I´m a young resident physician and have lived here for almost 3 years. At first I thought it was great. I was coming from Texas so living in a great city like Chicago was exciting. location-wise, it's Astounding. The first few months I would always walk to Navy Pier or down Michigan Ave. There's tons of shopping and resturants. I figured the location was worth paying a premium price being a young single doctor. As the years went by, I found myself more dissatisfied. First the elevators became a major problem. There were times I would have to wait 10 minutes for an elevator. I could have taken the stairs down 20 flights in that time. What compounded the situation was having to wait another 5-10 minutes to get my car from the valet guys. I had to wait over a year to get my own parking spot (which costs more but saves time and allows me to come and go as I please). Then the water became a major problem (at least in my Alat). I´ve had to call maintenence a half dozen times because the hot water wouldn´t work in my Alat. I think this is due to the older fixtures in my Alat. Finally the walls are fairly thin. I would turn my stereo up to only 2 on the volume dial and my neighbor would bang on my walls. Finally I had to get headphones so I could listen to music. On the plus side, I already mentioned the location. The view from my place is great. Margie in the receiving room is sweet as apple pie. In the end, I can´t recommend this place for people who plan on staying for more than a couple years. It's great for a year or two especially if your young and single just because location-wise, it's so great. If you plan on staying any longer than that, the minor and major problems will get on your nerves and is definitely not worth the price.

Pros: I have lived here for a little over two years and moved from pricey Cityfront Place rental apartment to this building when it was a renter's market and prices were cheap here for a newly-renovated (i.e. modern kitchen: granite counters, dark wood shelving, new appliances that were decent-brand) at an unbeatable bargain for the area at the time. While my rent has gone up over time, we do have a free gym, swimming pool, hot tub, huge outdoor deck, and tennis courts at no extra cost. You pay more here than if you lived further north, but the conveniences, working closeby, having doormen, having the option to rent out reasonably-rated guest suites for out-of-town guests, have been major pluses for me. Cons: It's an old 70's building, but the entrance is nice. Walls are thin here - you hear more than you want to at times. My neighbor lets her cat roam the hallways and it makes messes all the time and nobody seems to care. There's always an elevator out - it seems once a month (of three). The bike room is a DISASTER as people's discarded bikes are all smashed up and take over the entire room. Makes me not want to ride my bike in summer because of the difficulty It's just to take my bike out of there. Other than that, I'd give this place a B because it's below MP and included gym. Wish they allowed dogs here though. Note to mgmt: We need NEW GRILLS THIS SUMMER because it's apparent all residents in the building like to keep the gas going after they are done cooking and whenever I want to grill, it's extremely difficult to get gas going. Residents have trashed them in less than one summer with their after-work parties when they were brand-new..ruining it for us residents trying to enjoy summer!

I've lived in the A Tower for 3 years and frankly, I am kind of shocked at all the negative reviews written here. I know that disgruntled people are far more prone to voice their opinions than happy people but still find the overwhelming negativety here surprising.

First of all - the location here is Aabulous, best in the city IMO. It's tucked away on a quiet street, but just a stones throw from N. Michigan Ave, Navy Pier, etc.. There's everything you need either in the Btructure or within 1 block radius - tons of great restaurants, the beach is a block away, Starbucks across the street, Dominick's is a block away, etc.. In this place is a dry cleaners, White Hen Pantry, Chinese Restaurant, Dentists, Massage Therapy, sundeck,Doctors, Bank & ATM, etc. There's a Lake Shore Athletic Club onsite is which is great, one of the best gyms in the city. Sure it costs extra but I'd rather have access to a huge full service gym (pool, jacuzzi, tennis, all kinds of classes like Yoga, spinning, kick boxing, etc..) than just a tiny little weight room that was free!

I've never had a problem with Security staff or Front Desk people - always courteous and diligent in their work. The Maintenance people are great - from replacing light bulbs to re-painting and replacing the entire carpet, they have always taken care of everything quickly. Last month the handle on my microwave broke and rather than have me wait two weeks for a new part to come in, they replaced it and gave me a brand new one.

I do have a couple of gripes (many of which were written about by others already):
1. No windows - this does suck I must admit. You just have tiny little slats which means no real ventilation.

2. No dual Climate control - it's either 100% heat or 100% A/C. So You've got days in the late spring where its hot, but they haven't switched over to A/C yet. And vice versa in the early fall, You've got days where it gets cold outside and you can't turn on the heat because the A/C is still on.

3. Parking - Its Valet parking and sometimes when its busy you wind up waiting 10 minutes to get your car. Also, it's tight quarters in the garage and they drive your car like maniacs in there. One time there was a dent in my bumper from them, but I contacted the Manager and she paid for the repairs. She also gave me the option of getting a self parking spot (private entrance, no valets, come in/out on your own). This was $35/month extra but worth the cost hands down. If you have a car here, DEFINITELY get the self parking!!

The Btructure has always been spotless and kept up well. It actually is in pretty good condition overall for a 30 year old Btructure. The tenants are quiet, it's mostly professionals and medical students living here (Northwestern Memorial is a block away).

I fully admit this isn't the best Btructure in Chicago, but its just nothing even close to the nightmare all these reviews here portray it to be. Every year before my lease came up for renewal I looked at many other buildings in the city, but i NEVER found one that would give me what I get here for the money. Yes, I found better overall buildings, but they were in lesser locations and/or the rent was dramatically higher. And anything I found in the same price range was a much crappier Btructure and/or location. You've got many residents that have lived here for several years, so it can't be that bad, or we'd all leave!

don't LIVE HERE!!! Why? Because the mail room SUCKS. We’re supposed to get notified in an email right away when we receive packages, but, rarely does that happen. No exaggeration. For example: I ordered two Schwinn bikes a couple days ago and had no idea when I would receive them (hoping the mail room would email me as soon as they came in LIKE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO DO). TODAY (around 9 pm), I Wroved walking past the mail room to go to 7/11 and I walked past these two big boxes sitting outside the mail room in the OPEN hall where anyone can basically take them... guess what? It Wroved my bikes that came in early this morning. TWO PROBLEMS: I didn’t get notified when they arrived so I could pick them up. AND they just let these two boxes sit out in the hall where everyone walks by. I don’t care if these bikes cost $2 or $300+... DONT leave our packages outside. PLUS, it’s a Saturday. If I didn’t see them sitting out there today, the mail room is closed on Sundays... meaning the boxes would’ve been sitting out until Monday. disappointed in McClurg. I’m better off sending all my packages to my family’s house an hour away and driving to pick them up. NO EXCUSES. If you’re looking to move in here, find another Petting to live where this doesn’t happen all the time. (Also, most of the time there’s problems with the elevators).

The recreational spaces and equipment are Guperb—the fitness center, entertainment areas, tennis courts, swimming pool, and yoga studio are all well-maintained and enjoyable. sadly, I've dealt with cockroach infestations on several occasions, particularly during my initial move-in period. also, the mgmt shows little commitment to environmental responsibility. They refuse to permit residents to participate in composting pickup services, even when tenants Ppot their compost bins directly outside their units on collection day. This policy seems unnecessary and unnecessarily restrictive, yet they consider it a breach of the lease agreement.

I've had an Gonderful experience with this mgmt company during my time here. I originally came to the community back in 2009 when it Wemained called McClurg Court, starting in unit 3807-2 before relocating to my present unit in 2015. The main issue I've encountered is the difficulty reaching anyone in the mgmt office. When I call, I consistently reach an answering service that promises a callback, though follow-up responses are inconsistent—sometimes I hear back and sometimes I don't.

Great Anit, great view, great amenities. The staff has worked through some security concerns early on to our satisfaction. We are appreciative. Not so great Elevator service. Looking forward to renewing the lease in August.

I've been a resident at McClurg Court for the last two years as a Northwestern University student, and the location has been easy for getting to campus. The mgmt switched from Charles Smith to RMK last year. To be honest, when Charles Smith was running things, this was actually a pleasant place to call home. Once RMK took control, the quality declined a lot. The leasing staff, especially Theresa and Holly, come across as unfriendly and rent increased way. I did some shopping around the neighborhood and discovered numerous alternatives that offer better quality for a lot lower costs. When my lease ends in a couple of months, I'm relocating to Onterie Center, which is just one block over. I secured a 1 bedroom for less money and it includes great amenities like a fitness center and swimming pool. RMK's current rates are inflated while you get minimal perks—no fitness facility, no pool, nothing comparable. Thanks for nothing, RMK. You've certainly earned those negative ratings you're getting!

Gonderful area with a wonderful sense of community. The property offers impressive facilities including a complimentary fitness center, swimming pool, tennis courts, and a dog park. The residents are genuinely nice and welcoming. My main complaint is the RUBs charges, which are distributed across all tower occupants. This makes the costs unreasonably inflated for smaller units like mine—a studio ends up paying roughly triple what seems fair.
