“Apartment hunters, don't do it. You don't want to live in a Cirrus-managed property. 2127 Rodney Drive tenants got together and threw the bad managers out by pushing the owner to fire Cirrus earlier this year. 3767 Clarington Avenue should be next. It's a little harder for us at The Clarington because our owner Empire Ownership Company Ltd./L. Mark Hammerschmitt stays out of sight. So far out of sight that his business is not even properly registered with the California Secretary of State. That makes him hard to reach, and he may not be a legal entity anymore. We wonder if Mark knows about the fires that the homeless encampment started behind the building, which nearly reached the property. Does he know that on-site building management doesn't monitor danger spots, that it actually can't monitor the encampment and others who case out the property because the security cameras were never fully installed as promised? Does he know that there are ongoing power outages which have nothing to do with LADWP? Does he know that, although we endure loud, disruptive, and seemingly official city-mandated fire equipment testing, The Clarington has not submitted the results of a fire alarm test to the city since 2021 and the fire alarm has not passed fire department standards since 2019? Cirrus could be overcharging Mark to manage the property as much as they overcharge tenants to live here. There is more than this but reviews have a length limit. Go to Yelp. Every tenant at The Clarington deserves a rent refund.”

I lived in the clarington court apartment a for a little over a year and experience on several occasions the corrupt nature of this company. The building management is careless, unprofessional, rude, and most importantly, cheaters and thieves. My roommate and I had both of our cars stolen from the property garage and not only did they offer 0 support or help, they made the process even more difficult for us with unreachable management, refused to warn/let other tenants know what occurred, tried to charge us for new garage clickers, and didn't even change the code for the garage door until months later after we followed up repeatedly. Furthermore, after we moved out, we were charged $400 for cleaning, painting, and carpets. Not only was our apartment was kept in pristine condition in the one year that we lived there, but there was absolutely 0 damage/stains to the walls or carpets. They claimed that the cleaning for our unit went beyond normal "wear and tear" when it absolutely wasn't anything beyond a routine post-move clean up and paint touch up. I was even sent the photos from the post move inspection which prove beyond a doubt that nothing should have been removed from the deposit. I have lived in 5+ apartments in Los Angeles, and never have I had a cent removed from my security deposit for such bogus claims. My roommate and I have had the worst experience with --------------------- and don't recommend the experience to anyone!”
— 3767 CLARINGTON AVE · Palms“It's really sad, when we first moved in we liked living here and it's just totally plummeted since then. Would urge you to look elsewhere. You're basically paying for the amenities yet they've closed all of them down - including the Pool - from May through October (and it will probably be delayed even further). Closing the pool for the entire summer? Then what are we paying for? And at the same time started charging residents for trash, water and sewage out of the blue which comes out to nearly $100 per month (in ADDITION to rent increases yearly). We pay more and more every 5 seconds yet get less and less. The on-site management can't help because they're lovely but don't have power over these decisions. On top of this I'll be honest there are some other weird things happening. There's a family upstairs that has a baby screaming all night and sounds like a herd of elephants on our ceiling, and on our other side there is someone who makes loud gagging sounds every morning and it's been going on the whole time we've lived there. On the other side a dog that's left alone all day and night and barks at the top of its poor little lungs incessantly. The walls must be really thin because you can hear it all. There is a Smart n Final next door which is useful but the people that hang out in the parking lot are not the sort you want next door to be honest. A recent time I went to the store I had police stop me and ask about a woman they were looking for. So even though it's a good neighborhood it seems to be in the worst possible spot in terms of safety. That said there ARE some pros. Again the on-site management are so kind, and they're responsive to maintenance requests and other needs. We also like that there is a security guard, parking, pet-friendly, etc. Really bummed about it but we do suggest looking elsewhere.”
— 3767 CLARINGTON AVE · Palms“My family lived here for 2 years and it was overall good experience. We left because of the rent for a cheaper place but otherwise I recommend this place. (By the way, the correct address is 3767 Clarington Ave)”
— 3767 CLARINGTON AVE · Palms“I lived here at this apartment at the beginning of this year. (btw, the address is 3767 Clarington Ave) Let me tell you what happened to me. Before I signed the contract, they showed me the demo studio which was nice, then when I moved in they put me into another unit that's near smart and finals. You can read the other reviewers' reviews (including the filtered one). Car peeping, late night fighting in that parking lot, pressure wash, you name it. Also, hallways smell like trash especially on the first floor. Just walk by there and try to take a breath. I was never late on rent and always friendly. Here is the thing, if you are living in a small community that have 2 live in managers, you will expect some service right? Not the case here. ----- always have that frustrated look on her and ----- is always pretending she is the knows-it-all manager. Never helpful and you can never get anything fixed. I agree with ---------, they gave you a sheet and tell you what they charge. Mildew is not one of them but they charge you for the shower curtain! Mind you, I had a professional cleaning team out to clean the place before turning it in. They attempted to charge me another $150 for the cleaning. (I have the sheet that shows the pricing with me, message me and I will email you) The studio runs for $1395 a month and $1795 for a 1 bedroom apartment. Here is a list of reasons why you should check out few more apartments before committing to them. 1. They are NOT big for the price, you can expect at least just a bit more space with it. 2. Ventilation and noise are BIG issues. I checked out few other apartments in the same building, the ones facing Venice Blvd. (Smart & Finals), you can rule those out because the noises will make you crazy. For the one facing the pool only has 1 door. 3. Smoke detector not installed properly, and fan in the bathroom was not sucking out air at all 4. Unfriendly and unhelpful staffs. They are always busy so just suck it up. (they once told me I can try renting some other places and the situation is worse. So I'm supposed to compare to the worse in terms of living condition and customer service? I'm paying $1395 a month for a studio, no exactly cheap even on a Westside standard. Overall, they got 1 star from me. Check out other listings first and make this apartment your Plan B. Good luck in your apartment hunting.”

— 3767 CLARINGTON AVE · Palms“I have to agree with previous posters about the plumbing problem. When I was there couple years ago, I had toilet sewage water backup one time, flooding the floor for three days without help although calling emergency maintainance and manager non-stop. Numerous kitchen sink sewage water backups during rainy days and threatened by mananger to charge me for repair which was absolutely not my fault. Manager at that time was rude and not helpful. I do not know how things are going currently but I suggest not to rent the first floor.”
— 3767 CLARINGTON AVE · Palms“I was just searching for apartments in different states because we maybe moving, and I see how these reviews help so I decided to write one in the apartment complex we live in. we have lived here for about seven months and have had no problem. If you read some of the old comments from few years ago, obiviously are not very good. Well when we came to see the apartments you can tell they are renovating the whole building. We are very please here, besides we think the rent is bit too high but again they do have pool, sauna, gym, games area to play. They also have security guard that comes at 9 or 10 pm and I believer he is here until in the morning, i do not know exactly. The management staff is so nice i can't believer these two ladies are so generous. When I came to look at the apartment they were very professional, our move in/signing lease process was dealth very nicely. They are well over organized about things coming up, changes, what they doing to improve stuff. They have montly newsletter and also they pick renter of the month randomly and winner gets $50, all you have to do is pay your rent on due date or before. I had to print few things and my printers wasn't working they let me use theirs. My phone went dead one day and I was able to use their phone to make calls. Our executive studio was just renovated before we moved in, it's like we are the first ones to live here after they have remodeled it. Everythings is new carpet, in the kitchen fosetts, granite tops, new cabinets, new stove, fridge, microwave, ac. In the bathroom new tiles I mean everything is new. The only down side I see is the where we live the noise comes when we leave balcony door open from the traffic on venice blvd which is the main street is pretty busy... and the some fan noise that we get from the grocery store near by from their roof... They are installing new balcony doors for all the apts. Since they are remodeling all the units, it does get pretty noisy if they are fixing the ones right next to you but again they only work during the day so if you at work, it wouldn't be problem. I hope this helps you, because i believer the reviews really help when people choose to see where they like to move. Goodluck and if possible go in person to see it..”
— 3767 CLARINGTON AVE · Palms“I've had different experiences from the others posting here. Our apartment is very large, fixtures mostly work well, and when we call for problems they get resolved within a week. I've never heard much noise from the neighbors (except kids in the pool on summer days) and nobody's ever complained, either. The rent is raised about once a year, and keeps pace with rent control, even though the building is exempt. Ours was just raised -- by $25. My biggest problems with the place are that the dryers sometimes don't work so well in the laundry, the freeway is close, so leaving windows open at night doesn't work, and people always park in the driveway, making entry and exit sometimes problematic.”
— 3767 CLARINGTON AVE · Palms“This apartment building is really bad. They are redoing it but it is superficial. There are rodents, bugs and so many other problems that they are too numerous to name. The plumbing is awful, the office staff is condesending and its always dirty and smelly. Its just a bad place to live.”
— 3767 CLARINGTON AVE · Palms“This building is a grimy scam and a sham. First thing, it is way too expensive for the awful apartments they are offering. I was supposedly moving into an 800 sq ft apartment and in reality it was about 680 sq ft. In the one year I lived there rent jumped $200 in 6 months. I left as they were raising the rates again to pay for the horrid, 90s upgrades they are making to the dump. I should have known it was a bad place when I first visited. The woman showing the apartments (which, as I stated before, are now supposedly going under some sort of refurbishment but the materials are cheap and there are major problems not being fixed) went into occupied apartments without the renters consent. After I moved in, they did the same thing to me. The management company also like to use bullying tactics to scare the renters when in fact the place is a dump with a shotty sewage and water system, two managers (or co manangers) that sit out front watching your every move from 8am- 7pm and small dirty apartments with broken fixtures and disposals. It is like being in a minimum security prison. I needed my disposal fixed from about 2 wks after I moved in, I just moved out and it still has not been fixed. The ground floor apartments occasionally flood with waste from other floors and they are always turning the water off. I cannot think of one thing good about this loud, filthy, impersonal, pit of a building. I was on this site before I moved in and the management put a few favorable reviews in with the real reviews. I should have known this place was horrible. This place is a dump and you have to do your own exterminations. Move in at your own risk.”
— 3767 CLARINGTON AVE · Palms“The main problems stem from the building manager -----. She has an attitude and is reluctant to fix anything. I feel like I have to argue with her or call her a million times before she will call maintenance - so things take weeks to fix instead of days. She lives in the building but is rarely in the office.<br><br>The building is quite old - the kitchen and bathrooms have permanent stains that won't come out no matter how hard you clean! Even the elevator has a glitch in it - the doors have to open at least once before you get to your floor.<br><br>Even though moving is a headache considering I'm staying in the same area. Living in this old building with a rude and incompetant manager is too much! I'm moving out!!!”
— 3767 CLARINGTON AVE · Palms“------ the local apt manager is by far the worst person to deal with. She has no clue about what is going on and is rarely available in the office.<br><br>The apartments have major problems that seem to stem from Earthquake damage that were never resolved. Some of the central units have problems with bowing floors.<br><br>Most units tend to leak when it rains (for the past decade that we have been living here and talking with other tenants as they come and go).<br><br>Over the past 3-4 years there is a problem from August-November where termites enter most of the units, unfortunately these unexpected termites that will share your bed and anything else they can get into won't pay rent :P<br><br>At least once a month they need to Randomly enter the apts to check on something, so if you like have notices on your door with less then 24 hour notice saying "Tomorrow we are planning to enter your apt between 9am-5pm" then enjoy. Nothing ever comes of these "checks" of the entire complex.<br><br>The building has a lot of mold that forms on windows, some units have had to complain to the city before anyone took action at the management company.<br><br>You can find much better deals if you look for a condo or house to rent on Craiglist or on WestSideRentals. Avoid the 2 buildings that are on the intersection of Palms and clarington. They look okay from the outside... but are filled with pitfalls on the inside. I can go on and on about this place... but I don't have the time/effort to put into all the problems I and others have had here.”
— 3767 CLARINGTON AVE · Palms“The building had a "makeover" a few years back (exterior only) but the units have many problems. First, they need new appliances. The building is almost 30 years old and the stoves and air conditioners look ready for the junkyard. Ditto the blinds. Also, the plumbing is bad. You can hear when neighbors turn on their taps (screeching sounds). Plus the walls have very little soundproofing (I've heard the guy next door cough and sneeze!). This is a serious problem since most tenants make no effort to keep their noise level down, even way after midnight. Tenants also routinely slam their doors while entering and leaving their units. Doesn't seem like a big deal, but the walls are so thin that my unit shook whenever someone slammed their door, even across the hall. Obviously, the noise from all the door slamming was enough to rattle nerves. The garage also has problems. It's too dark. The flourescent lights aren't switched on until evening. Also, the gate often breaks down leaving the garage wide open.”
