The place has an excellent location near the lively and beautiful strip of Wilshire lying between Vermont and Western. Via the Vermont and Wilshire buses, and the subway, one has quick and easy access to Union Station and Downtown, Hollywood, Griffith Park, USC, UCLA, and (takes a while but the bus gets there) Santa Monica. So one can get around even without a car; and with a car one can go places without the often crowded highways. K-Town is a nice neighborhood, full of good restaurants, shiny coffee-shops, and various retailers. Widely heterogeneous population. The Serrano Tower building is smack in the middle of all this, close to multiple grocery stores, on a pleasant and relatively quiet sidestreet. Rent is cheap, the building is in a reasonable condition, the neighbors are not too noisy, the walls are concrete, it's a good place. The building manager is one Gilbert, a jovial character, former NY cop (among other things). He is friendly, efficient, and a great boon for Serrano Towers. Recommended.

Great place. Vintage Art Deco. Neighborhood good. 4 blocks to 24 hr. Ralphs, 3 blocks to late night CVS, 3 blocks to Wilshire/Western metro, 3 blocks to US Post Office, FedEx and UPS drop places in area, 2 blocks to Starbucks, 2 blocks to 24 Hour Fitness. Korean restaurants starting at end of same block. Kind of hip neighborhood (Koreatown) especially on Thurs. and Friday nights, makes worse the street parking deal around here, though. Limited parking under building. Check that out in advance to see if there's availability. Overall great vibe to this place. Pretty mellow.

Forgot to talk about the neighborhood. 4 blocks to 24 hr Ralphs, 4 blocks to Wilshire/Western metro and buses, 3 blocks to late night CVS, 3 blocks to US Post Office, FedEx and UPS drop off locations in neighborhood, Starbucks 2 blocks, 24 Hour Fitness 2 blocks. Korean restaurants begin at the end of same block, clubs within 3 blocks. Kind of hip neighborhood, especially on Thus. and Fri. nights. Adds to night time parking woes. You can find monthly parking in some structures within 4 blocks. I love it here!

Rather large studios for vintage in Koreatown. Surprisingly quiet! 1930's STYLE, rather well maintained. Like being in another era. Some garage parking available, street parking at night dificult. Monthly parking structures available within four blocks.

1. Maintenece requests take forever and a day to get it done. OR its done the same day no notice just walk right up while your in the middle of showering and they expect you to get out so they can get it done. -You should receieve notice when thinga are anticipated to be done, but thats just one way to tell you how unorganized they are. 2.BUGS! they dont stop. exterminator comes 2 times a month. DO you REALLY want to live in a place that NEEDs to have them come TWO times PER MONTH? 3. Parking is horrible. sure you may get a spot in the garage if your lucky, however 1 you have to pay for it and 2 its inconveineient if you cant get in and out of it. not to mention the random workers that have access to the garage and park in your spot bc ur not in it at the time they arrive... 4. Laundry only 3 machines you pay with quarters 1 to wash .75 to dry. 5 The overall appearance of the apartments themselves- ever wonder why there are no pictures? the painters do a horrible job as they pain right over all the door hinges and screws so replacing them is near impossible and damaging at that. the building floors look dirty and even tho they have a maid come once a month to clean its still just grody and disgusting. this is an apartment for those that dont mind a lil dirt. 6 Manager Gilbert is completely unprofessional. He's nice at first but at the first sign of a disagreement hes a different kind of monster, People Skills=0. Also had him walk in on me TWO TIMES, talk about awkward and uncomfortable. as im standing there in my underwear. literally! what possess you to just bust in someones door WITHOUT knocking!?!?!?!?!?! also violates many fair housing laws as he tells you which buildings have senior citizens and which have a younger crowd, howmany young females live in the building and though this may be information you are looking for it does violate the code. and its discriminating. he acts like your friend not a manager and when the going gets tough its rough and i have emails to prove that, i reccommend if you would like to live here communicate with him via email only as his composure is quickly lost as he knows hes doing things wrong and no one says anything bc they will be harrassed by him. he's even told me that my time here is going to be very miserable bc of the conflicts we've had and that doesnt make me feel very good. i hope that someone reads this and takes action. it is not my intention to hurt any feelings during this review but to give my honest opinion. i know i will definitely not be resigning my lease here and i wish i could get out NOW but since i cant i need to suck it up and deal with it and move when the time comes.

He lured me here by the great ratings but they are all lies. He gets his friends to write them or he writes them. He has recently had a battle with the post office asking them to violate their rules. Then he put up a sign derogatory to the carrier who services the building. His complaints were all lies. Why doesn't the company do something about him?

We had a very good experience living in Serrano Tower Apartments. The manager, Gil, is the best. He is very responsive, honest, understanding, approachable, friendly. Everything was always fixed fast. If the building had 2 bedroom apartments, we would have stayed. The location is great too. Walking distance to the grocery store, public transit, library, restaurants.

This apartment is amazing, not only is the management top notch, but the amount of space you get in just a studio is incredible. We can fit a love seat, entertainment system, 2 desks with computers, cal king bed and a dining set, in addition to all of the other features that the apt come with (and that's just a studio apt!). It has a convenient location: 5 minute walk to underground metro purple line, 2 minute walk from major bus lines and grocery stores/restaurants, you can't get a better location than Serrano Towers.

You can't get any better in this neighborhood for the price. The units are comparably large with lots of cabinet and closet space. Very nice tile work in the bathrooms and kitchens. Excellent views from the upper floors and close to shopping, metro and eating. Friendly and mostly quite neighbors. The manager, Gilbert is easy to reach and friendly, and he keeps the building well-maintained and safe -- not easy with a building from that era! The biggest drawback is a tight parking garage, and limited street spaces in the surrounding blocks.

I lived here for three years and I loved it. The apartments are spacious and have style. The views from the upper floors and the roof are amazing. And the manager Gilbert is awesome. Extremely nice guy who gets the job done. The neighborhood is cool. Everything is within walking distance. If you are going to live there then I suggest you go to the California Market around the corner and have a Korean Pancake from the booth right outside the entrance. All my friends would make it a point to go there whenever they would visit. =) There are many other places I would also suggest, but I will let you find out for yourself. It is also close to the Metro Red Line (subway) so if you do not feel like driving, you can get around town quickly. If you enjoy living in a busy city then K-town is perfect.
