“dont stay here ever!! they dont care about you or anything or anyone, this building is not safe, there are break ins and robberies all the time and nobody from security or management cares, this building is not safe. the staff are crooks and liars. move out or dont move in. a lot of suspicious activity occurs here and it is all swept under the rug. dont be fooled by the "security system" it looks safe from the outside but there are many flaws, its a very shady place dont stay here please! my friend stayed here and was happy for a while even though they were paying $2500.00 a month but they justified the cost because of the security. the management changed the locks on the doors to this electronic lock system and one day when we came back my friends door was wide open and thousands of dollars worth of property was stolen. when they asked for a lock interrogation since it is an electronic lock you can see a log of who's been in and out, so suspicious that during the time that they were robbed the log was blank and wiped clean. the security team could not give a damn, they said my friend would be lucky if the police showed up at all..how comforting to say during such a horrible time. their lack of interest and willingness to help raised many suspicions the worst part of it all is that they tried to blame a friend who was at work the day this happened. honestly someone on the security team was part of this robbery. dont trust ---- the security man or that ------ lady in the leasing office. i wouldn't spend this time to write this if i didn't feel i had a moral obligation to tell everyone how messed up and unsafe this place is. enter at your own risk, but you have been warned.”
— 950 S FLOWER ST · Downtown“I have lived at the Met for about 14 months and my lease is just about ready to expire. I can honestly say that I am ecstatic to be leaving this place :) The amentities are great (which is why I decided to move here in the first place) but over time I came to the conclusion they are not always functioning correctly. The hot tubs were broken for 3 months, the air conditioner in the gym was broken for a few months, the elevators are almost always broken! It just has been a little inconvenient. Staff There are a few people at the front desk that are friendly. When I first started ----- was amazing but after being taken over by new mangement he decided to leave. Our new manager, ---- came and about half of our staff disappeared and were replaced with rude, extremely mean people. The overall feel of this place has definitely changed. The only guy at the front desk that is friendly is -----. -------- in the leasing office is very condescending and not helpful at all. She seems very friendly but when you have a complaint she is not willing to listen to your concerns. ---- is actually pretty cool but it's a little awkward talking to him because he always seems like he is on some kind of a drug. Overall, my day is a lot better when ----- is at the front desk, if not I never expect to be greeted or even helped into the door. very sad. Last thing, the trash on the 11 floor (unsure if this is true for all other floors) is NEVER taken out. Our hallway always smell like trash and when we complain, they say they will clean it and never do. I had family visiting one weekend and the smell was just embarrassing. I seriously had to hold my breathe for about 2 weeks last month before the trash smell was gone. The smell comes and goes but last month was the longest we suffered. The lobby also smells like trash and they try to hide it by burning oils and or candles, which makes it smell even worse. My opinions are honest, take what you want from them. I wouldn't say everything was bad but I definitely won't be renewing my lease, I feel for the amount of rent you pay, staff should treat you with courtesy and respect. It's a huge disrespect to take my money every month (on time for rent) but I have to come home to a smelly hallway and a broken shower (oh I didn't mention my broken shower for 3 months! I constantly complained and no one did anything about it until one day when I was attempting to shower, and it became unbearable, I went downstairs with shampoo still in my hair and had to demand for someone to take a look at it. My service request was ignored for 3 months). Maybe some people had good experiences and that's great, but me I did not and I will not recommend me this place to a pet dog. Cheers!”
“My experience living at the Met was fairly pleasant until we moved out. It's by far the worse experience ever. I thought a bigger apartment building with a management company would have their stuff together, but reality is...they don't!! Luckily, I was good at math to figure out that we were overcharged for our final account. The Met didn't want anything to do with me and pushed to deal with the management company instead. Seems like the Met just adds hidden agendas to your final account without any explanations. I would not recommend anyone to move into this building after my move-out experience.”
— 950 S FLOWER ST · Downtown“I lived there for over 2 years and I can say that the management is horrible. Leasing office first sells me on a lie that I need to sign a 15 month over a 12 mo lease b/c my income isnt sufficient, which it is, but the logic makes absolutely no sense. So, I move out a few months ago after my lease ends. Not only was my deposit taken in full... I had to pay The Met 2k for the following months rent after my lease term b/c i failed to provide them with a 30 day notice. So if I am paying rent for that month then I should be able to use the room right? No... They tell me since I surrendered my keys the room is no longer mine. Horrible experience and would not wish this upon anyone. Lesson learned, check your states laws on tenant rights b/c these corporate companies will get you however they can.”
— 950 S FLOWER ST · Downtown“The management office at The Met is HORRIBLE! They seem to make up rules as they to along and are extremely difficult to work with. They are rude to their residents and offer no assistance whatsoever.”
— 950 S FLOWER ST · Downtown“Wanted to thank the management at the metropolitan on I had a great stay. I was treat very nice buy all the staff at all times? Never had any problems with getting any repairs that might have come up. I was there for a year and would tell my friends if they were looking to move. If I had the opportunity to live in Tacoma again I would move back to the metropolitan”
— 950 S FLOWER ST · Downtown“The apartment has nice amenities and is well located - which makes it tempting to buy into it all. However, several things to warn you about: -The leasing office staff are absolutely incompetent. They lost my rent check once (and, after much hassle and me reissuing a check, "found it"), do not get back to you within two business days (we're talking a week ), and are generally unconcerned with current residents' needs. -Even more appalling is the "Met" in general. Say goodbye to large portions of your deposit. Among many other charges, there is always a $140 cleaning fee they don't mention in the lease. -Be careful when they dangle a referral bonus around - read the tiny print. What should have been $500 was cut in half because my friend signed a 14 instead of 12 month lease. When I just received my check, the people in accounting cut it for $24.67. Maybe it'll only take 3 emails and 2 phone calls this time to get it sorted out.... -While they say parking is secure, they often leave the various gates open. The bike rack is right by both the lobby and parking entrance. Despite a "secure" building, my bike was stolen. They don't bother to put cameras in that section of the structure, though there must be 20 bikes parked there at any given time. I strongly, strongly do NOT recommend this complex. It pretends to offer big-complex benefits but is just as difficult as a smaller, less expensive option and more ropes to jump through to get someone to respond to requests.”
— 950 S FLOWER ST · Downtown“The staff, particularly the leasing management, has the worst customer service I've ever seen. As a guy who works in the hospitality industry, I know all about decent customer service, and these people don't have it. Took 3 1/2 weeks for them fix my air conditioning. This is in the middle of summer, by the way. Pool is always dirty. It's pretty pointless in having it because no one even wants to swim in it. The gym is small, has no air conditioning, and they don't bother restocking the water or paper cups. The washers and dryers on each floor are constantly breaking down. Like, in the middle of the wash, they're breaking down. It's pathetic. And don't get me started on the bed bug problem they have. I'll be here all night. But what makes it all 10 times worse is that the staff here genuinely doesn't care. I'm not talking about the front desk. I'm talking about the leasing management, specifically J.K. and K.V. (this site doesn't allow first and last names - I really wish I could post them though). Avoid these two like the plague. Have you ever been laughed at, to your face, as you're trying to express your concerns over how your air conditioning hasn't been fixed in weeks? And don't forget to give them their precious 30 day notice to vacate when you plan on leaving, which you surely will be doing. (Everyone in my entire corner on our floor has already moved out or is about to. None of us can stand the place.) I didn't even know I had to sign this form, signed it at the 28 day mark instead of the 30 day mark, and they intend on charging me a pro-rated daily rate for those 2 days. This is after they acknowledged that they never told me anything about a 30 day notice. I can't wait to move out. Just do yourself a favor and stay away from this place. There are plenty of other spots downtown to live, especially in South Park or the Sixth/Spring area. Good luck.”

— 950 S FLOWER ST · Downtown“I have lived here for almost 2 years because I am a student at FIDM and it was convenient. I am now graduating and so glad to be moving away after my contract expires next month. Their maintenance is really terrible. It takes about a week and 20 calls for them to actually come and look and something. I had a bird die on my balcony and called about it every day and it took them 2 weeks to get rid of it. I spent countless days calling multiple times for them to tell me that the maintenance team had already left for the day. I also just found a giant cockroach the size of my palm in my kitchen sink. I managed to get it into the sink and turned on the garbage disposal and the sink broke and is now leaking. I called at around 2 this afternoon and they told me that they would be here in about an hour. It is now past 4 and nobody has yet to come. Also when I first moved in my light twitched constantly and it took them a few months to figure out what was wrong with it. The rent also jumped around $100 extra every month. Also whenever I receive packages, they are supposed to notify me, but I never get notified. When I call downstairs to ask if I have a package they just check the packages for that day and say that none have arrived for me and when I ask them to check the back room they hardly ever do. I actually have a lot of problems with my studio apartment but do not want to bother with getting them fixed because it is not worth my time and effort. My doorbell doesnt ring, my oven only works on 400 degrees, the lock on my balcony is broken, and the shelf in my closet collapsed.”
— 950 S FLOWER ST · Downtown“I lived in this apartment with my roomate for 6 months. And it was DEFINITELY not worth the price, it was expensive enough without the extra cost of utilities added on, not to mention an unhelpful staff and constant water/leaking problems all throughout the complex. The Good: It was right across the street from my school, FIDM. I also liked the size of the apartment, it was 2 bed/2 bath and the bedrooms weren't too small and the closets were a decent size. Hmm what else... I guess the pool area was okay? The Bad: Everything else! Seriously, there was quite a lot wrong with our apartment. Firstly we were promised new appliances and everything. Instead we got a tiny fridge, a ------ microwave that you literally had to cook everything 4 times or more as much as instructed to even get it unfrozen, a garbage disposal that clogged and broke multiple times, my sink in my bathroom had a large brownish stain on it, the chain on the toilet unhooked every other day so I had to take off the back lid part and rehook it, and the dryer on our floor had to be used 2-3 times before your clothes were dry, even a small load. My roomate and I ended up using the laundry room on the next floor. One day we started smelling a weird smell in the corner of our apartment, it smelled like something died in the wall. Creepy! Then our entire apartment started to smell, we cleaned the place top to bottom but could never find it. After MANY complaints and maintenance requests, they finally figured out that our garbage disposal was broken which was partially the cause, but also that our dish washer was apparently leaking into the apartment below us. They came and replaced the dish washer and fixed the disposal, but the smell would not go away. I think there might have been mold from the dish washer leaking, but they never figured it out, and would not cooporate with us to move to another apartment or to at least give us a discount from a couple months rent. We had to deal with this horrible mystery smell, it was embarrasing to bring friends over because it smelled like something died. Oh, and also one night I was sitting on my bed and heard a weird dripping/trickling noise, opened up the door hiding the air conditioner to find water running down the wall from the ceiling! They never told us why it was, and they never cleaned it out to keep mold from gathering. Also, they claim to enforce "quiet hours" but there would be people throwing parties down by the pool screaming and it sounded like they were right in our apartment. And we lived on the 8th floor!! People would constantly scream out their windows telling people to be quiet but they would never listen, and security would never help. There were other things too but this is getting way too long, long story short this apartment was way over priced and falling apart, water damage/------ applianced, and a staff that doesn't care to help you, all they want is their money.”
— 950 S FLOWER ST · Downtown“Be warned: these people are not honest in their dealings. We requested an apartment under the terms of the Affordable Income Program, and the management company never made a good faith effort to process our application, despite taking our application fees and deposit. What's worse, after two months came around, they still couldn't give us an answer, so we had to withdraw. They never refunded our fees or deposits--over $200 worth. During the application process, we were given repeated excuses about how The Met had other obligations to attend to, such as its monthly budgeting, and it was fairly clear to us that they either weren't interested in our application or didn't know how to process it. In the end, they couldn't even take responsibility for their inaction or admit their wrongdoing. I'm currently in the process of taking them to court over this matter, in effort to get my deposit back. The building itself seems nice, but I would highly discourage anyone from dealing with this management company. --------------, the two supervisors, are both incompetent, and they have little clue how to run a building, let alone interact effectively with clients. What's worse, The Met itself has obviously obtained benefits from participating in the Affordable Income Program, which is a government-sponsored project. In return for receiving public funds, The Met agreed to lease out a small percentage of its apartments to middle-income residents. The problem is they don't actually see fit to do this part. By creating a labyrinthine process, they can discourage potential tenets. (If you don't believe me, call them and ask why apartment #--- has been vacant for over four months now). More to the point, The Met itself is governed by a highly corporate ethic, one in which residents are merely paying tenants, not people, and it shouldn't be surprising how ineptly we were treated in this process. I would highly discourage anyone from living in this building. As nice as the amenities are, it just isn't worth dealing with the management.”
— 950 S FLOWER ST · Downtown“My roommate and I moved into the Met in August 2009; we are FIDM students, and thought it would be a great place to live. It's close to school, close to Ralph's, and overall, in a great location of downtown. My apartment itself is a great place, it has an awesome view, and we decorated it nicely. However, the management and the staff was pathetic (with the exception of the main front desk guy). The two main managers have the HARDEST time communicating with the residents. They are unprofessional, and unfriendly. In December, my roommate and I woke up at 4 AM to the sound of rushing water coming into our bedroom. Turns out, the boiler on the roof "bursted" and just so happen to flood our apartment, along with 20 other units. I understand that this isn't technically the Met's fault, but they did NOTHING to accommodate the residents who were affected. They gave us a hassle of reimbursing us when they put four 24 hour, industrial powered dryers in our apartment for two days straight, and we couldn t even be in our apartment. It took them two solid months to put down new carpet which happened to be the most disgusting color and texture ever. On a side note, when we moved into the apartment, it was an older carpet with some stains on it. No big deal, right? Well, since our apartment flooded, and had to have new carpet installed, we have two minor stains on our apartment, and they are taking our more than $200 from our security deposit. Anyways, along with this incident, they also claimed they were holding a mandatory fire safety meeting, which was in NO way communicated to the residents. Of course no one showed up, and they decided to have an impromptu fire drill at 10 AM on a Friday, without letting any of the residents know. The managers proved to be unfriendly, and completely rude. They have a hard time returning phone calls, and giving straight answers out when asked a simple question. On top of all of this, the last night of our lease, my roommate, friend and I went over to the Met at midnight on a Sunday to move the rest of our belongings. We told the front desk woman that we were going to park near the freight elevator. She said it was okay, and up we went to move our stuff. We came down a half hour later to our friend s car gone. She TOWED our car at 12:30 AM because she claims someone told her we were going to be there for five minutes We gave her NO time limit, and to be honest, it was just the cherry on top of an awful experience at the Met. I d advise you to spend your money elsewhere; there are plenty of beautiful apartment buildings downtown, and the Met is NOT worth your time, energy, or money.”
— 950 S FLOWER ST · Downtown“The Met is priced about what it should be. The apartments are great, it has an amazing view and is located in a great location. With that being said, the management there is down right horrible. First, my refrigerator broke on a Friday and I immediately went and told the management about it. They told me they couldn't have anyone in there till Monday. In the meantime all of my food went bad despite me explaining to them this was going to happen. I also was not reimbursed for the food. Second my toilet broke once while I was there. Mind you I was living there for only 6 months and in that time my refrigerator and toilet had both broke. Third and most important, one of the security guards stole my license. Yes, that's right, he stole my license. You have to give your license to a security guard for him to allow you to checkout these shopping carts to bring groceries in with. Well one of the guards took my license and left without it. I complained to management and of course nothing came about from it. Overall with everywhere there is to live in Dowtown nowadays, I would recommend going somewhere else.”

— 950 S FLOWER ST · Downtown“I lived at the MET for a year while I attended USC. the building was always very clean and felt safe and in what's becoming a really cool location but this place was NOT worth the headaches. First off, when I went on a tour, the resident services advisor told me they had "NEVER seen the guest parking lot full so that completely won't be an issue" about a week after I moved in they sent around a memorandum about how they cut down available hours/space for guests.. and they kept doing this and doing this for months until it was absolutely impossible to ever find an open guest space (except for maybe weekdays a 12pm) . For the last 6 months it was a rare occasion that even my boyfriend could come and visit me because there were NEVER guest spaces open! And this was on a week night, i didn't even try for weekend nights. Its ABSOLUTELY ridiculous that a building with so many residents paying $1500/mo to have NINE spaces available for their guests (oh and mind you, the front desk staff regularly park in them all day long). Honestly, I didn't renew my lease this school year because I hated having an awesome apartment that none of my friends could even visit me at. Forest City Staff -- if you're reading this ( and its apparent that you do by the reviews you're writing) FIX THE PARKING SITUATION and make your building actually worth its undeserving price tag.”
— 950 S FLOWER ST · Downtown“Hey, lived at (2) different downtown locations. Got my car broken into at one and the other was not an apartment but a USC dorm. Complared to that, I reallly like this place. No issues.”
— 950 S FLOWER ST · Downtown“The absolute worst place I have ever lived in my life. A nightmare from day one. I lived here for over a year and my experience was far less than satisfactory. Management is the big issue here. The General Manager is a megalomaniac who gets off on making other peoples lives miserable. Midway through my time at The Met, my apartment flooded. A pipe burst and about 1/3 of my apartment was under water, damaging the carpet, the cabinetry, and several items of clothing. This occurred on a Friday. I placed DOZENS of calls but nobody would respond. The security team who I had befriended attempted to clean the mess for me but they were untrained and did a dismal job. The GM refused to speak to me over the weekend but told me, through others below him, that I should speak to him Monday morning. That left Friday, Saturday, and Sunday that I was forced to stay in hotels. Monday morning came and I went to speak to the GM as I was told. When I entered his office he had no idea what my problem was and told me "I don't know what you think you're doing coming in here at 9 am on a Monday." This got me a little upset but I kept my voice down and tried to be calm about the situation. He could see that I was infuriated and he immediately called in security because I was "out of hand." The entire incident was ridiculous and we later moved out because of it. The damage caused by the flood was never fully taken care of, although they did partially reimburse me for my hotels. Interesting to note that of my $2,500 security deposit I was only given back $577. One of the expenses listed was new carpet, which had been damaged in the flood (they never replaced it and it smelled like mold for my final 3 months). Another expense was paint that was there before I even moved in. I did not pursue the money further because dealing with their management again would not be worth the money lost. Another incident that took place: I had a handicapped made who cleaned once a week. She came to The Met and there were no available handicap spots so she parked in a regular spot and told security. Security gave her a pass, she signed in (even stating that she had a handicap and parked in a regular spot), and came up to my apartment. When she left her car had been towed. A security guard who was extremely nice and perhaps the one bright spot in a dark place took care of the issue and arranged for us to pick the vehicle up from the lot where they towed it for no fee. He convinced the towing company to wave the fee in light of the situation. We got her car and she quit because of the inconvenience. The next day, the guard who helped us had been fired. If you choose to live here do so knowing that you will be living in one of Forest City's many properties. They are a nationwide company and you will merely be a number to them. Customer service will be non-existent and they will always be ready to replace you with the next FIDM girl moving to LA. Upon moving out, they also lowered the rent from 2500 to 1900. I hate this place with a passion and I wouldn't wish the experience I had upon anyone.”
— 950 S FLOWER ST · Downtown“I rented an apartment here for work instead of living in a hotel. The furniture they provided was dirty. The mattress smelled so badly of old cigarette smoke I was sleeping on the floor until they switched it for another dirty old mattress. My neighbors smoke pot constantly, talk on the phone loudly on our shared porch, and seem to be dealing drugs. When I told the management about my neighbors I got this answer: "Yeah, we get a lot of complaints about that." Also, there is construction noise six days a week across Flower street from 5:30 am to late at night, sometimes past 11:00. I'm not exaggerating. It's a nightmare. I've tried to get out of my lease, but I can't. I've opted to lease another apartment because I need sleep so badly and can't stand that everything I own smells like pot from the smoke invading my apartment. I'll be paying double rent just to get out of this awful situation.”

— 950 S FLOWER ST · Downtown“They charge so much money for everything. I didn't get my deposit($900) and had to pay additional ($900) for not noticing them a month earlier before i moved out, in fact i did notice them. Their management office will do everything to get your money out from your pocket. Their bathroom and kitchen appliances are from the 80's. The appliances brake down easily and everytime i report them, it takes at least 3days to fix them. I parked my car at my roommate's spot just for 1day and they towed my car away and i had to pay more than $500. If you accidently forget you key in the apt and the door is lock, you have to pay $50 to open the door. I would not recommand this apt. This place is disaster!!”
