I moved here a few months ago and I should have known from day one when the "assistant manager" Digla, was late, rude and just gave me a bad vibe. I liked the apartment so I rented, but now I'm regretting my decision! To sum it up, the mgmt is totally unhelpful, impatient, completely rude and I would even say evil. The day we moved in the entire apt was grimy. The elevators break down (my roommate got stuck) and look like they're about to fall apart. There has been trash in the elevators that accumulated and no one cleans up. The asst. manager has knocked on our door and already threatened to kick us out because we had two friends over before 9 pm on a Saturday night. I talked to our neighbors and they all said she was crazy and to stay off her radar (too late). She has a reputation for kicking people out of the apartment if she doesn't like you. There's a security "guard" who is hard to take seriously... he reminds me of Reno 911 only worse. The heat doesn't work at all and our stove is pre-1950. The garbage disposal doesn't work and our neighbors said that happened to them too, with of course, no help from the leasing office. It didn't come with a fridge, multiple problems with cable/internet (that the office refuses to help with), I could go on and on. The worst thing about this place is definitely the mgmt. They never return phone calls and frankly I'm scared to go to them since they're crazy. They are on some sick power trip it seems.

Don't rent here. We have seven more months and I'm counting down the days.

The two bedroom units are fairly spacious and really set up great for roommates (doors block each bedroom from the living area). Bedrooms are on opposite sides of the living area and it's a nice open concept living room/kitchen/dining area. The unit and the building for the most part are kept up nicely. The mgmt is terrible. Rude. Like another review I read, you always feel like you are 'bothering them' when it's a simple request. They have come in to our unit a few times without the proper 12 hour notice which wasn't appreciated. The 'no guests at the pool' rule is lame since no one is ever down there and the security guard who takes his job way too seriously makes me feel like I live in a dorm. 4 people on my balcony, chatting at 10:15 PM on a the eve of a holiday and we were scolded to get off the balcony due to quiet hours. He knocked on our door to yell at us and our guests were dumbfounded since we had been quiet! private building-no one gets to know each other. Living room is a bit small and only fit our couch. Love the overall spaciousness of the apt and laundry on every floor. The mgmt alone has us casually looking...

I've been living here now for about 6 months and have just read a lot of the negative reviews and complaints. It sounds to me the people who are complaining, are the people that make living here an overall 3 vs a 5. If you are an adult - a 30 something or older who is looking for a home, then you will like it here. They are strict about parties and noise and making sure people don't smoke on their balconies and have their smoke waft into other people's home. The downside, is the 20 something kids that live here and want to party and play and smoke like they're still in a frat house... all congregate at the front of the building and smoke and talk at all hours of the night and morning, completely ruining the sleep and existence of tenants who are in the front of the building. LONG STORY SHORT -- if you like to party and play and drink and smoke 5 nights a week and stay up until 3am... then this isn't the place for you. If you're a little more mature and want to have a nice home that has granite counters, stainless appliances, balcony, fireplace, pool, gym and gated parking and some guaranteed quiet and security, then this IS a awesome spot for you. sadly the Chateau Apartments are extremely affordable and tend to get a lot of 20 somethings who again, want a frat house instead of an adult community situation.

I was hesitating to write a review, but being relocated to another city for work has forced me to look on apartmentratings.com for a place in New York after 7 years living here. So, I wanted to see how my place viewed on this site: First, I don't agree with the previous review that mgmt intervenes in people s lives, but they care as so much to know who is in the building. The building has about 100 apartments, and with a review which seems to me as a disgruntled tenant wouldn't be fair on mgmt. Second, as for the dog situation which isn't fair but when she has lived there for over 20 years, that accounts for something. Third, as I am aware Nadia is the manager - who works during the week , and whereas Anton is the assistant manager - who works on the weekends, so a comment like the one below is childish and holds no weight. Love the place, sad to leave; but duties call in NY!!

don't live here! The Besidence itself is fine. BUT mgmt IS ABSURDLY TERRIBLE. We have had issues since day 1. We were threatened with eviction for using our own balcony. We explicitly told them that we would be out there having a cigarette every now and again, they took our money, then threatened to have us evicted for noise based on being on our own balcony. Thurs-Sun they have a security guard who knocks on doors and patrols the area. Not only do I suspect he is a certain drug abuser, but he is rude and creepy as well. They threatened us under the guise of "Quiet Enjoyment". Too bad I asked a lawyer and kindly explained to them what the term meant and that it had nothing to do with noise. mgmt is supremely unhelpful and go out of their way to avoid doing their jobs. They only work 9-4 weekdays, so anyone with a real job is out of luck. Upon moving out, I arrived at the managers office at 4:30 and was told that I could not be helped in anyway since she said, "I am not here". The first month I moved in I was woken up at 9 am on a Saturday morning when the maintenance man OPENED MY Alat and entered without notice. I should have assaulted him, but alas I am a gentleman. The Besidence charges $14/month tacked onto the rent for the mandatory time warner cable charge, which once I moved, and added a telephone line and an extra DVR, my overall cable bill went DOWN! It really feels like you live in a dorm with constant roving surveillance. mgmt makes it seem as though you owe them something, as if rent isnt enough. I wouldn't let my worst enemy live here. I hope that you think wisely before giving them your money and take heed of all the comments on this board.

Yeah, I've definintely had issues with the leasing landlords. The security guard is creepy, I"ve talked to my neighbors and they all thing that he is high off of something all of the time... always hyped up, etc. And to top it off, I"ve definitely heard someone on the roof walking around!!

We lived here for 5 years, prior to buying. In fact, it was only because of the extremely reasonable price that we were able to save up enough to be able to buy. While there, we rarely experienced any maintenance issues, but when we did, mgmt was extremely responsive. Clean, centrally located, with all the amenities you could possibly need/want. Friendly and helpful team, and noise was never an issue. If you’re new to town, if being in a quiet and safe place is important to you, or if you want to pay less for a 2-bedroom/2-bath than most people do for 1, then this is the place to be. Thank you Nadia, Christian, and Able for helping us transition to LA with the perfect starter home!

I have to agree with the majority of folks in this thread. HORRIBLE, RUDE, BITTER, ENTITLED, CRAZY, CREEPY people. The main manager, Nadia is probably so resentful because she wishes she owned a home in Beverly Hills and is instead, a manager of a free apt steps from strip club, seventh veil. I had the pleasure of LIVING ACROSS THE HALL from her. There shoukd have been fair warning that the next 13 months would be a living HELL. Her servants, Anton and his wife are passive aggressive (as mother Nadia). The securitu carries a loaded GUN! He sits in a parking garage...why does one need a gun? When i first saw him, I thought i was going to be raped or attacked. His "uniform" is creepy. He comes to the door for ANYTHING. MY COMPUTER WAS TOO LOUD!! I called the police on him and they said he was a case! The maintenance enters witbout knocking!!! Pool is ice cold and Nadia patrols it through her office that FACES THE POOL. They are all losers. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

By far the worse place to live at - they invade your privacy about everything. It seems if they take pleasure in knowing everything about everyone. Nadia is the manager there - she might as well be the a "Mother" of a sorority. She isn't a nice person and will say anything to get you to live there and do an 180 on you once you move in. Be aware - not a place that you would want to live, let alone raise your kids. In terms of the security It's good - while he can be annoying about asking a million questions. As for as the units - it seems that they do a hit and run with place, quick paint and cleaning of the carpet.

Apartments are decent - court yard is cute. Building has potential. Our dishwasher is circa 1985 and we had to buy a fridge. The disposal doesn't work. Too bad about mgmt, I'd have to agree with the postings below b/c you can't have people over! They won't allow it. When we moved in they said we could have ppl over if we left to go out by a decent hour. Complete lies - you're not allowed to have people over even at 8 pm. You can't have friends in the courtyard. They have a list of "rules" you had to sign upon moving in - including no friends in the courtyard on weekends! What the hell? My boyfriend isn't allowed to enter the pool area or BBQ or else I will get in trouble. No dogs, even though both landloards that live in the building have dogs! So wrong. They leave ------ voicemails on my work voicemail about stupid things, I won't be renewing my lease here. It's an ongoing joke amongst the people living here that it's like a jail. It's a good apartment if you want to feel like you're living in confinement.
