“The room overall is pretty good, although expensive. We had termites under our floorboards once, but they fixed it very quickly. Always very fast (50% of time same day service) in responding to work orders. Amenities are very nice, and now include a rooftop lounge area. Only downside is the leasing management are often quite unhelpful and dismissive. We were looking for an apartment starting in september 2018, and were #4 on the waitlist, but we never received a call. We called them 3 times to ask why other people were getting apartments before us, and they just brushed it off. It turned out to be because all openings were for late august. If they had just told us this when we asked, we would have gotten the apartment layout we wanted, but instead we were stuck with the master bed / tiny bedroom layout.”

The first thing was when I moved in. Place was crawling in ants in just about every corner of the house. We dealt with it for a month but couldn't take it anymore. You would think they would realize that the building had a bug problem and fix it before people started living here. It got to the point where I would wake up at night because there was an ant on my face. Second was all the doors in my apartment. None of them were on straight and the locks needed to be fixed when our keys they gave us couldn't even open our own doors. Even the refrigerator door was cheap. It completely snapped off a month into use. And now this time they towed my car in the middle of the night. I woke up this morning rushing to work to find it gone. Initially they told me when I signed the contract that management don't tow and only residents can tow out of their own spot. So with that in mind, I let my guest (my parents) take my spot last night and parked in an empty space that's never had a resident assigned to it for the two months that I've been here. THEN I left a note saying if it is someone's spot, call me and I'll move it asap with my number. But nope, woke up this morning finding out that the manager and security guard towed it in the middle of the night without giving me a call or even saying someone needed that space. And on top of that, I have a parking pass they gave me to hang on my car that was ON MY CAR. So I'm thinking, wow this is how they treat their residents? What kind of a logical human being would do that without even giving their resident the courtesy of a phone call? Save yourself the trouble and don't bother with this place. I can't wait till my lease is up. Besides, there's two steep hills between this place and campus and the rooms are tiny, while prices are super high.”
— 11050 STRATHMORE DR · Westwood“Look, this place is okay, but don't expect too much. They fix things quickly, and everything works alright for the most part. I still do have a few problems, however. For one, you can practically hear people breathing through these thin walls - well, mostly the apartments doors are incredibly thin. I can hear my neighbor whispering when they enter their apartment, and you can hear anyone's tv on as you walk by their apartment because the doors are apparently made of rice paper. I also hear my neighbors walking above me all the time, as well as their sexual routines - not something included in my lease contract. The pool is pretty dirty. I mean, am I going to contract an STD next time I go for a midday swim? Oh and by the way, this place has an internet connection that you'd expect to get from a Mumbai brothel.”
— 11050 STRATHMORE DR · Westwood“I spent two years living here and the woman who runs the apartment Is one of the nicest ladies I've ever met in LA. I came to LA not knowing anyone...and just chose to live in Westwood because there was a college campus near by...and the land lady was so kind and the living situation was great. (Small apartments, but I felt like I was living at a cool European hotel...with a nice swimming pool in the center of the apartment...I would go out and eat dinner over looking the pool! It was awesome!) Clean, well kept, nice neighbors. Couldn't be a warmer, nicer, more lovely living situation. Best first two years in LA. I would highly recommend it.”
— 11050 STRATHMORE DR · Westwood“Don't believe these people, they told me sth and did differently after the contract signed. They clearly told me because of short term lease and corporate lease all utility would be included including gas and electricity. And even they included this in the "reservation form" (but not the contract) and then they easily denied EVERYTHING!!! More than the money I should pay I am sooo upset with them just clearly lie to my face!Aghhh!!”
— 11050 STRATHMORE DR · Westwood“This apartment complex is fairly pricey, but I guess it's mainly because of the location near the UCLA campus. Parking is generally not a problem. You get two spots for a one-bedroom apartment in a gated underground lot, which I think is a pretty good deal. However, the gate is often broken, but I haven't had any problems with thefts or anything. The worst thing about this apartment is the noise. Because of its close proximity to UCLA, there are a LOT of college students. I've noticed that since I moved here, a lot of my neighbors who were professionals have moved out and been replaced with more college students. Also, because the rents are pretty high, there are usually several students to one apartment. If you can't tolerate noise, I do not recommend living here. People are up at all hours of the day, talking, partying, playing loud music, shouting, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. It's like a dorm here. While I agree the walls are pretty thick, the doors (the front door and the patio door) are not, so noise generally travels through there. Moreover, because every apartment has a patio, you can hear anyone who is talking/partying on a patio near yours. Management will warn the noisy residents (usually in the monthly newsletters), but mostly they turn a blind eye and don't do much beyond that. The bottom line is that this is NOT a quiet building, despite what the other reviewers had to say. I've lived in many other apartments, and this apartment is the noisiest one BY FAR. Not only that, if you live on any floor but the top floor, you get the joy of hearing your stomping neighbors upstairs. The walls here may be thick, but the ceilings sure are not. I can hear my upstairs neighbor whenever they are home, slamming doors and stomping around at all hours of the day. Because of this, I will never again live anywhere but the top floor. The grounds are fairly well-kept. Nothing much to be said here. The neighborhood is pretty safe. The building is secured as well, and all entry doors require an electronic key fob for entry. However, a lot of the times the doors are propped open, so it completely defeats the purpose. The building isn't too shabby. It's not a vintage building, but neither is it of new construction. The first floor hallways always smell like pet urine, even though there is a no-pet policy here. There is central AC and heating, which is a plus. There's also a gym, pool, and a jacuzzi, which are always crowded. There are laundry machines on every floor, but they are often packed on the weekends. And students here are quite inconsiderate: twice in the past, my clothes have been taken out of the dryer before they have finished drying, so that the person can dry their clothes on my dime. Another thing about the patio doors is that they are NOT well-insulated. Not only does noise travel through these doors, so does smoke. When you live in an apartment full of students who like to experiment smoking different substances, you do NOT want to have a patio door like the one they have here. It is worthless at blocking out smoke, and your apartment ends up reeking of whatever your neighbor is experimenting with at the moment. Maintenance is the only thing I can say is great. If you have any problem with your apartment, they usually get to it right away. However, during the summer months, when the students are all gone, there is construction at all hours of the day, which is pretty annoying if you're trying to get some sleep. The management and staff are generally nice and fairly responsive to any problems you may have, although they do get visibly impatient. The office always closes early, even though it's supposed to close at 5 pm. For those people like me who work all day, I can never get in touch with the office unless I call. Although the one perk here is that management does sign in your packages and place them in a secure room from which you can retrieve them. Overall, the building itself is nice. However, I would recommend against living here because of the ridiculous noise, air quality issues, and the many inconsiderate things that college students tend to do. That's why I'm moving out as soon as my lease is up. I hate it here. If, however, you're a college student, this might be the place to be.”
— 11050 STRATHMORE DR · Westwood“The apt is very nice a little pricy but it is LA. The staff is horrible!! Anthony was the nicest guy but unfortunatly moved on to better things. The manager Jennifer and her staff are horrible.Ever since she has become the manager this place has gone down hill. They are beyond rude. If I had a friend moving in I would tell them not to. The mantance has been horrible as well. Everything is dirty and the pool and laundry room is always locked on weekends.. I personally feel you could find a way better place then Strahmore Regency.”
— 11050 STRATHMORE DR · Westwood“The management here is HORRIBLE. They will promise you anything to get you to sign the lease, but God help you if you ever need help with a problem. The management blames everything on the maintenance people, most of which who speak no English, and the maintenance people shrug and tell you to take it up with the management. While residents get garage parking, due to the student population near UCLA you can never have guests -- they have nowhere to park. Pool is microscopic and never used. Noisy. Terrible.”
— 11050 STRATHMORE DR · Westwood“I lived here from 2006-2007 and had a good experience. We had a large apartment in the corner of the floor, but the price was a hefty amount, even with roommates. The floor was always quiet; I rarely ever saw people in the hallways. The business rooms were great to study in and type on the computers or meet with a group. In the few times we ever had to call for maintenance I thought that the staff was great and cordial. There is ample parking available. Each apartment gets 2 spots and you can purchase an additional parking space every month as well. I did not like that the upper garage gate was always open during the day while the maintenance people worked on cutting up wood and doing projects. There were some nights where lower garage door remained open as well, which made me uneasy because anyone could get in. Even though there were security cameras, my car was still broken into. They hired a night cop to patrol the building afterwards, which shows the management s good response to tenant complaints in this matter. There are some security cameras in the halls as well, which boosts security. Good building, great water pressure, nice amenities, expensive cost, but a good place!”
— 11050 STRATHMORE DR · Westwood“I've been living at Strathmore Regency for about 2 years now and I can truly say that the management team is awesome. They know what they're doing. I love the monthly newsletters posted in the elevators. It's a good way of telling you what's happening in your apt community. As for construction, I believe all the big projects are pretty much done. We have new study lounges on every floor which is great for all the UCLA students around. It's not too long of a walk to/from campus (about 10-15 min) Maintenance staff is amazing. My requests are usually handled the day of. The apartment complex in general is kept clean and smelling good. Noise levels are usually kept under control. My only complaint is that the main elevator is unreliable. It doesn't work when you need it to and it's SLOW. I recommend using the side elevators. And...the pool is not heated and sometimes dirty. Other than that, security is great. The garage is safe. If you can afford it, go for it.”
— 11050 STRATHMORE DR · Westwood“This building sucks! Ongoing remodeling for more than 9months; never ending repairs, increasing noise level "f... you, this is my territory, you drug dealer", mail lost in trash and office, leeking sewage pipes in the parking spots (although just repaired), fire alarm in the middle of the nights, elevator broken, amenities close frequently or are over used, lights at side entrances are broken for more than 6 months, enjoy the BBQ and set yourself on fire, the drains are blocked again although sewage pipes were just flushed, and to top it all: increasing leases by more than 10% !!!

In conclusion:
Nice looks, but no character!
The management is completely incabable of hitting deadlines, which are posted in the elevators. Check it out by yourself!!!”

— 11050 STRATHMORE DR · Westwood“i lived at strathmore regency while i was a 3rd/4th year student at UCLA. i loved it so much during those two years... until i had to deal with the management over financial matters.

PROS:
1) best looking apartment building in westwood, both inside and out. your friends will be jealous; your parents will be pleased with the security and the location. also known as "the hotel" on the hill.

2) parking is secure, well-lit, and easily accessible. you need a garage door opener to get INTO the garage, and a building key to get OUT OF the garage into the elevator. it is limited in the sense that there's only ONE space if you rent a one-bedroom, only TWO if you rent a two-bedroom. there are a lot of residents without cars, so you will probably be able to rent an extra space. if you are worried about your car, buy an extra space. parking in westwood is even more limited.

3) maintenance is extremely prompt and friendly. if you need service, they will usually fix it same day or the day after. there is also a 24 hr emergency line.

4) DOUBLE SOUNDPROOFED WALLS. i capitalize this because it is so important. i lived on the second and fourth floors: i couldn't hear people walking around, furniture being moved, or loud music. the only time i ever heard noise from apartments was when i'd walk PAST someone's room and hear music or the tv. that was it. my roommates and i would have parties with 30 people, smokers on the balcony, we even played DRUMS in the middle of the night (with the windows closed), and no one said anything.

5) laundry rooms on every floor. a change machine in the gym. no more searching for quarters! each floor has 3 washers and 3 dryers. the 1st and 2nd floor laundry rooms are open 24 hours, and were usually empty. i did laundry at all hours of the day - noon, midnight, 6am, 7pm, and i hardly ever saw anyone. one time i forgot and left my laundry in the washer, and 3 days later my clothes were dried and neatly folded. there's also a huge commercial dryer on P1 if you need to wash blankets or pillows or extra large items.

6) pool/jacuzzi. no one's ever there either. it's kind of relaxing.

7) gym with TV, soda machine, bathroom, change machine.

8) recycling dumpsters. trash chutes on every floor.

9) new appliances/carpet every time a new resident moves in. i changed apts after one year and got a brand new whirlpool dishwasher, fridge, microwave, oven, faucet with detachable spray-hose, re-tiled bathrooms, new sinks, and a wet bar.

10) there are interesting "attractions" on every floor:
P2: parking
P1: parking / giant commercial washer dryer
1: mailboxes, pool, jacuzzi, gym, soda machine, change machine, bathroom, 24hr washers dryers
2: 24hr washer dryer.
3: "business center" w/ 2 computers, 2 printers, and supposedly a fax machine, though i haven't seen one yet.
4: 24 inch flatscreen TV, 2 couches, bookshelves and all the magazines and books you'd ever want.

CONS:
management has gone downhill since 2 years ago. the general manager resigned and two other women took her place. these two women, one a manager, the other a resident secretary?, are catty and will take you for every penny you've got. the secretary says she found a broken mirror in my apartment but refused to show it to me, or take pictures of the damage. her proof was a testimony from the maintenance guy in spanish, which i do not understand, and which the manager did not hear. since i did not have any pictures, the manager refused to believe me when i said i was cleaning from 9-5 during the last day of our move out and that it was virtually impossible for them to have found a broken mirror that same day when the office closed right after i left.

to all potential tenants...beware! the management will take your security deposit as soon as they get the chance. take pictures upon move out, and record the dates as you go along. i could have bought them 10 mirrors for $350.

all in all, good apartment if you're not moving south of wilshire.”
— 11050 STRATHMORE DR · Westwood“I've only been here a month, so I may not know all the problems yet, but the previous review seems a little harsh to me.

About being locked out of your apartment, I agree that is a potential problem. To elaborate for everyone else- the doors lock automatically behind you. While that is usually convenient, it's not if you forget your keys. It's nice there's a number you can call 24/7 (I didn't know that) but it seems like they should also provide a phone on some floor to call from. Assuming there isn't one.

Regarding the view. The view on 50% of the building hasn't changed at all. And on the UCLA housing side, it's not that bad. I'd rather look out on brand-new spanish-style housing than some scummy old buildings. But if the view is important to you, then yeah you should get a 4th floor.

Regarding the pool/spa being closed at 10pm. Thank GOD for that. Some of us have to work you know. While you're whooping it up in the pool you're potentially keeping up all the people in the 30(?) some apts that face the pool.

Which brings me to my last point. The reason I moved here was that it was one of only 2 places in all the apartment magazines that advertised as having soundproof walls. And the other place was a dump. While the walls are not literally soundproof there is clearly some serious muffling going on. You will hear occasional hall noise or pool noise if you face the pool, but thankfully that is extremely rare. It is VERY quiet compared to your typical apartment.

As a bonus, the internal A/C is great. All the appliances (stove, fridge, dishwasher, microwave) seem nearly new. It's convenient to be within 5-15 mins walking distance of anywhere in Westwood Village.”
— 11050 STRATHMORE DR · Westwood“The top floor apartments are nice, but the view was ruined with the recent construction of UCLA housing to the south of the building.

Although the managers live on-site, they refuse to help you after hours. If you have a problem after regular business hours, you are forced to call a hotline, at which you will speak to a very inept dispatcher who will not help you. I locked myself out of my apartment one night, and had the unfortunate experience of having to call this hotline. The dispatcher told me she had called a locksmith and that the locksmith would be there in 20 minutes--to make a long story short, the locksmith never showed up, so I was forced to call my own, and didn't get into my apartment until 5:30AM!!! Totally ridiculous when you consider that the managers live in the building!--What are they there for if they won't help?

The pool and jacuuzi are off-limits after 10:00PM, and are not cleaned as often as they should be.

And by the way, they raised my rent twice with a year!
”
