Everything is good especially the location, easy to access anywhere nearby, eateries, groceries, cta train, fitness, park etc. Just feel a little insecure while once of their maintenance guy opened up my unit unexpectedly and saying he mistaken the unit number. This made me felt in horror and tried to make a complaint to the management people but the explanation I got from them was: Everyone could made a mistake. Since then, I always put a door stopper that I think it won't really helped out much if anything happened but at least hopefully it could drag some time for me if anyone get it. Despite this uneasy incident, the rest is pretty good.

My wife and I have been living here for two years and it is simply getting better and better. I'm not saying there is no issues, but the new management is really making effort to improve this place. We originally chose here only for its location -- it is close to where we work and only steps away from the park and all kinds of grocery stores and restaurants. But now, in the building, there is a new fitness center, a new business room with Mac and PC equipped, and a really fancy lounge -- all free for residents. The maintenance are generally very fast and responsible. And Mark, the manager, is really friendly and helpful -- he really helped a lot in solving problems in our room that is left by the previous management. We really enjoy living here and just hope they won't increase our rent again next year :).

We like this place! We have a 2 bedroom on the east side and what a view. The lake, Grant Park, Navy Pier, and more are all in full sight. The maintnence staff is the quickest to respond of any we've ever had. The front desk is staffed 24/7 and they only allow residents in. Our apartment was recently renovated and is very. Ice inside. The shopping is excellent, and the access to public transportation is fantastic..Emily in office management is super.

Terrible- Absolutely AVOID! My husband and I lived here for a year and experienced nothing but disappointment. Coming from Hyde Park, we were really excited to live closer to the Loop. The price was a bit steep for our budget but we thought it was worth it, considering the view and the amenities promised to us - pool, hot tub and a gym. However, two weeks after we moved in both the pool and hot tub were shut down. Management continued to promise its reopening, saying they were just waiting on a new filter- BUT a couple months later we finally found out they had been lying to our face and never had any intention of fixing it (a temporary employee had admitted it). Shortly thereafter we were promised a new gym- yet another thing that never manifested. Instead, the few machines that still worked were moved into one of the studio apartments. It was about as makeshift as it gets. Essentially, after a few months in residence, all the amenities that attracted us and which were promised, were gone. On top of it all- management itself was awful. They were rude, fake, and unhelpful, being more concerned with filling the ever-growing vacancies than keeping the current residents happy. Then they had the audacity to raise the rent- for what? It gets better. We moved out September of this year and thought the ordeal with 1212 was over, little did we know. About a week ago we received an enormous bill in the mail saying we owed them! Mind you it was over the 30-day limit that Illinois state law allows for landlords to bring charges against their former tenants- so they can suck it. Their attempt to profit off of us beyond out lease is despicable. If you value your sanity, do not rent here.

My wife and I have lived here for a week now, and we LOVE IT. The location is amazing, the staff are great, and the improvements we see happening are amazing. We look forward to the final product and even though this may be one of the older buildings on the block, we know it has its own glow about it. We are pretty picky people, and it is easy to want to live in some the the surrounding buildings, but we chose this one because of the staffing, the potential, and the views. We would ideally love our own washer and dryer in the unit, but there is ample washers and dryers in the facility and soon that will be renovated. A Snap Fitness is going in, i used to be a member and love that gym. It is quality over quantity. The lobby and resident hallways are under rennovations now and when its all done, it will look great. The back hallway that the dogs are required to go out is soon to be redone as well. If dogs were allowed out the main entrance, it would be dirty. As long as other residents respect the fact that they should put the trash and recycling where it needs to be, that hallways wont look or smell bad at all. The location is the #1 selling point on this. The views are amazing, its right in front of a CTA "el" station, Trader Joes, Jewl Osco, Grant park, and a great number of restaurants. On sight is a great laundry and dry cleaning service that also manages all of the packages. They do a great job and will turn around your laundry same day even if its in before 9. The concierge desk is always staffed and they are tight to make sure only residents are allowed in. This is important to me to ensure my wife and dogs are protected and the building stays free of any riff raff. I give this place a full 5 star rating and it will stay that way provided all the renovations keep under way. Thanks to Emily who helped us get in and situated.

I lived there for 2 years .. the management their sucks. The new building manager currently there is a rude rude lady with no compassion at all.. The management takes no regards of the work orders you place it takes weeks for them to get a small thing like a light bulp fixed or unclogging the bath tub. The management staff that sits downstairs is super rude and are never able to give you any status with your maintenance order and their constant reply is .. it gets done when it gets done.. rude!! Neither they are ready to follow up on your order status or atleast tell us that it would be taken care of.. rather they are full of arrogance. The elevator for the garage has been not working for about 8-9 months now. The pool is namesake.. its been shut off by the city/health department for ever now. The gym has been moved to an apartment on second floor with 2 treadmills and few weights. leaving you to wait for a machine in queue for ages The maintenance staff does the cleaning/sweeping and mobbing of the elevators in the morning when people are in most rush.. blocking elevators .. making you weight for long wondering whats wrong with the elevators. Above that they are super pricey.. they have increased the rent by around 75 $ this year making a1 bedroom cost around 1500 200 in parking.

April 1- May 26, 2012 I am writing this to ensure that this does not happen to another person. I ignored the reviews written here and I have suffered the consequences. All of these events occurred under the NEW management at 1212 S. Michigan. Pre-Move In: LIE-Rent. I was quoted $1275 p/m, the lease stated $1400. They said they forgot to tell me that it was actually one month free and they prorate it. Day 1: LIE-the building is dog friendly. TRUTH: Dogs are NOT allowed to enter or exit the building through the lobby/front doors. They must use the filthy side doors through a vacant and even filthier hallway. I was even told to use the freight elevator. That is not dog friendly. That is dog tolerable . I was not notified of this until AFTER I moved in. Day 2: I step on a hypodermic needle inside my apartment. It was literally sticking out of my foot. I brought it to management and they apologized and assured the carpet was new. Day 8: A tenet who lives in the building accosts me (and on a separate occasion) a female friend who was visiting. He pushes himself onto both of us and is very inappropriate. For the first time, I notice the lack of surveillance cameras in the elevator. Management is notified. Day 13: LIE: Pool and Hot Tub. I find out that there will no longer be water works at 1212 (the previous review is from a year ago and since then it has been decided that the pool and hot tub area will be leveled and rented out to businesses.) Day 17: My apartment along with 6 others are burglarized, during which, they took my puppy. My apartment is trashed, all my jewelry (family heirlooms) and electronics stolen. Total loss: $4,000. My puppy was later found in another apartment. Police and Management were notified. Day 20: I contact management and ask to be compensated half my rent for everything that has happened. Their final offer: $100. Enough to buy a rape whistle, but not enough to move out and move into a safe and secure building. Month 2: LIE- Gym. It is in a 700sq ft apartment until the real gym is built. Today: LIE- Guest parking. When I call to find out how much and where it is located, I am told by concierge, there is no guest parking despite the fact I was told there was before I signed the lease. The truth: Yes, the maintenance staff and concierge are amazing. Yes, the electric bills can be a bit high. My major concern is the lack of safety and how much management has lied about, well, everything. If you value your pet, your belongings and sense of peace, DO NOT move to 1212 S. Michigan. I did not heed the warning of the other reviewers and now I am paying the price. And trust me, being a victim of a robbery is not the price you want to pay.

I love living in this apartment. The location is great, the neighbourhood is relatively safe and the staff is excellent. Whenever I have an issue, Deangelo solves it 99.9 percent of the time. The staff that work here (maintenance, cleaning) are great, they treat me more like a friend than anything else. I fully recommend living here.
