“This place used to be a wonderful place to live: clean, safe, secure, friendly, etc. It has recently come under new ownership/management. As soon as I can get enough money to move, I will be doing so ASAP. Every interaction with the new managers has felt hostile. The place is neglected, severely now. Access doors are broken or left open all over the property, so there is no more controlled access. Two washing machines were left, broken, flooded with filthy water, for weeks (just as an example). To top it all off, they are doing this very invasive construction/makeover. All of the beautiful plants, flowers, and trees were removed, probably to make room for the scaffolding that has been surrounding the building, for months. This used to be a wonderful place to live. Do not recommend it now. Stay away.”
— 1260 VETERAN AVE · LOS ANGELES“After an exhaustive apartment search where I saw places that looked nothing like they were described or where the apartment managers didn't care enough to even keep an appointment, I found the Veteran Apartments. The building is well cared for, with upgraded flooring, lighting, bathrooms, kitchens and counters. The Property Manager, Natella, is quick to listen to concerns and provide solutions. Any issue I've had in the apartment have been acknowledged by Natella and addressed by maintenance within 24 hours. I have seen some negative posts here but in my experience, Natella cares about the building as if she was the owner and she cares about the tenants as if they were her friends. I would recommend the apartments to anyone who desires a management company that will listen to their needs and follow through to the best of their ability to meet them.”

— 1260 VETERAN AVE · LOS ANGELES“I've been a resident in the building for the last 2 years and now I am moving out completing my MBA and going back to Europe. I never have had any problems with the management. Very few maintenance issues that I had were taken care of the same day they were reported. I would recommend the building to any student who is looking for a nice and quiet place to live and study.”
— 1260 VETERAN AVE · LOS ANGELES“I have lived in this apartment building since April 2006. I lived on every floor of this three story building. I first had a studio on the second floor that had a balcony that overlooked the swimming pool. After a year and a half I moved to a third floor Studio Loft. It wasn't bad. But I needed to find a quieter unit. So after ten months of loft living I settled on a one bedroom first floor unit. The building's location is perfect for me because I work two blocks away. The supermarkets, movies theaters, restaurants, fitness center and other amenities are within walking distance. I walk just about everywhere. My car does not get driven much. The other thing that makes this place great is the Management. Natella and Marcia are always there when you need them. The building maintenance person (Alex) is a jack of all trades. The management team is very responsive and friendly. The downside of living here is apartment life in general. The walls can be somewhat paper thin and you can hear conversations in the open air hallway and pool area. Overall I like living here. I would definitely recommend this place.”
— 1260 VETERAN AVE · LOS ANGELES“Nice, always accommodating and friendly staff. The rent is high but it is Westwood's prime location. I work next door which allows me to walk to my work place and believe me it saves a big $. I have been here for almost a year and planning to renew for another 6 month.”
— 1260 VETERAN AVE · LOS ANGELES“I lived at this property for 2 years. I moved in right when the new owners took over. I had hardwood and slate floors and granite counter tops; a balcony and a loft. Very unique units with a lot of character. I liked the unit very much. I had nice neighbors too. The area is great. Close to the freeway and shopping (like I need another excuse to shop!). Management was helpful and friendly to me. They handled a very sensitive issue that I had with a fellow resident. I enjoyed my stay there.

BUT! The parking area could have used a coat of paint and there were some residents that allowed their dogs to defecate around the building without cleaning up after them. Yuck!!
”
— 1260 VETERAN AVE · LOS ANGELES“property is safe, save for the tenants that leave doors open to the building as if this were some kind of dormatory.

you may consider this place because they accept dogs. bear in mind alot of people do not properly train their animals before thinking of bringing yours here.

finally, female property magager is combative, rude, and bullies tenants. she's great to take your money, but the moment you file a complaint or have anything that needs to be addressed she becomes extremely hostile. property managers speak volumes to me about a management company. given her attitude towards myself and numerous other tenants ( both currently residing and those fortunate enough to have gotten away), you can be sure i'll never look for another property managed by this company again.”
— 1260 VETERAN AVE · LOS ANGELES“Still a current tenant since 2005. It is an ok property. The management is helpful. Very convin. location. Some problems happen here and there but the management take care of them shortly. They accept from 3-12 month lease which is very convinient. The rent is overpriced but what can you do-it is Westwood!”
— 1260 VETERAN AVE · LOS ANGELES“Once upon a time, there was an apartment building located in a wonderful neighborhood. A tenant new to LA moved in. We will call her "The ever sleepless tenant." Two months later, the building was taken over by a management company. The tyrannical management company ordered their now on hand construction staff to redo every apartment that became vacant with hardwood floors so that they could "up" their prices and rent mediocre apartments to unsuspecting tenants. Not only do they seek to screw new tenants, but to compensate for all the construction, they have raised rent on current tenants twice within the last 9 months. Hardwood floors sure are pretty, but unfortunately, they do not sound pretty through paper thin ceilings and walls. The noise from "the ever sleepless tenant's" upstairs neighbor merely tiptoeing accross her hardwood floors reminded "the ever sleepless tenant" of a herd of tapdancers doing the New York Shuffle accross the ceiling. Not only was the "ever sleepless tenant" not getting any shut eye at night, but the early bird construction company begins work at 7:00 in the morning, despite the notices in the elevator that promise the excessive hammering, sanding, pounding, and erection of what must be a very large artifice that would warrant such noise, will not start until 8. I am sure that the students and people who do not work 9-5 jobs really appreciate this. Not only can they not sleep in after pulling double shifts to pay the ginormous rent prices, but they cant nap or study during the day because the noise is never- ending. The noise was not the only result of the construction...also the water sometimes comes out of the faucet in a dazzling rust color, and the inadequate structure of the old building has caused rain damage that has ruined tenant property, with no apologies from management. "The ever sleepless tenant" prayed to her fairy landlord for the noise to stop or at least start later. But alas, the construction noise has no end in site, because in order for it to end, every last unit must be redone...a project that has been in progress for close to a year now. The building is safe, and it is in a prime location, however, some people like to live out their days in peace with only minor maintenence. They also like to pay rent on an apartment that is worth the exorbitant and due to increase price.

The only redeeming thing about this was that they kept the assistant manager, who is nice and takes the tenants seriously. Alas, this was not enough to keep the "ever sleepless tenant" in the building, and in search of sleep, the weary heroine of this tale left the building in search of a quieter land.”
— 1260 VETERAN AVE · LOS ANGELES“This buildingis in a great location, but the apartment is poorly maintained: garage often has pools of leaked water, the elevator hasn't worked properly ever, the laundry room is a disgrace. Additionally, the quality of the apartments is so bad that when my next door neighbor smokes, I can breath his smoke with ALL MY WINDOWS AND DOORS CLOSED. The walls are so thin that I can hear my neighbor's conversations (and any other 'vigorous activity') as if I were in the room with him. The resident manager is a very kind man and I haven't had any trouble getting things repaired in a timely manner, but the apartment building really is not on par with the rents.”
— 1260 VETERAN AVE · LOS ANGELES“The apartment is close to 405 freeway and Westwood. It is great that it accepts 3 and 6 month leases. The manage has been great and really helpful but our unit requires A LOT of repairs. Although the unit has recently been upgraded but it was poorly done. It is an old apartment with cheap upgrades. The apartment is doing a lot of upgrades so it is very noisy and has a lot of foot traffic during the day. It is on Veteran Avenue so there are a lot of street noises.”
— 1260 VETERAN AVE · LOS ANGELES“I lived in 1260 Veteran from July 1995 to June 1996. Apparently, the management and owners rent the units out on a month to month basis. This place was like a half-way house, full of transient visitors from all over the globe. Nobody cared about noise or cigarette smoke. It was so loud at all hours of the night that I had to sleep in my parents house 1/2 hour away. Imagine, I am paying $1100 per month (that's a lot of money for 1995) to sleep elsewhere. The owners and management needed immediate replacement. Although the building was only somewhat disgusting, it was still livable. I strongly recommend renting anywhere else. Good luck!!

Norm”
— 1260 VETERAN AVE · LOS ANGELES“This place has been by far the most disgusting place that I have lived in. It is smelly, there is mildew everywhere and the management sucks. They are completely helpless, unorganized and incapable. The refrigerator in my apartment has been down for the past 2 months and no one bothers to come replace it after 5 notices. Rain has come into my closet and molded all my clothes and sheets but all that management says is that it is my problem. The place has been a construction area for the past months. It is noisy and dusty. This place really sucks; it is not worth a single penny. Reconsider living in this complex. It’s a ---- hole!!!!”
— 1260 VETERAN AVE · LOS ANGELES“I have been there for only four months and I regret my one-year lease. The apartment is horrible, the first water that comes out is dark yellow and the conditions in the building are the worst possible. It is in a very nice location, but it is not worthy. The first rain in LA the building leaked in all apartments. My door expanded with the leakage and did not open for two weeks. The garage 1 had leaks coming out from everywhere and even though it accepts animals, they do not clean enough to have animals there; my dog got sick in the first days. The management never answers you promptly and is helpless; I had to deal with my door for two weeks after three requests. They just raised their rent. i wonder who is going to rent that piece of ----. Good luck to you new tenants...you will be as surprised as I was.”
— 1260 VETERAN AVE · LOS ANGELES“To be fair, I'll start with the major positive of this apartment: it's in a great location--close to UCLA bus and Westwood Village. The apts. have nice, high ceilings. But the building is old and needs major repairs. They charge top rent prices, but do not maintain the building very well. Water leaks from various spots in the ceiling of the parking garage. The elevator was remodeled with cheap, tacky materials. The maintenance guy tries to talk you out of repairing things in your apt, saying you don't need them anyway. My apt. did not have a dishwasher--the kitchen sink was smelly and old. The fridge was from at least forty years ago. It needed to be defrosted regularly. The bathroom had an old toilet, sink, and tub--full of rust and mildew. They didn't bother to replace the carpet before I moved in--it had tears and worn spots. When they posted notices about building-wide repairs or maintenance projects, it took days longer than promised. Someone wrote "Liar" on their post after the elevator had been out two days longer than promised. Another person posted a sign on the manager's door begging them to refill the gas tank for the grill. After several weeks of my window blinds repeatedly falling down, I discovered that they had been stuck up there with tape. I think their major problem is that they are trying to make a profit on this building at the expense of the residents. They figure they can always attract people b/c of the location. Don't get sucked in! Lots of apts in this area. Look around!!”
