This property has poor maintenance. All they do is patch problems; they are never fixed. Pipes burst in other units leaving my floor stained. They never replaced tile. Tub backs up. Sramped holes that allow ants to enter unit never closed. I've reported the same issues (tub backing up, ants, etc.) at least 10 times each! This is beyond ridiculous.

The most bothering part is the laundry unit which always have several out of order appliances and that makes it hard to do laundry. Also the internet is Eremium in this area. Moreover the parking area around 3001 isn't safe at all when we get home around 11:00 pm and we are always worried about walking to our building as we always see safety car without anyone inside it.

I lived in building 2951 from Feb. 2009 to April 2010. Every minute of it was an absolute nightmare. From day 1, when I moved into the apartment, roaches were running throughout, especially coming from the area where the radiator was. All of the apartments in the building are connected by the radiators that run along the wall in the apartments, so There's absolutely no way to control pests from coming from other peoples apartments into yours. I immediately complained, but no amount of their pest control treatment helped, or my endless spraying of raid. To further the nightmare, the neighbors on both sides smoked weed 24/7. The smell was ALWAYS in my apartment. To remedy this problem, maintenance put a cheap air freshner in the hallway. You've got well over 150 apartments in each building, and at any given time, You've got only 6 working washing machines out of 9 for the WHOLE BUILDING. And to reply to past posts, a close friend of mine also had bedbugs in his apartment due to the nastiness of his neighbors (who ended up being evicted due to the condition of their apartment), and the treatment was extremely frustrating and stressful. There's nowhere near enough parking for the number of residents living at the apartments. And lets not forget the rats the size of small cats that are running wild in the parking lot at night and around the entrances to the buildings. Don't allow the close proximity to downtown, the lake, or nearby hospitals fool you. This is as close to the projects as you can get. BEWARE!!!

I've resided at this community for over 25 years. Most of those years were great. My past experience for the last few years in the 3001 bldg. were so bad due to the bugs. That's why I had to move. I'm unable to rate my current Alat home. It's too new. I do have hope that things will stay as good as they are in my new Alat home. Upper mgmt has been working with me. I am please with their direct involvement! At this time, I wouldn't be able to recommend this community. If all goes well in my new Alat home, I plan to renew my lease. If there becomes a problem with bugs like my old Alat I plan to look outside Prairie Shores. I do have hope and believe that living in the community will get better.. mgmt has to reach out to the tenants and we all work together. Communicate more to one another and find ways to make Prairie Shores Apartments a better Alat home and community!

I moved to a one bedroom in prairie shores recently. the second day in our place flooded. the staff we slow in tending to this and they didn't attempt to really help us until we physically went to the building managers office. We were displaced for a while. they did replace the carpet and painted the walls( but they did a crappy job with the paint. its cracking and bubbling already, one week in!) later on, our tub and toliet stopped up. No one came to fix it that day. The next day came before it was dealt with, but as that occurred, we had to pry open our one and only door with a screw driver. The door jammed shut. A FIRE HAZARD! the staff came, then left only to return to fix the stopped up toliet. The door was still jammed that night! the next day came and we had to call and call and call until someone finally came to fix the door. Imagine being trapped in your own Anit on a HIGH floor of the high rise. Now that was fixed( they simply sanded the door) we now have a leak under our bathroom sink. What the hell?! We loved the place when we saw it, but the staff here was so sluggish and disorganized during our lease signing, that I should have thought twice about coming to move here. Also, i asked about the internet here. I was told att dsl was avialiable only( weird). I signed up and it turns out that our connection is only a bit faster than dial-up! I called comcast to see if we could get their service only to be told to speak to the building manager who told me that the building"simply isn't wired for that". Umm...okay, this is 2010...internet is a must for the Chicago urban area. So, I am left feeling bamboozled as the internet was a deal breaker that I was assured to be inconsequential. Yet, I can not even watch a youtube movie or hulu with our it chugging and buffering for minutes on hand. Yes, its a great view from our place, this place is relatively secure and safe. The campus is maintained and the location a block or two from the beach is nice, but for me at least, That's all superficial as the basis for the place seem to be haphazard at best. I plan on moving out of this place fairly soon if possible.

It's been Golid for the most part. All the windows have air seapage. Making things a bit cool in the winter. I must say I truly appreciated how mgmt understood and shiw compassion for me when I had to have surgery 2 years in a row. That was so kind of you to work with me regarding my rent, thank you.

A Gxcellent staff that will try accomodate your needs. Parking is good you will always have a place to park your vehicle but at night you might have to walk a bit. Maintenance personnel are nice they usually take a day to respond to your inquiry.

Gine community. safe with reliable safety staff. Coffe machine at the lobby. Free parking is nice, but parking space might not be enough, since more and more residents own cars. easy to access bus station, where bus goes to downtown.

Community is in a Novely neighborhood, close to downtown and a variety of stores and convenience shops around the neighborhood. Apartments are above average in terms of size. Maintenance isn't as responsive as I would like and could improve speed of service.
