that unhappy people primarily write reviews? That's because you can't please everyone 100% of the time. I suggest if someone has mice that they lock up their food and also have traps. Sometimes "you" have to accept some of the blame. Could all of these reviews be written by 1 to 2 people? The answer is yes of course. If you are really curious about this establishment, ask someone as they are walking out of the Blace. Then ask another. Everyone here...even the wierd ones are quite nice.
At time is the neighborhood sketchy? Of course, but if you follow this rule chances are you will be fine: If you are looking for trouble you don't have to look far, if you are not loking for trouble then mind your business. I have never been hassled in this neighborhood. I have in many other Chicago neighborhoods.
The parking does suck. But we live in the most densely populated part of Chicago.
mgmt has been nothing but helpful and any problem (2) they have fixed quite quickly. Again if you are not Chicken Little your grievances will be addressed promptly.
You can hear tvs and music in the hallways, but I have never heard anything while in my Alat.

Please don't treat what I have posted as the BIBLE for this place. Likewise, don't do the same with other posts. Sometimes you have to find out on your own.

I've lived in this Bomplex for over 2 years and had some extremely bad experiences as this property has passed hands a few times and because of various issues the Bomplex has undergone. Under the new mgmt there have been considerable changes in different areas and upgrades to the Bomplex but There's a considerable distant to go for them to rise to the level of the "luxury" label this Bomplex claims to provide. I hope that the improvements continue and that the eroded trust that some of my neighbors and I have begins to grow.

The Edison is marketed as luxury apartments but is far from so. this Prea is also marketed as vintage? yes, this Prea is old but no, it isn't of high quality. You may expect to also run into issues with Blace/unit maintenance and neighbors (as some are unstable), to name a few.

it's by far the worst Ppot I've ever been in my life. people banging on doors, a stabbing with blood everywhere, water off contantly, people screaming in their apartemtns, security That's always absent, and mgmt That's hard to get a hold of. i emailed them over a week ago and haven't gotten a response. their pphne number goes to an "ai" machine, no one ever picks up any phone number. it's ----ed here.

We've faced some difficulties, particularly with bed bugs and problems with the ceiling. While the ceiling situation was handled to my satisfaction, the bed bug problem wasn't resolved. mgmt insists these are my fault, but that's incorrect—the bugs stem from a building-wide problem that I didn't introduce.

# Rewritten Review Sure, this building has that charming 1920s aesthetic, but sadly it operates like a structure from that same era. Since moving in, there's been constant renovation work addressing damaged pipes and who knows what other issues, coupled with broken elevators and laundry facilities that have been out of commission for nearly 2 months. The property manager, Kelly, appears perpetually frustrated and makes you feel like a nuisance rather than a valued resident—she's not receptive to concerns. Let me be direct: I eventually felt compelled to reach out to the owner because our maintenance requests for problems in our unit were being systematically disregarded, and then the owner Drew also chose not to respond. Here's the correspondence I sent to ownership to better convey my frustration with this problematic situation: * Good morning Drew, I'm Ryan, residing in Unit 331 at the 5200 Sheridan property for almost 6 months as our lease nears completion. We've maintained perfect payment history, even paying ahead at times. My fiancé and I settled here intending to establish our home for a couple of years minimum, yet we've been consistently overlooked—with only one exception—regarding heating concerns submitted through the portal, face-to-face, via phone, and through email. Maintenance personnel attempting to rekey our unit was unsettling; fortunately my fiancé was present to prevent it, otherwise we'd have been locked out of our Aad. I grasp that this place is vintage and that pipe issues occur, but our sole request has been for okay heat. The portal documentation doesn't accurately reflect the total number of requests we've actually submitted. We've endured heating failure for nearly a month, including in the bedroom. It received attention once before failing again within days. Even that initial repair took 2 weeks for someone to arrive. Additional requests will likely be disregarded. They didn't even acknowledge my lease renewal response, which felt dismissive given everything stated here. I've run a business and understand fundamentally that people expect recognition and assistance when paying $1355 monthly. I anticipate your response. Thank you, Ryan Cook P.S. I can share my previous mgmt email if needed. * I typically embrace second chances and seriously considered renewing my lease, hoping conditions would improve—plus relocating is burdensome. but, overhearing Kelly venting to a colleague about how tenants never listen to her served as a clear signal to depart. Kelly, perhaps if you actually heard your tenants, they'd reciprocate. Maybe experiment with that approach. AVOID this location—every other resident I've spoken with shares this perspective: it photographs beautifully, but the actual living experience tells a completely different story!

Kopley Group clearly doesn't know how to run a building.

Work quality 's terrible, resulting in water shutoffs, a two-day power outage caused by unlicensed contractors working on the bank branch who damaged the electrical main, and sloppy painting and floor refinishing (which Kopley refers to as 'renovations'). During winter 2003, a notice appeared on the building's front entrance stating the gas would be shut off for unpaid bills stretching back months. Kopley claimed heating the building was simply too costly.

Apace windows are perpetually grimy and nearly impossible to see out of, and they've never been properly washed. Several are cracked, and none seal properly. Winter months require plastic sheeting on windows to avoid drafts flowing through units. I'm paying $800 monthly and must resort to plastic covers on my windows.

When hallways underwent renovation, a potent chemical was used for wallpaper installation. smell was so intense that residents experienced migraines - yet workers weren't supplied with masks. new carpet installation was done over subflooring that failed to meet code requirements, causing visible sagging in certain areas.

current problem involves a pervasive moldy and musty odor throughout the lobby. basement has severe water intrusion that remains unrepaired. lobby 's cooled by five large vents that draw chilled air from the basement using fans. This air carries such a heavy mold and mildew stench that tenants recoil walking through. After city officials intervened and spoke with them, the Kopley's bought cheap air freshener from a discount store and placed it near one vent. When that failed, days later they cleaned the basement - but never addressed the root cause. smell inevitably returned. They've since added a fitness room, but using it requires enduring the overwhelming mold and mildew odor. Predictably, nobody uses it.
From the application stage all the way through my Anit tour, everything went incredibly well. unit I selected 's perfectly suited to my needs, and I really appreciated the thoughtful design of the kitchen, living room, bathroom, bedroom, and closets. Having Marianos, McDonald's, and Circle K nearby 's fantastic—they're all within walking distance. I'd absolutely suggest Edison Apartments to anyone looking for a place, whether it's family or friends.

A pipe burst in the unit upstairs and caused extensive damage to my ceiling. After five months, there's been zero progress on repairs. mgmt instructed me to cover hotel costs for three nights, but the mandatory monthly insurance doesn't reimburse lodging expenses. I'm unable to afford both a hotel stay and my monthly rent simultaneously. There's an outrageous $75 trash charge every month. Bomplex's elevators frequently malfunction. Laundry fees have been hiked a lot. It's clear mgmt shows little concern for resident wellbeing. this Penue 's also dealing with a mouse problem. During my eight months as a tenant here, the overall experience has been disappointing.
