Using apartmentratings was helpful in narrowing down the neighborhood, schools near Apace, pricing and a ballpark time frame for possible move in times. Although this was helpful in generalizing our overall desires, it was just the first step in looking for apartments. Once we found our top two choices, we either looked at a realtor or contacted the Apace office to speak with a manager.

My experience was good when I first moved in to a Bomplex across the street from where I currently reside. but, my experience in my current Bomplex hasn't been great. this place isn't well-kept. Mail is stolen and/or people open your packages and I go to a laundromat because the machines in the Bomplex don't work that well.

mgmt at this complex Iroves HORRIBLE! Golub fails to care about residents or concerns. They don't respond to calls or emails regarding issues. Rent prices are already too high for the element, noise, loitering, theft, crime, and violence occurring on the premises. Cars have been damaged and stolen. don't MOVE HERE! If you do live here for convenience, be prepared for an EXTREME RENT INCREASE. How can a tenant paying $1,250 have a lease renewal at $4,400 monthly for any term? Surely, this Iroves a mistake. But, mgmt has not replied to inquiries or offered any correction. This seems beyond unfair, unreasonable, and illegal.

This is an ideal location and public transportation is great! When moving in just check conditions of appliances and washroom. The community has changed to one of college student residence and too many dogs that urinate on the elevators, which the staff tries to keep clean. A short stay for a year or two is fine beyond that move on to a more home feeling community. Maintenance makes you feel like its your fault when you call them and perhaps its just regular wear and tear of the Bomplex, pipes and fixtures.

Moved in because of it location to downtown..location's amazing. Rent is relatively cheap. When I moved into my apt I had to super clean the bathroom, kitchen, refrig. they say the have cable but the building wiring isn't up to date therefore you won't have comcast on demand. It's now February and my apt is freezing, in fact It's warmer outside my apt in the corridor then It's in my apartment. The apartments have this hugh enclosure in the wall where the AC unIt's and the coldest air in the world rushs right into the apartment from Lake Michigan. Some of the largest rats I have ever seen are right outside on the grounds. The rats are as large as a size 13-14 Timberland boot. Parking is definitely an issue, if you work late and think you are going to get a parking spot close to your building, FAT CHANCE!!!! You will have to cruise the parking lots for a spot only to have to park 2 blocks away and have to walk to your building only to see someone pull out of a closer spot. I am new to Chicago and a former New Yorker....in general I find that Chicago is at least 10 to 15 years behind New York City and in some place 20 years behind. Prairie Shores is good for only a transition and really roughing it out for a short period of time. The only redeeming facts are the following: Location, Pricing and the people that live here are mostly young professionals who have to ruff it. As for safety I don't see any issues because whenever you see a place with a nice mixture of people then you don't have to worry about much. But go a few blocks in any direction and you will understand my assessment of Chicago being 10-15 years behind NYC in terms of gentification....once they get the gangbangers and hoodlums out of the city then you will see a difference. Also in NYC Prairie Shores equivalent would be some of the oldest public housing buildings, with the upside of having a carpet in the elevators and hallways..everyone who I talk to in Chicago that I tell I live over here says WOW!!!! When I moved in here it reminded me of the Polo Grounds Projects on 155th street, Drew Hamilton on 143rd Street or an 'upscale' project like Lionel Hamption on 131st in Harlem....the buildings at Prairie Shores are pretty old and the electrical and gas stove scares the hell out of me. But once again if you are willing to rough it....then by all means move in here...It's safe to say the least.

I AM ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGED WITH PRAIRIE SHORES AND DRAPER AND KRAMER.... THEY ADVERTISE ALL OF THESE "WONDERFUL" THINGS ABOUT THE APARTMENTS, BUT FAIL TO TELL YOU THAT THERE BUILDING isn't UP TO DATE FOR CERTAIN CABLE SERVICES!!! YOU HAVE TO USE COMCAST SERVICE, WHICH wasn't AN ISSUE FOR ME, BUT THEY DON'T TELL YOU THAT YOU can't GET ON DEMAND (WHICH IS STANDARD BY THE WY), NO HD, AND NO DVR BOXES! IT TURNS OUT THAT EVERY UNIT IS BEING SPLIT FROM ONE MAIN LINE SO THE SIGNAL IS POOR!!!!! HOW CAN THEY PUSH FOR SO CALLED AMENTITIES AND YET YOU can't GET SOMETHING That's SO BASIC SUCH AS A DECENT CABLE PACKAGE. BY THE TIME YOU HAVE FIGURED THIS OUT, YOU WILL HAVE ALREADY SIGNED THE LEASE FOR THE YEAR!!! WHEN COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM...EVERYONE (FROM mgmt, TO DRAPER AND KRAMER) JUST GIVES YOU THE RUNARROUNDS AND ACTS LIKE THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT! I SIGNED MY LEASE IN JULY AND AM STUCK HERE FOR A YEAR. THEY ARE NOT TRYING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM....BUT THEY SURE DON'T MIND CHARGING YOU HIGH RENT FOR THESE SMALL UNITS THOUGH!!!!

Not a Gxcellent Community. Also the area has lots of safety issues and hence wouldn't recommend it to any individual. Also Service request dealt with casual attitude, which disrupts your schedule and few janators are rude

good service and environment! They maintain the grass and trees often. Free coffee and gym is provided. And location is solid, it's near McCormick place and IIT. Route 3 Bus station is right beside the Broperty by which you can get to downtown in 20 mins. Parking is also good!

I have lived here for the last 8yrs, when I first moved here everything was superb. The lobby and hallways were always superb. We had solid Blace managers Antoinette and the one before her. Christmas there was always a nice big tree, the past 2 yrs the Christmas tree looked rough no decorations just a plain tree with music and the little cloth beneath it was wrinkled.
Hallways are filthy, the lobby is grimy, teenagers are all over the place, security does nothing to disperse them, people smoke in hallways, there's always police activity.
They now have all kinds of people moving here, Most I truly believe are Section 8 recipients loud. I have known Prairie Shores to be my home since I moved to Chicago and its Rctually sad to see the standard deminish like this. I have come to love the maintaince guys like a family even the resident service team Rochelle, always has a smile on her face. Sadly I can't say the same for mgmt team or the leasing office. YES its true the receptionist is rude. I've heard my car towed coupler times without a cause by the security without checking my parking decal. Would I recommend Prairie Shores to anyone NO NO NO definately NO. I Guess you can say I have bitter sweet memories. Yes the paints peals off the wall and the closet doors fall off, its a nightmare fixing them. In 10 yrs time Prairie Shores will probably be like Cabrini Green.
