Been here for numerous years and the mngmnt has change for the worst. Joy wants guest to check in with her, wants to know who they are there for and why they are there and is very rude. They got rid of the cleaning crew (cleaned and mopped daily) now halls are dirty graffiti on walls. They make many promises and all have failed, always try to say "the tenants are privileged to live here".. The elevator is always breaking, turning water off without giving any notice at all, rats running in hallways, and many tenents complaining about BEDBUGS, but we are privileged to live here? The night mngr is a tweeker and fixes stuff half ---...looking for a place to move before it gets any worse. They are always raising rent and saying its renter fees and I think its all BS.. STAY AWAY FROM THESE APTS!!!

I currently live there but moving out soon and it has been all not so great. Mold on my walls from all the water leaks from the roof. My apartment smells like an ash tray but, if you like the smell its perfect for you. Roaches big roaches not small at all. Thin walls so when someone blasts music or is have sexual intercourse better get those ear muffs out. Then when you decide to move out they try and make you pay for painting an apartment that has mold on the walls lol! People let their dogs ---- in hallways. A cinder block fell from the roof a week ago and landed on the 3rd floor from the 4th. Talk about unsafe. Laundry rooms suck always full of clothes people forget about. No elevator also! They said a 1yr ago they were fixing it but nothing ever happened. Hasn't worked in approx. 7yrs

I have lived here for about 3 years now! I have seen different managers but I can honestly say they have they have found the best managers in the world! They stay on top of any need I have! They keep the building clean at all times! The downside to the building is that there is no elevator but we have no problem with that at all. The 1821 building does have an elevator to accommodate handicapped people. For being located in Downtown LA, these apartments are very inexpensive! When I tried looking for 1 bedrooms further in Downtown LA, I kept finding places for at least $2000 or more. Parking is easily well over $100 but not here! Here I pay $60 for it and it is fairly secure! As for neighbors, I cannot complain! They are very respectful of others! I have lived in other apartment buildings and by far this is the best place I've lived in so far!

Thought I was saving money and living close to school but wasn't worth it! The management is corrupt and we received notices to pay rent to the LAPD for a lien judgment. They try to raise the rent monthly even if you have a lease and they say it's "legal" to trick uneducated tenants. The parking is unreliable - not guaranteed and randomly not offered every month. The area is very scary and dangerous. The garbage was not picked up for a month at Christmas time. Plumbing always broken, water off frequently. No 24 hr notice for entries. They try to keep security deposits (had to retain attorney) and they set up neighborhood watch due to crime. Management does not care about your needs and is rarely available during office hours. They make promises (to fix elevator, cable, parking) and NEVER deliver. Loud music constantly. Drug dealers and bums daily. Roaches were all over my apartment and I never ate a meal there in a year. No pets allowed except for the manager. Laundry machines often take money and don't work. Unless you are very poor and a male, do NOT rent from Playa Vista!

I have lived in this building for over 3 years and its a wonderful building. Its affordable, convenient and close to my school. People complained about the elevator being out, that I can understand for some "lazy" people who cant even walk the first floor of stairs, I live on the fourth floor and I love it I exercise lol. The management is good, I have delt with susan at the playa vista office and always friendly and nice.

Do not rent from Playa Vista Property Management, they do not care about the tenant's needs, maintenance request are never completed, they NEVER return security deposits, treat tenants with no respect, no working elevator (even though it was promised to be fixed over a year ago), they have not paid for the cable for several months so we have no working cable (the cable is included in the rent and lease agreement), trash is never paid for by the management company so it overflows outside and is disgusting! The management company just wants to get as much $$$ out of you as possible, but does nothing about all the problems in the building. The women in the main office, Patty and Susan, are incompetent and rude (never return calls or emails)! The only good thing was the apt manager, Shayne, who actually cared about the building and tenants and did his best to help out...but he is no longer working for them. This place is not safe and if you are smart you will stay FAR away. Read the other reviews here on this site and you will see I'm not the only one with these complaints...it's been like this for years and only getting worse!!

The onsite manager wasn't around and it was before 5pm. I don't know if he or she was showing someone else the apt building. I was able to go inside and see the place. The first thing I saw was a huge dead cockroach in the entranceway. I went up to the second floor and saw dirty walls and food on the floors. There was Spanish music blasting from next door and I mean BLASTING! How could anyone live there?!? It's definitely a place I would not want to live in! Sorry!

Full of empty promises, constant construction, no elevator (I was told it would be ready a month after I moved in and one year later...no elevator). But the worst thing of all was the ----- manager Kristen. She is no help and completely incompetent. The pseudo art deco interior that tries to come off sophisticated is just cheap and tacky. The lobby floor is always filthy due to the dust from the construction and the halls are at times smelly and just as dirty as the lobby. I cannot wait to leave this building and would not recommend this to anyone.

Da Capo in Italian means "try again". It is an old building that is being restructured near downtown Los Angeles. For the entire year I lived there, even though when I signed the lease contract it was promised to me that everything would have been quickly finished, workers kept on fixing the place causing many inconveniences for the residents such as noises, dirty corridors and frequent fire alarms tests. Last April, when I left, they were far from being done. Even though the staff is kind and tries to be helpful, the service provided by the apartment manager who is in charge of the place is poor. Tenants are treated with a sense of sufficiency and problems are slowly solved or, sometimes, not solved at all. I didn’t experience any issue however safety could be improved. Many times I found the front door open during night and for many days it stayed without a lock!
