The leasing agent is a complete nightmare to deal with. She did not return phone calls, and her e-mails were curt and useless. She did not explain anything during the leasing tour. In fact, she talked to her coworker who was stoned during the tour. I am not kidding. When I signed the lease she did not explain any of the terms of it. I had to point out a discrepency. My family wanted to pay the deposit in cash, but she did not have a receipt book. She rolled her eyes and took an hour to get the receipt book. When I moved into my apartment my tub would not plug (I was trying to wash it). Also, the plug-in for the A/C had been bent with pliers as to make it fit in the electrical socket. Great location. Worst management on the planet. Do.not.live.here.

So, I have never been so determined to log on and tell people to run away from something. Living here will be the craziest thing you do (if you have been warned previously). I moved here from the Loop for cheaper rent, but to stay close to downtown (and to be close to Chicago's beloved Oldtown neighborhood). After moving in roaches filled the hallway and STILL do. After complaining to management, little to nothing was done except for the strong odor of bug repellent surfacing overhead in the halls. Also, people smoke in this building. To fix the problem-the maintenance personnel sprays some Lysol, but the odor of the smoke still overpowers the "strength" of Lysol. In addition, phone calls rarely get returned in a timely manner. PLEASE-go the other way. DO NOT LET THE PRICE SUCK YOU IN! At the end of it all your just get a few unwanted roommates (roaches) and a cloudy overcast (smoke).

I got this apartment for the location and was willing to suck up living in a smaller space, however the way this building is kept up and run leaves a lot to be desired. The washers and dryers (4 of each for over 60 apartments, so you can imagine what that's like) are always breaking down and it takes forever to get them repaired. Calling for apartment repairs is fruitless. I don't usually throw around terms like "slumlord" but when the shoe fits...
