I am a current resident at Trojan Plaza, and I am definitely looking to move out. I started living here over the summer and the heat is unreal. It is SO HOT in my apartment during the day and being in Los Angeles, it doesn't get cold until November.... During the months of June-September especially, my apartment would be comfortably cool and great in the mornings and evenings. But during the hours of 12pm-7pm, the apartment would basically be a furnace. I had all my blinds and windows closed (so no sunlight can come in to heat up the apartment. It was still extraordinarily hot. I had my air conditioning unit on, but it would only cool 5 feet in front of the unit. Its placement is also near the ground, so there was absolutely no air circulation throughout my one bedroom apartment. Yes, during the winter months and the evenings, it is a great apartment, relatively clean, but does have the occasional bugs. The exhaust fan for my stove also is old and jenky that I'm afraid to turn it on because I dried up oils from years of use will fall into my food. The apartment is all carpet (except the kitchen and bathroom), and it's the kind of brown, thick, and heat trapping carpet. They repaint the unit whenever new tenants move in and supposedly clean the carpet, but that doesn't change the fact that this apartment is old. The complex itself is pretty safe and homey and gas/water/cable/internet (internet can be spotty) is included in the rent and Chris is a great manager... but it's not worth your time. It's WAY TOO HOT during the summer/fall/spring months. Find somewhere with central AC or an effective air conditioning unit.

I am just finishing my lease here at Trojan Plaza and it has been my favorite renting experience so far. The grounds are well-kept, and the apartments are spacious and clean. I love living in a studio, where I have my own space. Chris, who is the apartment manager, is great. He completes repairs quickly (though I haven't had many issues) and is always friendly. He came here in the middle of my lease and has made a lot of improvements in the grounds and the overall maintenance. Ellendale is great-- it's a safe location close to USC but is relatively quiet. Trojan Plaza really feels like a nice escape from everything going on around USC. I would recommend Trojan Plaza to renters who like their own space.

I have lived in Trojan Plaza last two year of my undergrad at USC. I would truely recommend this place to anyone! The place is beautiful, well-managed, and with such a reasonable price on a great space. It also has a swimming pool in the back and a beautiful court yard that has been beautifully remodeled by the new manager who took over last year. Another plus is that the manager lives on site!!! And he is always so prompt and attentive for the tenants. Whenever we have a problem or concern, we know we can rely on Chris, the manager. I think that is one of the big reasons why I miss this place so much, because we don't always get treated this well when renting a place outside. Overall, the environment and the management provided by Trojan Plaza make me feel at home, safe, convenient and very well taken care of. I truly miss living at this place. Trojan Plaza is so popular among USC students. Many of my friends are trying to get on the list and live here, space is limited!!! You would be super lucky to be able to live here. And I guarantee it would be a very very pleasant experience!!!

I have nothing but good things to say about this place. The fact that it's on Ellendale means it's close enough to the USC campus that I can walk to class but it still feels like its own community apart from the college scene. The rent is pretty reasonable for the quality and size of the studio. The complex itself is quiet but friendly and is kept up pretty well. A lot of attention is paid to maintaining a pretty atmosphere and the landscaping/courtyard/pool area are all really nice. I haven't had any issues with maintenance or anything that weren't fixed either same day or next day, which is largely due to the fact that the manager lives on site and is super willing to help with anything the tenants need. I think overall the complex is managed really well and I would definitely recommend Trojan Plaza for anyone looking for studio living in the area.
