I think Casa de Vida is a GREAT place to live. First of all, the location is great. Because it is so close to the freeway entrance it doesn't take long to get anywhere in LA. It is also a very safe and quiet place. The grounds are very well kept and the place is usually very clean. The managers on site are always super helpful and nice! If we need something fixed the repairman shows up within hours. I would definitely recommend this place!

I lived there for three years and only moved because unfortunately I got a loud neighbor on top. The walls are kind of thin but unless you are at home studying all day and night (like me) you won't be bothered by it. Tenants are very quiet and keep to themselves here. Management is on top of things and maintenance is always there to help. Hate my new management here and miss the lovely ladies at the leasing office there. I would say if you don't have a pet and aren't in the apartment all the time it is a great place to live.

Excellent location: near the Overland freeway entrance/exit to the 10 and just an exit away from the 405. On a hill, opposite the freeway so you'd have to strain to hear the road noise. Especially during the day when the neighbors are vacuuming or watching TV because everyone opens up their windows. Nights are very quiet, except for the occasional weekend evenings when some people are returning from the night out. Coming in and out of the parking garages was a little scary at first as drivers on Overland are blazing up and down the hill all the time. But, never seen or heard of an accident happening and you get used to it. A few things within walking distance: a 7-11, Scoops, Chegos, and a strip-mall on National with a great Indonesian Cafe/Store and Boardwalk 11, a local bar with friendly staff and neighborly patrons. The building itself is well maintained with several laundry rooms, a small gym and a pleasant central courtyard with a regularly cleaned swimming pool. The outdoor BBQ grill was recently upgraded and the entire lobby area was recently renovated, with new furniture and a billiards table. Our apartment has a great layout, 2 bedrooms with their own bathrooms, separated by the living room, dining room and kitchen. We had new countertops, faucets and overhead fixtures when we moved in, which was great, but some of the cabinets were missing knobs and didn't close properly. Was a little worried about maintenance when we first moved in, because we kept asking management to fix little things (like, a bathroom door not closing properly or water backing up in the sinks). But things did get fixed and we were pleasantly surprised with building wide upgrades throughout the year: brand-new toilets, upgraded electrical outlets, a new communal BBQ even when the old one was working just fine. And today, they had our fridge fixed within the hour I told them about it. The building managers are what really make this place. They're very friendly, always accessible, and take every problem to heart. Sometimes there's a lot happening, so you'll have to remind them a few times, but it's completely worth it in the end.

excellent place to live. This review is for case de vida apartment at 3230 overland avenue and NOT for casa de vida at sawtelle. The managers,Joanna and Tina are very helpful and friendly. We had lived here for the past 3 years happily. All maintenance works were fixed immediately. Managers even take care of receiving all the packages inspite of their own jobs. Apartment has more than enough closets and cupboards for storage. The exercise room {upgraded recently }and the garden are very well maintained and this place is gated and more safe to live. We had enjoyed our stay here and had to leave only because of my son's school.

this review is for casa de vida on Overland, NOT on Sawtelle. I've lived here for more than a yr now and I absolutely love this place! Joanna and Tina are the managers on site and they are always available and responsive to all of my needs. They always have a maintenance guys over atl my place in less than 24hours of any my maintenance requests. The place is beautifully maintained and clean and quiet. Flowers are always fresh on the courtyard. The gym is almost always available. And the best thing is the price is amazing for the location, price and amenities. Most apts have balconies with great views and bright sunny living rooms!

I lived here for 2 years and I'm kinda sad it has come to an end. The buildings here are well kept and maintenance requests are addressed promptly. Management staff are professional and friendly. Everything is a couple of minutes away and the access to freeways (I10 & I405) is within a minute or so. This a great building if you want to live is West LA.

I've lived here for 2 years. The best part about this place is how efficient the maintenance workers are. They never ignore when there is something wrong with my apartment. The worst part is the noise level! Management is good. Joanna is the manager. She is nice but she had a stroke and now isn't available as often as she used to be. They also used to have these two hot college girls that worked there, but they left :( Now there's this Asian lady who doesn't speak or understand English very well. Despite this, they are on top of things. Every time I have made a complaint about anything, they have fixed it within 24 hours! The only things that suck about this place is that they constantly have construction going on. And the construction guys are always very noisy in the parking lot. Since this place is set up so that the units surround the parking lot, there's really no escaping the noise. They start sawing granite at 8 am sometimes and so if it's your day off and you want to sleep in, forget it! The construction workers talk loudly. Every unit has a large sliding door made of glass so you can hear everything through it and you're not allowed to put up curtains to filter the light or noise. Also, because all of the workers use the parking lot as their workshop, my car gets very dusty and dirty within 15 minutes of parking it there. There's a fair amount of street parking. Casa de vida is on this big hill on Overland, so you can't see when traffic is coming on the other side of it. This makes it impossible to make a left turn without risking an accident. Also, it's very central location. Close to two major freeways , the 10 and the 405. This makes it easy to get to Santa Monica, West Hollywood, LAX and Sherman Oaks. However it is always heavy with traffic so it makes it usually takes 10-15 minutes to get from Casa de Vida to the 10 freeway which is only about 1,000 feet away! AND they just started construction on the Overland bridge so often times there is only ONE lane open!!! It's kind of expensive for what you're getting. It should be about $200 cheaper to find a place near here with a questionable landlord. The demographic here is mostly Asian college students (USC, Santa Monica College, or UCLA), a few young Indian families, and a few 50 somethings from Eastern Europe. Moving in and out sucks because the elevator is super slow and breaks occasionally. I live on one of the lower floors and from the parking lot to my place I have to go through 5 doors (which seems like a few more than necessary) a few hallways and few flights of stairs. It feels like a maze. I still managed to last 2 years here though. So it's not all that bad.
