“Great choice, I’m renewing now again. I’ve had only one issues with my toilet and they fixed it right away. Location is very convenient and close to Wynwood and Miami Beach , i95 etc. low utilities bills”
— 1400 NW 10TH AVE · MIAMI“I have had an amazing experience here at Dominion. I just left after 4 years due to a relocation and want to thank the management. The building has improved so much in the last few years, in and out. Pricing is very reasonable and this location can not be beaten. I could walk to my job in the medical district, the parking is right next door and it's really close to main roads, Wynwood and other cool areas in Miami!!”
— 1400 NW 10TH AVE · MIAMI“An honest person would not rate this building more than 3 stars. The building is super old and stinky. Everything is terribly old. The carpet (some units are hard floor) is super old and dirty and the manager is a dictator who would not change anything for you unless something is really broken! She would not care if you living in complete mess where roaches are everywhere in the building and they cannot stop them! The kitchen cabinets are super old and stinky. The hallways does not have AC so you are burning of heat and humidity in the summer. The apartments are waaaay noisy!! 911 vehicles pass by and their siren is just horrible!! Even with two layered windows they have but still the siren wakes you up like at 5am!! Just horrible. Nobody ever saw the manager's smile and she also sometimes will not even say hello to you! She is a rude, cold-hearted careless person. Do not rent this building it is a mess. The only good thing about this building is the neighbors which are all well educated and understanding people and it is easy to go on foot to UM medical campus which made me stay there for a year and put up with these horrifying situation going on in that building)”
“Completely ridiculous place. The building has been under construction for years on end now. You can hear the noises every day through the walls, whether they are working on the perpetually non functioning elevators or whatever. Every month they put up signs like 'Please pardon the noise this month' as if there hasn't been constant noise throughout the day for years on end. Completely ridiculous. Do not recommend anyone live here.”
— 1400 NW 10TH AVE · MIAMI“I just moved out of this place, and it is horrendous. Problems are as follows [but not limited to]: 1. Manager is not responsive to any complaints in general. The old manager when I first came in, some african american lady, was very helpful and courteous. The new one is not. 2. Cockroaches everywhere. Whatever they spray doesn't work. You will see atleast 6-7 cockroaches every day, with likely atleast 50 more that you don't see. 3. Almost daily hammering and construction noises throughout the day. It seems like someone is hammering somewhere in the building every day for hours on end. The sound travels through to your room even if the hammering is several doors down or on different floors. You cannot concentrate or study because of this. 4. Elevators haven't worked since I got here. Every f--king week, a different elevator is out of service. Be prepared to wait for the elevators unless you only need them before 7 am or after 7 pm. 5. Bathtub and sink drains drain slowly. Once the maintenance show up and fix it, after another 1 week, it's clogged again even when using strainers. 6. Entire building is dirty and old. This is inside the apartments, the hallways, the stairways, etc. They "renovated" the lobby which was done in an incompetent manner. They didn't even think to put a finish on the wood, and it's now all scratched up. Whoever designed the "renovation" should be fired for incompetence. I have no formal training in construction but even I know where they screwed up. The "new" elevators break down every week, same as the old elevators. 7. Think of a problem yourself, it probably exists in this building.”
— 1400 NW 10TH AVE · MIAMI“It is the worst housing in Miami and even in the world. A lot of pets in the apartments. Old apartments. Dirty places. THE MANAGER (A BAD -------- LADY) IS VERY DISRESPECTFUL, STEALS MONEY TO HER POCKET, NEVER SMILES, NEVER LISTENS TO THE CLIENTS, ALL HER INTEREST IS GETTING MONEY. I totally don't recommend this place. Bad neighborhood, dirty and old apartments, a lot of noise, plenty of insects and the manager gets money for pets control to her pocket but never run any pets control. The people who work there, especially that manager, and the lifeguards who are all mafia and thieves, are the worst people on Earth.”
— 1400 NW 10TH AVE · MIAMI“By far the worst apartment complex I have ever stayed at in my life. I only stayed for a month because of a rotation at the Jackson Hospital that was close by, and that was the only reason I stayed here but I wish I hadn't. This place made it one of the worst months of my life. The whole place is like a sty. It smells absolutely horrible. This is especially true in the elevators. I came this close to vomiting just riding up it for 12 floors. In fact after the 2nd week I just decided to climb the stair 12 floor each way everyday just to avoid that smell. And that is the least of the problems. There are an unbelievable amount of roaches. They are everywhere no matter how much you clean. Even on a higher up floor it doesn't matter. If you make the horrid mistake of staying here make sure you sleep with your mouth closed. I had some crawl on me in my sleep on a regular basis and it was horrifying. They hardly ever spray, and when they do they must use the cheapest stuff possible because it is completely ineffective and the roaches are back the same day. The entire apartment was completely run down as well. There were holes in the walls, rust everywhere, and terrible plumbing. Do yourself a favor and DON'T EVEN CONSIDER STAYING HERE. It was the worst decision I have ever made. On top of all of this, the staff is incredibly rude, the maintenance people just unlock your doors are walk right in after just one quick knock if they need to do something, and the entire staff and management are all incredibly rude and won't even speak to you in english.. Please do yourself a favor and don't stay here. Yes it may be convenient if you are working at the hospital, but trust me it's not worth the proximity. Just pay a little more, or drive a little further everyday if you have to, but don't stay here under any circumstances. YOU WILL REGRET IT.”
— 1400 NW 10TH AVE · MIAMI“There are many positives to living here. For one, the neighbors (at least on the floor I lived on) are all very quiet and respectable. There have been less than 5 times in a year that I even heard them, let alone had a noise issue. The walls are fairly soundproof. Second, the location is favorable for anyone working or going to school at Jackson/UM. The parking garage has never been full, though it is not only for residents and not attached to the building. Third, it is very affordable, under $800 which is about as cheap as you'll find in the area for a one bedroom. It is also fairly safe inside the building and I have seen no issues. However, all of this doesn't make up for a huge flaw which is why I'm moving out- the roaches. As with all the reviews on here (except for one person who somehow claims they never saw more than one roach), there is a huge roach problem. They are everywhere. I've had to kill 20-30 roaches every day, have to rewash every dish before I use it because there are roaches crawling around them on the drying rack. I've woken up in middle of the night with roaches on my face and have had several roach bites. They are in every room and in every crevice. I've found families of them living in every imaginable place- microwave, oven, fridge (they die in there) and also places where there is no food to be found- modem, printer, couch, bed, closets, etc. I've opted for the pest control service where they come and spray once a week, have traps and boric acid around my apartment and constantly clean and leave no food out, but the number of roaches continue to increase. There are other minor issues like elevators being out of order (or in the case of last December when people were actually injured when one fell 8 floors), some weird smells through the building, fire alarms going off at all hours of the day/night (2 hours at 5am once), the general aesthetics being pretty ugly, but those problems you may find in any building. I hate to give up such an affordable place with great neighbors and staff (sans the manager- she has many problems with constant lying and her issues have been documented with other reviews that I'll attest to), but it's simply not worth the agony of living with an infestation. If you choose to live here I hope you get the magical unit that somebody here claims is "roach free." Oh, one last thing- they LOVE to paint here. They put a fresh coat on all the walls every 2-4 months but never looks good. I'm not sure if this is a positive or a negative.”
— 1400 NW 10TH AVE · MIAMI“I lived there some time ago and have moved out. This is a disgusting residential building, with a well-known reputation of "Cockroach Paradise". The hallways of residential floors are 24/7 full of sweet smell of cooking curry and the hallway carprts are unchanged for decades. I suggest to anyone who want decent place to stay: take it as the last resort. Response to reply below: First for famous reputatyion of "Cockroach Paradise" simply ask anyone around especially UM medical school staff who are the most tenant resource. The hallway carpet in residential floor are worn, dirty, and give smell. Take a look yourself. By the way you will thank God if you can get 40-50% of deposit back when you leave no matter how you clean the unit.”
— 1400 NW 10TH AVE · MIAMI“Dominium Tower is very convenient place to live for people that wants to pay very cheap like me and for people that works in Jackson Hospital and spends lots of time at work. Other than that, Dominium tower should be demolished as soon as possible, the building is entirely disgusting, smells horribly, stinks from neiborhood food and the worst scenario is the amount of roaches or cucarachas you can find here. The roaches are all over the place especially in the kitchen, the bathroom and the bedroom. No matter how much you clean the place, the roaches will be here. They come from the dirty people that lives here and from the old building construction, it seems 22% of the roaches in Miami are proliferating in the famous Dominium Tower. According with the literature, place like dominium tower can reproduce one million roaches per day, I personally heard people did research with roaches reproduction and its favourite food/garbage in dominium tower. Also, tests were done with different kinds of furmigators that worked for a short period of time. Most of the people that work here in dominium maintanance completely ignore english language. On the top of everything, you would never like to have the um-pleasure of meeting the manager. Alina Gamboa, the manager, she treats people without any respect speaking spanish with her subordinates so the japaneses, chineses, ------- and africans would not understand what she is talking about and it happened to me several times. She charges money from residents for no reason bossing around and pretending rules did never exist plus you can forget about finding some other manager to complain about it because it doesn't exist either. She uses her little power of being the dominium tower secretary manager by abusing and insulting people in the worst disappointing low level way. Everybody that lives and works in dominium towers comment inside of the elevator that the manager brings personal problems to the office and has the addiction of collecting extra money from people that park in the dominium garage, security deposits from residents that go back to china, rent fees from people that barely speaks the language. If you can avoid this place/person/building as much as you can you would give a great favour to yourself, unless you don't care about plenty of roaches walking in your bed during the night. This is my very sincere description about this place, Im looking forward to go back to my country. My intership in Jackson finished and I would never suggest my friends to live here.”
— 1400 NW 10TH AVE · MIAMI“We are still living here. I am amazed at the negative reviews. We moved in in December of last year. The place was spotless. The staff courteous and responds to our requests. We have no roaches because we leave no food setting around and dump our garbage daily. No one as ever come in without knocking (although according to the lease, they could). It is noisy, but that is to be expected when you are in the center of town. There are no security issues. There are guards during the day and the doors are locked and key carded from dusk to dawn. The price is good (for central Miami)and our building is embedded in the south side of the Medical District with free Trolleys out front and the Metro-Rail station is 2 blocks away.”
— 1400 NW 10TH AVE · MIAMI“I lived in this place for 1.5 years. to make matters simple: they broke into my apt when I was asleep without prior notice, breaking my chain lock they broke into my apt twice while watching TV without notice then never leave a note when they go into your house the place is not maintained, and swarms with cockroaches the staff can not speak english the staff is unproffessional and unhelpful I threatened a law suit, so they allowed me to break my lease. they charged me 400$ for cleaning, which was a major rip off. if you really dont care about your privacy, money or comfort...go live in this dump”
— 1400 NW 10TH AVE · MIAMI“The favorable review below is clearly management and is not even close to true. First off, there is no 24 hour security guard or gated access. The card access to the building is a joke because the west lobby door is left open all day 5 days a week - don't believe me, stop by on any week day. There is only 24 hour patrol on weekends and week days but not week nights. The garage is not attended week nights after about 8:30 or 9:00 (depends on when they want to leave) or at all on weekends so anyone can come and go during those times and car break ins are common and frequent. The roach problem is really bad no matter what you try - even after bombing, sprays, removing trash promptly and washing dishes promptly, they still are all over and in the bathroom. The hallway smells are horrible and any time I have guest over, the smell of the halls here is a source of jokes to my friends and me. Other ethnic tenants leave their doors open to air their smelly cooking into the hallways and it's a combination of curry, dead fish and who knows what else, combined with management's "air freshener" that smells like cherries - great combo. The noise from the freeway will keep you up or wake you up all the time combined with the ambulances that are a constant. The equipment in the laundry room is never all fully functioning. Typically there will not be enough dryers working for the number of washers, etc. Elevators are constantly out of order and the city required inspection certificates for the elevators have been expired for well over a year and counting. The neighborhood is not safe for any kind of after sun down activity like walking, biking, etc. The roof top pool has a wooden deck in a sad state of repair that will give your feet splinters and there is no pool furniture of any kinds to sit or lie on so you're either in the pool or sunning on a splintered wooden deck. Maintenance has a terrible attitude and will not respond after hours other than to tell you that no a/c is not an emergency. In Miami? Really? The only thing going for this place is the cheap rent but you get what you pay for so do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.”

— 1400 NW 10TH AVE · MIAMI“Dominion tower is located in the heart of the Hospital District. All within a block or two from Dominion one can get to the University of Miami Hospital, Jackson Memorial Hospital and the Veterans Affairs Hospital. To sweeten the proximity advantage, conveniently located behind dominion is the Schroedinger Research Square where the newly operational Miami trolley services has a stop. The trolley comes by every 15 minutes and has a stop in all the Hospitals as well as its surrounding related buildings such as the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Ryder Trauma Center and all other major "stops" pertinent for a resident, fellow or patient. Aside from this free transportation, the University of Miami also provides shuttle services for all its employees that circulates in all points within the Medical campus. Again this is free and is available from 9 AM to 9 PM. But if you are not the commuter type and prefers to ride in your own car, Dominion tower provides all its tenants with 1 slot of complimentary parking in its spacious guarded multi-level parking lot. For zipster who subscribe to the Zipcar car sharing system, Dominion is located a block away from the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Center where 2 zipcars are located. Aside from its strategic location, Dominion tower is equipped with all the amenities that one seeks in a condominium: professional on-site management, 24 hour emergency maintainance, 24 hour security guard, gated access, free water, free sewer and trash removal, free pest control, covered parking, rooftop swimming pool, rooftop sun deck, breathtaking skyline views, units with balconies are available, several on site eateries, central heating and airconditioning, units are cable ready, and there is an onsite laundry facility. I got a 1 bedroom apartment. Its 518 square feet floor plan is quite spacious. It came with a refrigerator and an oven. Its lease price of $745/month for 1 year is a fair price. I contacted CORT furniture rental company to furnish the place. I got the student package which costs $100/month. This deal includes a living room set, a dining room set and a bedroom set. Having set up my accommodations to look decent my 1 year of training in the University of Miami seemed to be more pleasant than daunting. To put icing on top: I bought a 32 inch LCD TV and got comcast's xfinity package. Now I have a high speed internet and a 32 channel basic cable connection. My only complaint is that the property manager's office does not accept mail packages that does not fit your mail box. This can easily be solved though by coordinating with UPS when they can deliver your packages. A lot of reviews have complained about cockroaches. Yes, there are roaches but I think the monthly visit of the pest control guys have minimized this pestilence. As long as you do not immediately throw your garbage with discarded food, you should expect this roaches to be around. Since I started throwing my trash immediately I have noted the disappearance of the small roaches that I occasionally saw. Another issue is the smell that one encounters in the hallway. I live in a floor with a lot of Asians hence, the aroma of their home cooked dishes fill the hallway with the smell of spices. I actually like Asian food hence, for me this is not a problem. Air fresheners within my unit have adequately controlled any stray smell of these aroma. Lastly, the studio beside my unit occasionally reveals the sound of cabinets closing. I think this only happens when the tenant accidentally banged it closed. From the dining area which is closest the unit's door I could hear my neighbor opening and closing his door. Aside from these noises though, it is an otherwise peaceful and silent place to live in.”
— 1400 NW 10TH AVE · MIAMI“BED BUGS COCKROACH SMELLY BUILDING. IT COMES WITH A RUDE, INEFFICIENT MANAGER WHO THINKS SHE OWNS THE BUILDING. IF YOU ARE EXPECTING MANY IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS THROUGH FEDEX OR USPS ADDRESSED TO YOUR APARTMENT, BETTER LOOK FOR A CHEAP PLACE WHERE THE MANAGER IS READY TO ACCEPT YOUR PACKAGES. THERE IS A FREE PARKING, BUT YOUR CAR WILL BE OPENED VERY OFTEN - SO DONT BE SURPRISED IF YOU DONT FIND THE CAR WHERE YOU HAVE PARKED - KEEP FULL INSURANCE FOR YOUR CAR.”
— 1400 NW 10TH AVE · MIAMI“I have been living in this place only because its close to campusand i am so moving out . At least Ms Fountain was a good manager who was always approachable but the preset property manager is rude and and inefficient. she doesn't even hear / resolve any issues the tenants have. This place is infested with bed bugs and roche, the bath tub gets clogged very often, A/C fails, power and water is turned off during evening time without prior notice, mentainence crew enter apartments with out notice and do not inform the tenants about it, and the managements take no steps to resovle these issues. Its not safe place to live as the door down stairs is left open most of the time and the security is no where to be seen. Overall this is a hell to live in.”
— 1400 NW 10TH AVE · MIAMI“Okay, so let me tell you the real deal. Many of the posters here have posted valid points. 1. Roaches. Yes, there are roaches, but there is a roach problem everywhere in Miami. Even with new buildings on lower stories especially. We boric acid our entire apartment and I've been living here for 2 years and haven't seen a roach. We take out our trash every night, and we clean up the kitchen and sink after cooking. Bathroom trash is regularly taken out. Nothing sweet left around. You do these simple things, and you wont see a roach. Promise. 2. Maintenance. Super fast and effective. Now if you treat the maintenance workers like crap because you have some alter-ego, that's your problem. They wont be so helpful then, but I'm not sure you would either if someone gave you an attitude. 3. Rent - for its location, the price is pretty awesome. Great for anyone working or studying at the UM/Jackson medical campus. You WALK to work, because the building is on the campus. Daycare downstairs, which is great if you have little tots and you have to work on campus. Also accessible to some courthouses and law offices in the area as well. 4. Safety - its not really an issue. When the economy started dipping, there were some break ins into the cars in the garage (happened to a lot of places in Miami in fact), and now they have security scanning the place more regularly. Homeless people were an issue as they wandered into the building sometimes, even looking for a quiet place to sleep in the hallways. There are cameras now, and routine checks in the halls - so that problem is over as well. Security is much better now. 5. Space - some of the apartments are pretty spacious. For the square footage you're getting, its much cheaper than renting elsewhere. 6. Smells - sometimes the hallways smell because of all the Indian and Oriental cooking that goes on - the building is very ethnic, which to me is a plus. The smell can be a turnoff for some people. 7. A number of offices in the building, so its not entirely apartments. Your neighbors are all doctors, medical students, or researchers. Fair enough to say that you should make friends with your neighbors. You never know when you're going to croack.”
— 1400 NW 10TH AVE · MIAMI“I have lived here for two years and it's time to leave. The apartment is spacious, very quiet (the walls are made of concrete), close to the hospital, and parking comes with the rent. Unfortunately, at more than $1000 for a one-bedroom, the cost is entirely too high for the area. There are constant frustrations with the laundry facility, occasional bugs, and broken elevators---we only have two in our 20-story building. Management is quick to jump on problems, but usually requires multiple attempts to correct problems. The current manager lives in the building and very much tries to make sure everything runs smoothly. But given the location and amenities, the cost for a one-bedroom really should be $700. The good: Pool on the roof Modernized laundry facility (new machines as of one month ago) Ample parking Quiet if facing the hospital The bad: Loud if facing 836 Constant problems with the trash chute No recycling The prices: 1Br/1 Ba ~ $1000 2Br/1 Ba ~ $1200 (What the heck!)”
