call you back. The janitor is rude and in my case he got in my apartment without my permission. Laundry room a disaster since no management lives in the building is hard to get things fix stuck washers and driers. The elevator is very old and people have had got trapped in there and had to wait hours to get out because calling the janitor means leaving a voicemail and wait for him to show. The new tenants on the fifth floor will fight the female screaming for help and two hours later she will be screaming while screwing the boyfriend. So annoying and it was a cat only building (meaning very quiet building) now with so many dogs is hard to even have a good night of sleep. The worst place to live. The worst rental company.11/10/2013

this was a great apartment to live. i had a two bedroom: spacious, bright, extremely think walls, cheap. the building manager is amazingly sweet and always helpful (plumbing, shoveling snow, etc etc) and accommodating--the best landlord i've ever had. i don't own a car so the only cons for me: small kitchen and only 3 washers and dryers for whole building. Otherwise, i must recommend!

By far the best apartment I've ever had. Beautiful building. Friendly landlord is always available when you need her. Great price. Great location. The building is old and definitely has its quirks, but nothing that I couldn't handle. Not the place to live if you have a car though -- street parking only.
