I really love living here. I live in a studio, and it's an amazing area. I don't have a car and I've never had any issue getting what I need. Also, the maintenance is awesome. My radiator was broken and it was fixed the same day I mentioned it to the office downstairs! I feel super safe and my apartment is super clean. Definitely would recommend. The only downside (if I had to choose something) would be that it's a pretty quiet/private building. I just moved to Chicago so I was looking to make friends with my neighbors but so far I haven't met anyone my age.

I have lived here in this buildinging since 2001,every since then we have went through different management for quite sometime. Now here it is 2011 and we have a new one by the name of Richard. Who has been a great help here to the residents of Common Whealth Apartments. I've noticed a lot has changed since then. A change for the good! So as far as the rating goes I would list Common Wealth Apartments #1 on my lists of great places to live...

I have very much enjoyed living in this apartment complex. There was a period where a former property manager caused issues, but thankfully that is no longer the case. Rich is highly visible in the building, making himself available to address the concerns and needs of the tenants, as well as to just say hello. Parking, while it can sometimes be frustrating, is usually available within a few blocks. This is Lincoln Park....I'd rather spend a few minutes looking for street parking than pay $350 a month to rent a parking space down the street. Directly behind the building is a great grocery store as well as a pharmacy. The close proximity to major bus routes (15 minute walk to the Fullerton "El") makes this a very convenient and desired location. The beach and the Lincoln Park Zoo are only a few blocks away. The street is only one block long, so the only people walking by are the ones that live here. We don't get the loud, obnoxious bar crowd stumbling by screaming at 3 in the morning. Another review seemed to say that the heat never comes on. Not true. I actually find it petty nice in my apartment in the winter. After all, this is Chicago. You can't expect to walk around in shorts when it's -20 outside. Be reasonable... I am sad to move away from 2322 N. Commonwealth. I have lived in this building for my entire Chicago residence and would highly recommend it to anyone.

The rent is very reasonable for this great location. ADE Realty was terrific to work with and made everything easy. The new manager is eager to please and my apartment was super clean for move in. I'm very happy to have found this building.

I love living in this building, the staff is friendly and helpful. The rental process was easy and the apartment was totally spotless when I moved in. The common areas are classy without being snobbish and always clean. The laundry area is clean and the machines are in good repair. The location is ideal for me as I love the lakefront and the zoo, both great places to get exercise with nice views : ) If I have a question and I'm at work I can call the management staff and get quick answers. There is a new on site manager that is helpful and always has a warm smile. There are many tenants that have lived here for years, some even for decades and are not only happy with the location but with the building, maintenance and staff. Great place, great neighbors, great location and inexpensive rent.

This place is a crap hole. The management & realty company will try to tell you that you are geeting a great deal in an otherwise expensive area. Overall Lincoln Park is a very nice area, but a lot of businesses have moved out or closed. You can live a little further north and find a lot more to do. The biggest problem with this building is the manager, Fred Ledwon. He is: #1 A loser moron who is always hitting on female residents and making rude comments. #2 He is usually away from his office. Signs that read "Back Soon" or "Out To Lunch" will hang on this jerkoffs office window from 10am until 6pm when he finally returns from the bar. #3 He has been stoned while on duty. The lobby frequently smells like pot. #4 He is rumored to have had prostitutes over. #5 He is rumored to be a convicted felon. Larceny or embezzlement. #6 Nothing will ever happen unless you go over his head and talk to Susan Lang from Ade Realty. #7 The heat is included in the rent, but it will never be on because Fred the Turd had a fake fireplace space heater in his apartment. Residents are not supposed to have space heaters because they are fire hazards. #8 He is a loudmouth gossip who will tell one resident what he just heard about another resident. I've learned how much money my neighbor makes and which girls Fred thinks are insane. I'm guessing the ones who shun him when he hit on them. He's a jerk, a pervert, he wears Scarface tennis shoes. He shouldn't be in charge of the ring toss game at a carnival, let alone in charge of an apartment building. Move anywhere but here.

I was shocked to find an apartment in this area for such cheap rent! I had been looking for a place in Lincoln Park for a couple weeks and everything was ridiculously expensive. The studios in this building are at least twice as big as other buildings and way more affordable. This is a great find in an expensive area.

I actually enjoyed my time at 2322. I had a gas leak once, and they were very prompt and nice about fixing it. This place is very affordable, so don't expect luxury, but I would definitely recommend 2322 to someone who is wanting to save money. I mean, you cannot beat the location, and I thought all of the management staff was very nice.

I never thought renting could be so bad until I moved here! The maintenance and management are TERRIBLE. Every part of the building has a disgusting odor. Not only is the manager creepy, but he's lazy! I don't think he does a lick of work. He's always in his apartment smoking and watching TV rather than calling for all the repair requests he obviously gets. Don't count on having anything in your apartment repaired here, even if you're willing to get on the manager's or the the company (Ade Realty) that owns this place's case. The entire building is so filthy, from dead cockroaches on the floor, to stairwell's walls that are falling apart. Moreover, not only are the halls dirty, but I won't even use the laundry room anymore! It stinks and it has never once been cleaned. I have signed up to have my clothes picked up and washed elsewhere. Not to mention neighbors that leave their trash in the lobby and by their doors. After I call the City of Chicago on Ade Realty for not having proper fire exits, I am ready to pay more for a better place in a few months!!

When I first moved in to 2322 N. Commonwealth, I thought I had found a true gem for a reasonable price. I didn't mind that building was older or that the appliances were dated, until I heard the stories. It seems that the ovens are so old that one had a gas leak & a tenant caught on fire! The stove was about 50-100 years old! There are other rumors of gas leaks. When the new building manager, who I will call "Mr. Creepy", took over things became worse! One night the halls were filled with smoke & same said moron "Mr. Creepy" chose to knock on doors to see if anyone had burned anything instead of calling the Fire Department. He also makes sexual comments towards female residents, chain smokes & never responds to any complaints about building maintenance. The front & back stairwells are never cleaned, the laundry room has at least an inch of dust on everything, the elevator is never cleaned out, the maintenance staff has no pride in their work. This place will make you wish that you still lived with your parents. Save your money & rent elsewhere because the building owner & realty company are slum lords.
