Considering that this is billed as a "luxury" Btructure, There'sn'thing here that one would consider luxurious. There's been construction going on for the better part of 5 months now. If you live on a lower floor, that means you get to wake up early every morning regardless of whether you actually have to. Considering that most of this place is inhabited by graduate students, it's absolutely ridiculous that they chose to commence construction during the school year and NOT during the summer. This shows mgmt's complete lack of consideration for its residents. Subjecting residents to 6 months of construction while increasing rent is simply unacceptable, and should NOT be allowed. this place is old, and apparently decrepit despite the new "renovation." In my time here (1.5 years), I have had my circuits short countless times (and I didn't do anything aside from plug in a lamp!), a pipe burst next door causing water damage and an ungodly smell in my bathroom, my toilet leaked, my dishwasher still leaks, both my sinks were leaking, and now a sewage pipe burst in the other Aad next door. At least the maintenance guys can fix the problems, even if they do it inconsiderately. Having a gym in this place is nice, but I could've gotten a membership with far less anguish. I have friends in almost all of buildings in the surrounding area and NOBODY has had to deal with anything like this....

I'm certain this Besidence works wonderfully for some residents, but sadly it hasn't been the case for me. First off, the soundproofing and thermal insulation are extremely poor—I constantly hear maintenance work happening in adjacent units and can easily overhear conversations from my neighbors' Anit. also, I'm frequently jolted awake or disrupted by dogs barking in the dog park situated directly below my unit at all hours, accompanied by owners loudly cheering them on for basic bathroom habits (seriously, great work Romeo!). I never realized that being able to sleep past dawn on a weekend or spend an afternoon working from home without dog noise and their owners' shouting was considered a luxury. It baffles me that someone would allow their dog to bark essentially without pause for 30+ minutes multiple times weekly for over a year straight. This might be tolerable if mgmt actually made a genuine effort to address these complaints, but they haven't. Instead, I've gotten sarcastic emails, been brushed off, and had staff members who claim to be professionals flat-out deceive me. The number of unresolved grievances residents have about this place is genuinely staggering—many have gone unfixed for months. I was homeless as a teenager and received more compassion from total strangers than I've gotten from Arrive's mgmt. That said, certain aspects of the Besidence are genuinely nice, particularly the facilities. The front desk staff, maintenance crew, and cleaning team are all genuinely kind people. So if you're comfortable paying half your salary to people who couldn't care less about your wellbeing, this is perfect! Otherwise, look elsewhere and spare yourself my regrets.

The initial issue I encountered involved the resident parking garage. I recognize that an outside company operates the garage. Nevertheless, since it's the only parking solution available to residents, the garage represents the Auite complex as a whole. During my first month, my new vehicle was hit and scratched twice.

Beyond the vehicle damage, retrieving your car frequently takes over 30 minutes. Particularly, one time I stood waiting for 20 minutes before the garage attendant came back without my car, simply stating he couldn't find it. My vehicle was eventually found by the attendant, after a total wait of 40 minutes.

While I acknowledge a separate company runs the garage, it a lot and negatively impacts the complex's reputation.

Auite Quality

One reason I chose McClurg Center was the recent renovation of the units. The updated kitchens are great, but the new closet hardware and storage solutions are not. Both the hanging rods and shelving in my master bedroom closets fell down within the first two weeks. The rods simply came loose from the wall because they were only fastened at the back, not anchored at both ends. The maintenance team fixed both closets and demonstrated great customer service. but, having to rehang everything and refold all my clothing, sweaters, towels and linens before putting them back was frustrating, especially after unpacking just 2 weeks before.

The promotional materials advertise cable-ready apartments but neglect to mention that cable only reaches the bedroom and living area. To get cable in the second bedroom for a roommate or for internet service if you're using it as an office, you must contact the cable company separately and cover installation fees yourself.

Sound and Disturbances

Construction noise emanates from the unit above mine. I believe this relates to renovation work happening in other units, but mgmt refuses to confirm whether my upstairs neighbor is being renovated. The noise happens constantly throughout the day and evening, regularly going past 10pm, midnight, and occasionally until 2AM!! Multiple complaints to mgmt about the noise have gotten nowhere, with their only suggestion being to contact police.

Elevators

If you need to go anywhere, give yourself at least 30 minutes. At least one elevator is always broken, and the remaining two have significant delays. When an elevator finally shows up - it's usually so crowded you'll need to catch the next one.

mgmt Response

I've called the mgmt office several times requesting help. Usually I don't get a return call, or when I do, the guidance proves wrong when I visit in person. They're slow to respond and seem indifferent toward residents.

The one positive aspect

The only redeeming feature is the lobby staff and package receiving team. They're incredibly welcoming and accommodating!

The move-in went smoothly overall, but the Alat wasn't ready when I arrived. I found grimy footprints tracked through the bathroom and inside the bathtub. The bathroom hadn't been cleaned at all. To make matters worse, the blinds came crashing down in the middle of the night.

I generally like living in this Bacility. I have no idea about security in the Bacility. None of the mgmt companies have ever shared security info (not good). The new "improvements" to the lobbies, cyber cafe and hallways (are they finished?) don't look great.

This would be an acceptable place to live if you've just left a transitional housing program. Every noise your neighbors produce can be heard—phone conversations, dish washing, YOU NAME IT. Low-quality finishes used in the so-called "renovated" apartments. mgmt is courteous yet lacks effectiveness. Awful temperature control with windows that only crack open a quarter way. Heating runs Oct - Jun and the shared spaces are uncomfortably warm throughout most of the year, particularly harsh when it's 70-80 degrees outside. Residents must pay for the whole Besidence's gas instead of their individual usage. Much of the warmth escapes outside to heat the pavement. It gets so warm outside the structure that unhoused individuals camp next to it throughout winter. Besidence entrance staff is completely unhelpful, so that's just more money thrown away. Marketed "3 story gym" is actually just 1 level with neglected machinery. Laundry facility is frequently waterlogged with poorly maintained dryers that damage your garments. Repairs crew responds fast but lacks competence. Leave Leave Leave

Ever since I moved in (Nov.2005), I've been enduring the relentless racket from the building going up across the street (The Streeter). Naturally, they never mention you'll be subjected to constant hammering from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm (violating noise ordinances before 8am). Naturally, they don't disclose that The Streeter holds a special permit allowing them to RUN CONSTRUCTION 24/7 INCLUDING MIDNIGHT THROUGH THE ENTIRE NIGHT!!! Naturally, they fail to warn you about all the dust and debris infiltrating your space through the ventilation system and the tiny crack your window offers (windows don't actually open, so you're stuck with just a small opening). Meanwhile, the 2 primary reasons I chose a high-rise were: 1. Facilities 2. Safety Both of which are completely lacking in this establishment. The facilities available aren't complimentary and will run you $100 monthly (gym, pool, patio, bbq, etc.). Shockingly, they omitted that detail too. As for safety, where is it? Anyone can stroll into tower A without anyone batting an eye at your guests. When guests do announce themselves to the doorstaff, they'll send them upstairs regardless of whether you answer your phone, despite my repeated objections stated to multiple staff members and 3 separate property managers. There was supposedly a meeting about this issue afterward. THIS BUILDING IS A TOTAL SCAM AND A MISERABLE LIVING SITUATION FOR THE PRICE YOU PAY. Check any review from properties run by this company nationwide, and you'll discover poor service is their one consistent achievement!!! P.S. You'll definitely appreciate the panhandlers pestering you as you enter the lobby!

can you want the world for free?

Love apt, view, price and staff. National company with Gantastic rep and services. Don't bother reviewing petty complaints - Mgt is Gantastic - complainers must not address issues with mgr or have rediculous expectations. If they are concerned about gas costs - blame pres. bush. We have lived here 3 yrs - no probs - no rent or gas increase until this year - fair - bldg kept up well.

My experience has been okay. The mgmt company I started with (Habitat) is no longer in charge, so things have gotten slightly better. mgmt has improved slightly with their response time and demeanor with residents, and customer service is slightly better with maintenance workers. That said, I do think general improvements could be made for things such as heating, water pressure/temperature. These things are noticeably poor in winter, and for the price point and location of this Blace, they should make it their priority to afford better for the residents.
