We moved here from the Medici after our mail repeatedly got stolen and nothing ever got fixed, and I have to say that the service here is great! Whenever something has been broken or in need of repair, it has been fixed promptly. It isn't as nice as the Medici (it's pretty dated), but it is very clean and quiet (at least compared to other places downtown), and I would highly recommend it. I think it is one of the best values you can get in the downtown area.

I lived here since Nov. 2006. Since there seems to be more young college and grad students here than families, there are sometimes problems with noise. Being a young person myself, its easy not monitor your noise level. But the noise is not uncommon for an apartment... you get over it, nothing to the extent where you could lose sleep at night, unless you have a bad neighbor. Maitenance is excellent. Parking for vistors is crazy, especially at night and the weekends. But tenants have assigned parking and the management can give you permit parking in the garage for your guest if you request same in advance. The apartment itself is very spacious, clean, and nice looking. I like the 24 hour laundry facility and generally that the building is secure with cameras and security officers. I don't know why people have a problem with Chanelle, she's extremely nice and reasonable. I guess others may have perceived an attitude because maybe they were heated about their problems. I've thought about moving because the neighborhood itself is like litte mexico city, not that i have a problem with --------, just a problem with spit, mass amounts of bird droppings, vomit, and random people walking the streets in crowds at all hours of the night. BUT sofar for downtown living nothing can beat the rent and accomodations here. Repairs and maintenance issues are never a problem and Staff are always prompt and friendly.

My grandparents lived in these apartments before the renovations were made and the rent was doubled. They received assistance from section 8 and never failed to pay their portion of the rent so the management was guaranteed a timely rent check each month. But since the management of this place is more concerned with renting their apartments to kids who are willing to overpay just so they can say they live in the hustle and bustle of downtown L.A. they raised the rent(unlawfuly since as a landlord you can only raise the rent if section 8 approves it) to an amount that my grandparents couldn't afford. When my grandparents gave their notice to move out, management started harrassing them for the keys well before the move out date. Seems that management has their act together for their new tenants but could care less for anyone who was there before they showed up.

this is a wonderful place for newcomers to the los angeles area to live. the property manager is very helpful and knows where all the retail stores are. noise is minimal and the courtyard is beautiful... all the facilities, including security, are on point. I LOVE THIS PROPERTY!

The current manager (Chanelle) is friendly, helpful, and professional. The rent is competitive - a good value for the area.

The one bedroom apartments are roomy - and the apartment I rent has a walk in closet, as well as a second linen / coat closet near the bathroom entryway.

The premises are well-maintained, they have a guard on duty 24/7, a passcard is required for the front entryway, a parking space in the gated parking level is included in the rent, and one can take an elevator from the garage area to their floor. All in all, a reasonably secure building.

First of all I have to totally disagree with the person who posted "Avoid this place". I have lived in Tuscani Villas apartments for about 2 years and I've had nothing but positive experiences. Sure the neighborhood is a little run down and parking is bad but it's DOWNTOWN Los Angeles! This should be expected. The building is kept in excellent shape. It is cleaned on a daily basis and painted at least twice a month. The very rare times that I've had any maintenance problems they were handled almost immediately.
I have to say you cannot ask for a better manager. She goes out of her way to make sure here tenants are happy. Recently I decided to move to another apartment building that was closer to my job. After moving and being in the new building for a couple of days I realized I had made a huge mistake and wanted to move back to Tuscani Villas. Chanelle, the apartment manager at Tuscani Villas, helped me look over my lease to see if there was anyway to get out of it without loosing to much money. Long story short I got out of my lease and moved back to Tuscani Villas. Chanelle knew I had lost a lot of money by breaking my other lease so she gave me an extra month to pay her the rest of the rent I owed her. What other manager would care enough to go through all of that to help one tenant in a 140 unit building. I will say it again. Tuscani Villas apartment is a great place to live and has an excellent maintenance, Security and Management staff. I highly recommend it to anyone.

When I first rented at Tuscany Villas, it looked like a great place to live. The surrounding is unsafe at night and very run down, but Tuscany itself looked like a bubble within that.

There are numerous problems with this place. The first is the management. They tried to take away my security deposit before I even gave my notice to leave. They gave me numerous problems throughout my stay there as well. Noise from my neighbor was a HUGE problem, and it was only after giving written notices and a saying I will have no choice but to leave that the management made a genuine attempt to cure the issue.

Also, the neighborhood safety remains a very big issue. Even though the building itself has a gaurd, it is unsafe for guests, who at times have to park many blocks away. There have been numerous times when I heard gunshots at night, and helicopters flying above shortly after.

All in all, even though the price was nice, and the apartment itself is large, these aspects of Tuscany Villas wear off fast. You are left with simple misinformation from management and an apartment that is not worth the hassel.

I lived here for 18 months and all of the glowing reviews are written by building management. The walls are paper thin. Have a complaint about noise? Chanelle Martina, the building manager, will get a nasty attitude with you, the person complaining. She sees you as the nuisance and not the noise maker. Also, the smell of mariajuana is not uncommon, I had two neighbors who used the drug and whenever their front doors were open, the scent would waft into the hallway. Disconcerting to say the least. At night, there was a security guard in the lobby, which was the one positive thing about the apartment complex.
