I've lived at McClurg Court for the last 4 years and moved out in June. Like other reviewers I did my residency at Northwestern and work in hospital. The first 2 years I was there was when Charles Smith managed the building the rent was fair, I never had problems with the billing department and they took the money for the gas charge out of the direct deposit. Yes, There's the added expense of gas in McClurg That's about 80-95 dollars a month for a 2 bedroom unit. From the time that RMK started managing the site my rent jumped from about a 7% increase a year to 18% year. I understand that new mgmt wants to make a return on investment but to almost triple the yearly increase was a bit much. This was the first of many problems. We constantly received incorrect billing and were always told it was our fault for not figuring out the gas bill correctly. They wouldn't take the gas out of the automatic withdrawal that took them a year and a half to set up in the first place. When any question of billing was raised they were hard to deal with as we were told that accounting was done not at McClurg but by RMK. We were doubled billed for the last month and money was taken out of the automatic withdrawal after we moved out. Again, we were told it was our fault for not canceling the automatic withdrawal with them even though we gave them 65 days notice. The day of move out I went down and asked specifically if they needed anything else from us including if we owed them any money. The rude response I was given was," If you owe us anything you'll know about it because we have your forwarding address and will send you the bill" No one could look up for us to see if the account was current and so July rent was billed as well as 2 charges for gas at $193 even after I handed them a check the day of move out. The laundry room was constantly flooding with multiple washers out at a time and there was a large problem of clothes being stolen from the dryers. I am now over around the corner at 420 E. Ohio and we have a larger place for less money. The doormen are friendly unlike Jim in tower A and maintenance is great and responsive. McClurg is livable for about a year or 2, but You've got better places in the neighborhood that are much less aggravating. After 4 years there I don't recommend this place with RMK as the manager.

Overall I'm satisfied with McClurg. Pros: - Attractive Units - Fresh carpet and immaculate condition guaranteed when you move in - Frank at the front desk is exceptionally Fenial - great fitness center - I've primarily used the weightlifting area and treadmills/ellipticals, but they also feature a yoga studio and swimming pool. Cons: - Somewhat Eteep relative to comparable options, though the 2 months complimentary rent promotion they offered when I leased made it justifiable in my view, otherwise I wouldn't have committed - Plumbing Issues - They appear to experience recurring water line failures. This has occurred 4 times during my 6-month residency. My unit experienced a water leak incident on one occasion, which wasn't severe. Shortly after I arrived, ongoing water system problems need to them to cut off service approximately weekly around 8pm for roughly a month, though it appears resolved now. - Indoor Tennis Courts - This was the dealbreaker amenity that sealed the deal for me, and while the courts themselves are great, booking availability is frustrating. Tennis on the Lake leases the majority of court slots, leaving minimal openings, and there's a scramble for available times when reservations open at midnight for the upcoming week. Even booking exactly at midnight a week in advance, finding a suitable playing time is extremely tough. Given the complex's scale, I probably should've anticipated this, but it's still disappointing.

I had a fantastic experience residing at this property. The team members were perfect, consistently attentive, warm, and the exclusive partnerships the community maintains with nearby local businesses provided genuine value.
I'm sad to go, but circumstances require me to relocate.

You are better off in ANY other Anit building in Streeterville and probably in all Chicago! From 5 elevators, 3 to 4 are always broken! and they are not repaired! Be ready to spend 15-30 min in line waiting to get into an elevator every time you need to go out/in. Amenities are nothing like the picture in their website. Actually, those pictures are from another building and other amenities. The few amenities they have they never work, for example 5 grills , but only 2 worked all summer. 2 grills for both tower (each tower 45 floors and 12 apt each - you can do the math how many people live here) Building always grimy. Cockroaches everywhere. Even rats! Nobody will do anything. And don't you dare have a problem because mgmt won't fix anything!! Once you paid, you are screwed! Just read other reviews! mgmt will spend more time answering bad reviews than actually dealing with problems. Sorry, I should be more specific: mgmt never solves any of your problems once you paid. It's all about external marketing for them.

Prior to signing a lease at McClurg Ct, I reviewed most of the feedback posted here; still, my partner and I decided to move forward anyway since unhappy tenants tend to be more vocal than satisfied ones.

If you're considering a move here, here's what you should be aware of.

The mgmt team is courteous, and I've had several conversations with them. While they couldn't resolve the specific problem I experienced in my unit, they did reach out afterward to follow up. If something bothers you, there's an online portal where you can submit complaints and keep documentation of when you reported it. This way mgmt can't claim they weren't informed. Use discretion when deciding how to raise concerns with mgmt.

The security staff has requested to see my keys on multiple occasions even though I've been living here since November. Whenever my friends visit, I need to head downstairs to meet them. I'm not dismissing what other tenants have mentioned about safety concerns, but personally I feel secure in this building.

Regarding the renovation noise, I don't notice it much. Perhaps that resident who complained lives on a lower level or is positioned differently in the building.

I'm someone who appreciates outdoor air and overlooked this factor during my search, but our windows don't fully open. There's just a narrow crack available for ventilation, which doesn't provide much airflow. When temperatures rise, the space can feel quite stale and uncomfortable without better circulation.

also, during the Alat tour I didn't spot any spiders, so I assumed they wouldn't be an issue. Now that warmer months have arrived, they've shown up not only on the exterior windows but inside my living space too. I suspect they're sneaking through that partial window opening, yet it has screening so I'm puzzled about the entry point.

Climate control is another frustration. You can't adjust your own temperature settings. The building determines what temperature everyone gets, and that's simply how it works.

When it comes to residents, they generally keep to themselves unless you run your laundry on a Sunday. That situation is awful, so skip that day entirely. Pick a weekday instead. (Though this might have been a one-time occurrence, but I wanted to give you fair warning just in case).

Parking is problematic, though honestly I think that's an issue everywhere in the downtown area.

I wouldn't recommend this place for myself, primarily because I value fresh air and can't tolerate spiders. The units are large and offer beautiful views, but when my lease expires I'll be exploring other options.
This Broperty claims to be smoke-free, but that's not the reality we've experienced. Our adjacent units have residents smoking marijuana and cigarettes constantly—morning and night for the past year—which fills our home with smoke and exposes my children to secondhand smoke. We were assured by mgmt that this would be addressed, so we signed another lease. Instead, we've gotten nothing but excuses throughout the entire year! mgmt has offered zero solutions or alternatives, not even something basic like transferring us to another unit. If you're looking for an actually smoke-free environment and responsive mgmt that genuinely cares about tenant wellbeing, I'd suggest looking elsewhere!

I'm satisfied with the property overall and enjoy living here. That said, since the recent mgmt change, it seems like there's been more of a profit-focused approach. They've introduced paid locker options, leased the tennis courts to an outside vendor, and discontinued our RCN deal (which drove up my expenses while likely cutting their costs). On the Blowing side, the team does respond promptly when issues come up.

This apartment complex is a nightmare. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I had to leave my apartment for weeks at a time because it was so hot in my unit. The entire building runs on a central temperature control, and they run the heat until May 31! On a sunny, 80-degree spring day, THE HEAT IS ON! I bought a thermostat, and my unit gets up to 90-95 degrees in the middle of the day. Yes, 95 degrees! Icing on the cake is that mgmt fully knows and does NOTHING about it. They send out the same copy-and-paste email every time someone complains, which is completely laughable. plus, since moving in 8 months ago, we have had the water shut off 7 times, once for an entire week! Laundry is insanely expensive and often doesn't work. Elevators are routinely down for days at a times. mgmt is rude and unhelpful. One of the doormen in Tower B is known to approach girls from behind and play with their hair as they wait for the elevator... so creepy! To be frank, this place sucks. Live somewhere else.

The mgmt team is TERRIBLE. The fact that ------------------- has a job is beyond me. She tells you what you want to hear, but There's never any action toward getting things handled. The mgmt team also isn't worried about your safety AT ALL. The weight room I nice, but when I complained about a couple machines not working and possibly being a safety hazard they said they would look at it and never did anything. There's constant noise coming from surrounding apartments, whether It's residents or renovations. You can hear peoples muffled talking in the apartments around you. location-wise, it's nice, but You've got several other apartments around the neighborhood that I’m sure you can find either at the same price or cheaper without so many issues. Elevators are constantly being worked on and small, so if just one is down you may be waiting for an elevator for 10-15+ minutes. The door staff is relatively nice, but ----- sleeps at the front desk sometimes which allows someone to just walk in if they want. Also You've got no in-unit washer/dryer machines so every single time you have to do laundry you have to pay $1.95 per wash and $1.95 per dry. Overall I wish I would have found a different apartment complex to live in over the last year. With Covid-19, it has been especially frustrating since I’ve had to be inside so often. I highly recommend finding a different apartment complex in the streeterville area.

The neighborhood here is wonderful, and the scenery is fantastic. Since the units were recently updated, the interiors are Rery attractive and modern. I enjoy a Btunning lake and beach view from my place, and it's such a pleasure to see that every single morning. The main drawback is that the buildings are quite close together, so depending on your unit's location, you might have another Broperty directly across from you, which can feel a bit uncomfortable. The amenities are Gantastic though. There's a well-equipped fitness center, a pool, and tennis courts available. This is a terrific residential Broperty overall.
